A bit like Mark Hughes guaranteeing QPR will win the league this coming season, just so long they do not have any injuries no?

No, nothing like that at all really.

Rafa made a huge strategic blunder by rejecting offers from Atletico Madrid and Valencia and others.

What was he thinking? His stock will go up when he is unemployed? Being stubborn is his character, and he is too stubborn about wanting to coach in England. And not any team, big team is his desire. He had a slim chance for that, and with every passing day, it gets slimmer due to his unemployment.

He has to consider Sampdoria now, who just came out of Serie B. I wonder what does he think about Atletico Madrid and Valencia offers...

Russian NT is a dead end job as well.

Apparently 'Arry thought the commute from Sandbanks to Moscow was too far.  Wonder if Rafa will consider flying in from the Wirral?  I gather Fabio is in the frame too.  £6 mill per annum?  I'd be all over it like a cheap suit!!

Of course, there's always the outside chance it's all just media speculation.

Couldn't see a topic specific to the Russia job, so lobbing this in 'ere.

Anyone else spot the anomaly in this list of names released by the RFU?

"The Russian Football Union has officially informed that the organisation plans to consult, in full compliance with the rules of FIFA and UEFA, the appointment of the head coach of Russian national team, with the following experts: Rafael Benitez, Anatoliy Byshovets, Marcelo Bielsa, Valery Gazzaev, Josep Guardiola, Fabio Capello, Andrei Kobelev, Yuri Krasnozhan, Marcello Lippi, Valery Nepomnyashchy, Nikolai Pisarev, Harry Redknapp, Yuri Semin."

The Russian experts and media are criticizing this list badly. They think it's a laughably stupid list to have, and even more so to announce.

And I agree with that.

It's because the Russian alphabet doesn't have a direct equivalent to C. A hard C sound in Russian is represented by their K.

Rafa is probably going to sit out another season if he keeps waiting for a decent job to come along.

I think after Italy his kids have said they want to go to school in Liverpool, hence his rejecting every job outside of England.
Normally a player can look great on tubes, but one of the things that's encouraging for me is just the amount of youtube videos on him

Maybe he enjoys running the site, writing articles & being a pundit more than we think.... it really isnt a bad life no stress & being around family.

If hes waiting for a job in england this last year must have bee the wake up call as half the clubs have appointed new managers together with he is never going to get the likes of United, Arsenal & City jobs.

Wonder when this great man is going to return to management, few clubs missing out big time.

Its kinda strange though, be happy to see him back in management but will always long for his return here, no offence to BR.

I can't ever see him returning here, at least not whilst under our current owners, but that's for a different thread.  I do find it absolutely absurd that this man has not returned to management though.  A part of me hopes he's just knocking back jobs left, right and centre.  If not, it's inexplicable that he hasn't been offered a top job.  A great manager, and a great man.

Too fucking right. Legend.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. I think only a mod can change a thread title, otherwise I would have done it!

Anyway, like most of you I hope Rafa gets back into football management sooner rather than later. PSG might not be a bad shout if Ancelotti fails. Though I don't know how he'd get on with Zlatan.
“It was the first game of the qualifying for us and well we can take a lot from it ,like I was talking to one of the guys from TNS about my internet connection at home and he said the reason I sometimes can't get on is because I am running the wrong browser with Windows 95 and he suggested I update to Windows XP” - 23 Carra Gold
