am i the only one who doesnt rate van persie all that highly?

yes he's a good player that had the best season he'll probably have in his career last season , but i just dont see why the hype around him is so strong, expect last season most of his time at arsenal he's flattered to deceive for me.

maybe its the bergkamp comparisons early on.....i dont know i just dont think he's all that great

He was world class last season but kind of agree as I think Wenger set up the team just for him that he is highly unlikely to get at the clubs he is linked to. I can see Arsenal being maybe not stronger but certainly more balanced as a team, will probably get stick  :) but I really can see Gervinho- Giroud - Podolski front line working.... Giroud has everything for that central role & will fit perfectly how Arsenal play.

Nasri, Vermalen, Lass Diarra, Ramsey, Gallas, Adebayour. The emergence of Gibbs, Szczesny, Oxdale Chamberlain and Wiltshire will prove them to be be top players in time IMO.

Some of those players turned in to top class players and those that did were sold. Gibbs isnt anywhere near top class same with Scezney. Gallas for Cole and 5 million is one of the worst deals ever And Chamberlain and Wilshere will be top players for other clubs the way Arsenal are run

I'd keep him and not play him for a year

lol everyone on here is so fucking hard.

You do that and you basically burn your bridges with his agent, good luck ever doing business with any of his players ever again.  And you also destroy your reputation in Holland.

These "fuck the player, let him rot" grandiose statements are much better in theory than in reality.

Surpried people aren't putting Arteta in their Arsenal line ups.

He was their 3rd best player last season after RVP and Koscielny, He missed like 8-9 games, and Arsenal only won 1 of those games.

Some would say finishing top four is as better than two trophies a season.

Mind you, the same people think that getting to a European Cup final is similar to Millwall having a good run in the FA Cup.

Best leave those people be though. They're busy pissing on their own legacy :D

Haha even the mental guy in that video says "we're in the top 4 every season, why would you leave that?!"

Beyond parody.

Arsenal stasis Robin! Why would you leave that?!

He won't have a season like the last one ever again so Arsenal might do well if they squeeze a good fee for him.
I agree. He's 28, and has a lengthy injury history.

Fully expected him to leave after his first good complete season. He's 28 and Arsenal won't win anything in the foreseeable future. The situation reminds me of Torres except Arsenal would be lucky to get 30m for him.

Is he 'top class'? A good player maybe but top class?
Yes, Vermaelen will most likely turn out to be one of the greatest bargains in this transfer window. He would've been perfect for Liverpool, hurts to see how cheap he went for. Pisses me off, will be one of the better centre backs in the league.

Idiots, the season Wenger leaves will be the season Arsenal decline.
Not sure about this.

IMO, Arsenal have the worst set of owners out of any "big" European clubs. They are only interested in making money, they couldn't give a crap about trophies.

Wenger is their best asset, i.e. a legend in the eyes of most fans and media, who shields owners with his idiotic policies. If Wenger were to uncover truth about owners publicly by demanding money etc., fans would have turned against owners long ago. But he is defending his own policies, and by extension, money grabbing owners as well. Wenger seems to be satisfied when he buys a 5-10 million player and turns him into a 30 million player. With his policies, he is never going to ask for world class players, and that suits owners well.

Owners, and Wenger with his policies that protect owners, have been damaging Arsenal.

What do you mean he's "up the board's arse"? Is it because he doesn't beg them for millions in transfer funds every summer? Is that it?

Yes, he is. He should demand a squad to compete for the biggest trophies.

Don't tell me that Arsenal cannot afford that. Arsenal have been one of the top 3-5 clubs in terms of financial strengths for about 5-10 years now. Look at the lists from various sources such as Forbes, Deloitte etc. They have money. They had and have more money than most clubs in the world. But when did they spend? Spending wise, they are probably not even in top 15. So where does the money go? To owners, who are happy to pocket it.

How exactly is he a mercenary?

He's been at the club for 8 years now and have showed no ambition to go on and title challenge. Top four isn't always enough.

If they actually invested in players they'd fight for the title. You don't replace Nasri with a loanee in Yossi and replace Cesc with Arteta to show ambition to your best players. Arteta's a good player but is still a level below Fabregas.

If the PL financially implodes, which is a possibility, they'd come firmly on top of it. They are one of the very few clubs that run under reasonable debt. Most top sides are broke and being run extremely irresponsibly.

Average! That looks like quite a good squad to me. On their day.
Wrong on two counts. He didn't give himself a ten match ban. And this thread is about calculating the ban not about selling Suarez. In the spirit of your post I'm giving you a ten day ban for detailing the thread. It's completely out of proportion but you did it to yourself. I take it you won't be asking for it to be reduced.

Either way, if he leaves then it's good news for us.

We need to be finishing above Spurs / Arsenal to get CL Football - and if you take Persie out of Wengers team it looks relatively normal.

180m over 6 seasons is nothing.

It's a £25m player on £100,000 a week every season. Do people really think that wouldn't have given Arsenal even a chance of actually winning a trophy in that time?

Arsenal's financial reports are available to the public. They show beyond any doubt that we don't have anywhere near the financial muscle to keep up with City, Chelsea etc. Weird that people keep on insisting that we do. Our only hope is FFP which is pretty much using us as the blueprint for a well run club. Unfortunately we probably won't have any players by then!

with every departure though i think the way they dealt with the loss of Fabregas and Nasri was horrible. And even then they still somehow managed 3rd.
Because of van Persie...
