So where are the people who jumped on me a few days ago when I said we need a centreback? Seems the club agrees with me.
Right here, and actually people jumped on you for saying that Coates was shaky in every game he played.

It seems Tony Barrett agrees with you. A journalist does not equate to the club. See who we sign first before you start slapping yourself on the back and giving it the old "I told you so!" Who is to say it won't be a decent kid who is better than Wilson?

I knew there was someone I was forgetting. I hope Wilson's given a chance under Rodgers, like Kelly and Coates - if they're good enough, we won't need to buy anyone else and can concentrate on improving other areas of the team.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Depends which Skrtel turns up this season.

The one that showed half decent form this season or the shithouse of the last few.

A bit of form don't fool me. Esp in our worse season in years.

If Skrtel is off then it's much better to buy his replacement before selling him.

Absolutely. If I remember rightly, Tony was banging that particular drum about buying a center half while Kenny was still manager. Hopefully Brendan thinks differently and has more confidence in Coates and Wilson, allowing to use his available funds where we certainly need to prioritise. Unless of course Skrtel is off in the summer, and that might force him into buying a first choice to center half alongside Agger.

Replace Skrtel?

I seem to remember that Comolli was supposedly looking into CB options at the time he got the boot.

If Skrtel is off then it's much better to buy his replacement before selling him.

Of course, but that's quite an assumption to make from a journalist's comment.

We could quite conceivably be looking into a replacement for Carra, i think it's well versed that for a club playing around 60 games a season it's good preparation to have at least 4 recognised centre backs. Perhaps we're planning for the future?

Still, i'd prefer we didn't release our better players and focused on finding ways to compliment them.

Personally, i want a right back.

I want a Ferrari, but it won't get me to work more efficiently than a Skoda. Just cost a hell of a lot more to run, particularly when i've a Porsche in the drive which costs me the same amount.

Johnson is a top quality right back, Kelly is a fantastic compliment to him in the squad in terms of competition and option, that's before you recognise Flanno as an option.

We don't need a new right back, for the first team squad.

I don't think there is an urgent need for a centre half, as long as Carragher is fourth choice. I remember reading in his book and in an interview that, as much as he loves LFC, if he were to find himself in a position where he isn't getting much game time that he would go elsewhere so that he could play regularly. Now, If Jamie is told that he is behind Coates and even Kelly in the pecking order this season, would he stay true to his word and take a considerable cut from his £90k a week wage here to go and play for relegation fodder (in which he'd probably thrive because they play much deeper and that suits him)? Carra has always struck me as a man of his word, so if Rodgers has told him he isn't going to play very much first team football for us again, he may do the off and then we would indeed need another centre half (who we could pay far less wages to which frees up the funds in the wage bill for more attacking talent). The other scenario of course being if Skrtel goes to City for big bucks. I hope that isn't the case.

I think Gerrard, Aquilani, Henderson and Jonjo are fine options in the midfield going forward, but we do need cover for Lucas; someone that can also play alongside him. If you sell Adam and Spearing for a good, strong, holding midfielder, then I think we look fairly well balanced in the middle with enough numbers, variety and sufficient quality. I think this is an absolute priority over the centre back situation.

Then of course we need a replacement for Dirk out wide and a striker (a poacher ideally). I'd much rather see 2/3 players go out and 3/4 quality players come in than another overhall of the squad that will take another year to gel and leave us off the pace again. It's vital that we make wise decisions in this window so that we can move forward.
It's hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them.

If we are going to buy Skrtel replacement, then I hope club will do its scouting well, because that CB must be good enough and ready to play 38 games in the league next season.

I we don't sign a centre back, we are left with agger(injury prone,) Skrtel, coates(inexperienced) and carra(I'm sorry but he's finished as a regular) . That's not enough and is probably the reason why we're lookin for another cb. Kelly is cover for fullbacks and needs to be brought in slowly to play cb. Imagine agger and Skrtel injured next season? Our defence would be torn apart with a slow carra and inexperienced Coates/Kelly. Coates will be class but I don't wanna see us depend on him too much yet

He's not that good plus £15m would be a rip off akin to Andy Carroll for £35m considering he has just a few months left before he becomes a free transfer.

Were you saying that about Carra in the early 2000s? Rafa's plan was always for Kelly to learn his trade out wide and then revert to CB which is where he played his youth footy. He's also been very good at CB for England U21.

Rafa said in a recent interview that as soon as he saw Kelly, he demanded he is shifted to right back as he's better suited there. It was one of those Independent articles he did about the Euros.

Why are people not rating Dzagoev? The lad is quality and has shown that quality consistently over the past few seasons. Would much prefer him to the likes of Ramirez.

Didn't know about his contract situation, but the suggestion that he isn't good is laughable. Before he became dead cert to be a Spurs player, and before he was a dirty manc whom we didn't want anyway, Gylfi was enjoying a RAWK wide wankfest. At the same time Dzagoev was bossing the Euros at 22.
