I hope the club signs its primary targets soon. The other contenders for the top 4 are moving in earnest and have already signed quit a few of their targets while we have yet to seal a single deal.

If we don't make any moves then Spurs won't know who to sign, so in a way we win.

He does say that Suarez's agent is Pep Guardiola's brother and that he was making noises about a possible move for Luis just after the season had finshed.
wonder if that was in the immediate aftermath of kenny going as luis would have likely been very pissed off over that?

I'd say agents are always looking for a move for their players as it means they can further line their pockets.

Not that you should know, but that guy is probably one of the biggest idiots on Uruguayan sport journalism, and that's quiet an achievement. Still the information is probably true. What you should know about the Uruguayan football industry is that the people involved (journalists, agents, players, player’s family, club presidents, etc) are quiet open to talk about transfers and negotiations, it's all pretty transparent in that aspect at least. So if some idiot like Gard says that, is because he was probably told by another journalist that had talked to the player, the player's agent or maybe to a familiar.

Good Spanglish there. I don't agree with your personal opinion about Julio Cesar Gard either.
He seems to be confident in what he's reporting, so he probably confirmed it somewhere.
As Lastrador said and I do agree with him in this, usually this things get known quickly around Uruguay, so i guess the deal should be done soon.

true, and i'm pretty sure that luis is meant to have a contract offer on the table so thats no doubt got something to do with that

Since Spurs have just agreed terms for their 2nd target already from reports concerning Vertonghen, it I don;'t think they are waiting for anybody. Even Arsenal have signed not just one but two forwards already. Meanwhile Rodgers does not seem to be in any hurry.

Everytime we feel like someone has put 2 and 2 together and come up 5, a Uruguayan journalist suggests otherwise, and the thread is re-opened.

Unless all info has completely been stopped leaking, or the club is purposely sending out false info to detract from our targets, this is going to be a big let down.

Really does feel like Mata all over again, where people nailed their colors to the mast very early on, either denying it, or saying it would happen. Turned out to be absolute and utter bullocks.

I've got a feeling Rodgers real targets either haven't been mentioned yet at all, or, they are so obvious that nobody has thought to mention them anyway.

Marcotti reckons the only way we're signing Ramirez is if Suarez goes. Says that he hopes Suarez stays for Liverpool fans but his agent is actively seeking a move for him.

In no realm is Ramirez anything approaching an adequate replacement for Suarez, get used to bottom half finishes if that turns out to be true.

Unless all info has completely been stopped leaking, or the club is purposely sending out false info to detract from our targets, this is going to be a big let down.

I said a while back our interest in him died in when comolli was shown the door, no one would have any of it.

to be honest one or two people on there have yet to get anything big wrong regarding us and broke news before anyone else

Monkeys at typewriters, it's the same every year - I've fallen for it enough times.

duncan jenkins seems to get pretty much everything about us spot on and actually answers peoples questions on the rumours that get spread around.

He really doesn't, he was wrong about Sigurdsson, he's been banging the Ramirez drum since January (again, monkey at a typewriter), he was wrong about Begiristain and wrong about Van Gaal but people disregard this because he tells them what they want to hear.

He's the twitter equivalent of a cold reader.

Jenkins obviously knows more than anyone else. He never said that Sigurdsson to LFC was done, like a lot of the fake ITKs did, he expected LFC to complete the deal for him, as did Rodgers at that time. How can you know Begiristain & Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal weren't on Liverpool's radar. Jenkins never said we had agreed a deal with them, just that we were looking to get them.

He was right about Rodgers and he came out with the news before any of the papers. He was right about Kenny, too, although that's something even some the fake ITKs guessed. Plus, he's always the first with the lineups, and he always gets them correctly.

And what comes to Ramirez, I believe we are talking to him, despite Smith, Barrett, Jones etc saying we're not.

Acaustiq,

to add to that, an "ITK" or journalist saying something is NOT happening is no more reliable than those saying something IS happening. with our leaks being so nonexistent since Rodgers has come in, I don't think anybody knows anything.

The mods get pissy over itk bollocks discussions so all I'll say is of course no one is correct all the time, I never suggested they were.

Jenkins is a cold reader - he gives just enough to be plausibly deniable yet still be able to declare it a 'scoop' if it comes to fruition. Wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be Derek Acorah.

Tommo used to get the lineups right too (might still do for all I know) - his stock has dramatically fallen since he was the anointed itk de jour.

And leave it at that, looks like this'll be locked anyway.

I can't remember perfectly clearly, but during the (short) Coates saga, wasn't it a similar situation, that the British press was completely unaware of what was going on until it was all but finished?

And Meireles, where the Portugese press knew he was moving to us before a word had even been spoken locally?

Honestly is there anything more tedious? I'm not surprised no one knows who we are in for if anybody because without doubt we are the slowest movers in the transfer market I have ever witnessed in the last few years. Absolute tedium of the highest order.

it doesn't sound like "no i have a source and we're definitely not interested" though. more like "uhh well we haven't heard otherwise so we just assume we're not interested".

after so much 'yeah this is happening in the next 24h/48h/week' talk I wouldn't be surprised if an announcement came just as soon as everyone started saying 'nope not happening' lol.
