Bit off topic but that is a description of the anti-Henderson. Henderson rarely gives the ball away because he never tries an ambitious pass. He has great ball retention because he always plays safe.

We could do with more players who look for a killer ball.

I agree that we need more ambitious, incisive passers..... But I do think Henderson can get caught in possession of the ball more often than I'd like - I don't mean passing-wise, I mean when he doesn't release the ball first time.

I think we need cover for Lucas or someone to play in a 3 alongside him and Gerrard.  If we want a quality addition that wouldn't be too expensive how about the lad Diarra who plays for France?  Thought he was brilliant in the Euros at breaking up play and letting the more attack minded players do there thing or alternatively a cheap option would be the lad Hubschman (sp?) from Czech Rep.  Looked a handy player and could do a job as back-up for a small outlay.  Just my opinion obviously.

This. Even Rodgers said there was no coincidence between Lucas's injury and Liverpool's drop in form. Surely with him saying that he can see the need to not allow the situation to occur again, especially now with Lucas's fitness situation. He needs to be handled carefully, he may need rested at times, or god forbid he has setbacks because of this injury.

We need a top player in that position, and he should get plenty game time.

whichever way you cut it mate thats buy to sell. We dont have the depth of squad to sell, to replace players on the fly. We need to build a team first, tahts when your 20 mill a window comes into play when you are tweaking an already assembled squad.

I hope we bring in someone who can play alongside AND instead of Lucas as a priority. We can't depend on Lucas rightaway, it'll do no one any favours if we throw him back in and he injures himself again. And we need someone who can jump right in. I'd give anything for someone like Lars Bender.

Someone with better knowledge on the subject than me can probably go into more detail, but my understanding is that Borini was at Roma last season, and was part owned by them, and part owned by another club (Parma?) They had a closed bid auction, Roma beat the other team, so assumed full ownership of Borini. They can now sell him and keep all the profits. I think

Can't see us doing this as we'd effectively be turning into AC's feeder club and lap dog. Think a loan would be out of the question unless it was something like loan swap of Pato for Carroll, which is highly unlikely.

I still dont think we should go into the season depending on either Shelvey & Sterling but see them as a bonus. They dont take up a place in the 25 man squad & it takes the pressure off them to develop & grow both in training together with minutes in the first team be it PL or cups.

I think theyre likely to get Dzeko very cheap. The fact that they seem to be looking to buy a big man leads me to think that they might be looking to sell Ibra. While I am a big fan of Andy and think he will be a success for us, you would be mad to buy him over Dzeko at this point in time.

I don't think a DM should be a priority. We have enough central midfielders, and although none of them are the sort of player that naturally anchors the midfield like Lucas does, I'm sure they could do the job in Rogers' playing style. Allen and Britton aren't exactly Lucas-esque enforcers, but Rogers' style of having the team press and having so much of the ball meant it wasn't really necessary. I'd rather see us give Henderson and Shelvey more games in the middle, and spend our money on attacking wingers.

Firstly I wanted Kenny to have another season in charge, the fact that they gave him only one season after giving him a three year deal and then decided to go after a manager with one season of Premier League experience annoyed me. I'm saying that their decision to get rid of Kenny is going to have repercussions for the immediate future in that they have spent so much of our transfer budget on compensation to Swansea, severance payments and all the costs associated with getting rid of a manager.

I never said that the reported £20 million is going to be good enough, in fact I believe I said the opposite. That there are at the very least 5 clubs who are currently better than us and that they will all strengthen, most likely to a greater degree than we will. That's why I said I'm not expecting much because to improve on our league position, and get close to 4th we have to improve more than all those teams above us, which with £20 million would take some Dortmund-esque work on transfers.

Apologies for heading off topic a bit, but I hope the fact that I'm speaking about the transfer budget means this post is actually relevant to the thread.
