publicly fighting with the owners at his last 3 jobs isn't helping (even if he was right in each case)

Has nothing to do with Sampdoria, mate. Rafa didn't want to coach there according to every Italian journo.

Glad he's being picky.

Rushing in to a club without the conditions being right is exactly what he did at Inter.

I think that if Sampdoria's owners were honest about their words, Rafa was wrong in not accepting them. They wanted to be a bit like Udinese and told him they'll give him a good budger but he refused the job.

Champions League Dreams I believe is basically his account of the CL campaigns while he was manager of us. Rory Smith is apparently ghost writing it so it should be very good.

Was just on Sky Sports news.

Appears that Sampdoria didn't match his ambition.
Said they were happy to simply stay in the division having been promoted last season.

Stated he will consider a club that has ambitions of winning trophies..... ;D

I'm kind of pleased hes is not going to Sampdoria as not the most stable club so a big risk in his position but really struggle to see where next. Its a shame to see him out of management for so long & hope he gets a club that fits him soon.

He needs a club with an owner that wants to win things and build a great club. An owner that's prepared to pay for that ambition in time and transfer fees. He also needs understanding fans… where's he gonna find that?

That's he's not as good as some like to think?

Either RAWK is right and the whole football world is wrong or...

It can't be more obvious how he's viewed by the kind of offers he's getting.

He's been hard-selling himself for a top job in all his interviews I've read/watched, promising doing a project, practically promising to win the European/Europa Cup. Massive fail the moment we didn't make top four after he guaranteed it. After Inter his reputation went down the drain.

Benitez "guaranteed" top four but didn't manage it. Subsequent managers haven't yet managed to equal even his failure of a points total. What's worse, one of them spent all his effort playing down our chances so he'd look better in comparison. I'd rather have a manager who aims for the sky and fails, only to hit the ceiling, than one who crawls around on the floor.

And about RAWK being right and the rest of the world being wrong, I was part of a lonely group who defended Lucas when he was a laughing stock to the mainstream. I knew what I saw and I backed my judgement. The mainstream nowadays say exactly what I did then. There's a bunch of other stuff where I've deviated from mainstream opinion and been pretty specific about it, not least Hodgson's modus operandi or the mentality of the standard English football fan.

Funnelly enough, there is a correlation between 'dislike of rafa' (in the face of stark factual reality) and 'slating lucas' (of course, the media praise Lucas now, so he's class  :P ) - definite overlap of media spun, belief system and just goes to show how easily manipulated consensus reality can be.

'Skywashed' isn't just a pejorative cliche - it's fully indicative of how narrative constructs shape people's opinions.

I know he wants to manage in England, but really would love to see him take on a challenge elsewhere. None of the "big" jobs in England look like they're going to be open any time soon and think that he'd be better served going to Germany or Italy. I wonder if Bayern Munich wouldn't be a bad shout if that job became open for him.

Didn't he caveat at it with 'so long as we have no more injuries' too - a few days before Johnson and Benayoun were both injured in the same match?

To be fair (for once) to Redknapp he is pretty old, just been questionably sacked & not heard any other club linked to him... still cant really see them going for him though.

Hope a club job comes up for Rafa soon, much more suited to the day in day out work.

Cannot really see Rafa taking charge of a national-team (yet). I mean the man seems to be obsessed with football and improving the players at his disposal. Things that aren't really necessary for an international manager. Yes, he could try and improve their whole setup, but I'm not sure that's what he wants. I know he's after a decent project, but taking over a national-team doesn't seem to be such a project in my view...
