Panel announces date of Hillsborough families' disclosure 20 June 2012

Statement:

The Hillsborough Independent Panel is now approaching the completion of its work of securing maximum possible disclosure of documents relating to the disaster and its aftermath. Disclosure, as it has been made clear, will be first to the Hillsborough families and then to the wider public. At the same time, in line with its Terms of Reference, the Panel will publish its Report explaining how the disclosed documents add to public understanding.

The Independent Panel has accessed and analysed documents from over 80 organisations and running to over 400,000 pages. Earlier this year the Panel announced that because it was still receiving new material it would complete its work in the Autumn. The Panel is on course to achieve this and announces today that the disclosure to families will take place on Wednesday 12 September in Liverpool.

The Panel hopes that by making this announcement it will give the bereaved families sufficient time to prepare for the disclosure.

One of the Panel’s central objectives has been consultation with the bereaved families. At its first meeting in February 2010 it met representatives of the three family groups. The Panel has also contacted those families not affiliated to the groups. It is the Panel’s intention that these consultations should continue. In due course the Panel will contact each family to explain details of the disclosure arrangements.

Lets hope there are no leaks and the families finally get the justice they have worked so hard for. JFT96
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

You have posted literally nothing of substance to flame about.  Your "points", and I dread to call them that, were superficial and completely arbitrary.  Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind.

Interesting how the BBC are reporting this. It's at pains to emphasise the SYP's culpability, and that the Kenneth Oxford leak this spring was wrong to blame it on drunken fans; the report below even goes so far as to include Taylor's rebuttal of that theory.

Just shows you how pressure from our supporters can be brought to bear on even an organisation like the BBC to get its facts right, as some of its reporting of that Oxford leak was careless back in March.

Few Tories twitching over this one. Good news.

To me this has nothing to do with Tories twitching or anything of the sort.

It's about finally revealing The Truth about what happened that day.  If it reveals things that the Police or Politicians or The Football  Autorities or Newspapers/TV/Journalists did wrong in the build up to, during and in the aftermath of The Hillsborough Disaster, I'd simply just like to know so that the record books can be corrected.

Ofcourse if in the aftermath of the Panels Revelations, there's a case to take legal action against individuals or organisations well all well and good, but right now I'd simply like to hear The Truth from The Panel and Justice to be Delivered to The 96 and indeed to all of us whom were there that day and survived.

Three months to wait.  As much as I'm relieved there is light at the end of the tunnel I'm worried the rabid media will use this time to try and hack their way into the sources beforehand.

John, nothing is fair, particularly not for the bereaved families.  It's not fair that they lost their loved ones, it's not fair that their names were dragged through the mud by the gutter press and spineless bastards trying to cover their tracks, it's not fucking fair that they have been denied justice at every turn, it's not fair that they are still awaiting the truth after 23 years.  I agree that the sooner they get disclosure the better but look at the volume of papers that have been processed and logged.  Look at the scale of the task the panel has undertaken, I think if they could have the information ready before that then they would.

Was going to start a thread but it will do just as well in here.

Could we not have a show of solidarity Worldwide, with Reds displaying a simple poster A4 size or whatever saying Justice for the 96 Sept 12th 2012, in their windows at home, work or car? Im sure one of the smarter posters on here could come up with a PDF for everyone to download and print off.
