There is no way that Reading will be at home the same weekend as the Reading festival.

Didn't Man U recently get something like 6 home starts in a row ? (and in those season they had quite a few home finishes as well). There is also a myth that goes round at this time very year where the champions always start at home or something.

It's also at this time every year when I keep referring people back to the Rafa's 'rant' and the perfectly valid points he made about the fixture list which the PL have never bothered to take on board.
08/09: Utd open at Old Trafford
09/10:  Chelsea open at home
10/11: Utd open at home, and with the same fixture as 08
11/12: City open at home

Coincidental more than anything no doubt but there certainly is precedent there over the past few seasons

1st game - Reading away (although I'd put fiver on it being Swansea!)
Last up - Norwich home

ManU will be away to Norwich or home to West Ham
ManCity away to Southampton or home to Newcastle
Chelsea home to Spurs

Sort of on topic ....

Assuming we get through the 2 (??) qualifying rounds for the Europa League, how many fixtures can we expect to be moved to a Sunday [ even before Sky get their hands on the list ] ? In other words, how many games does each team play on a Thursday in the group stage of the Europa League (and when do the Europa game dates get announced) ?

First: Southampton (A)
Last: Newcastle (H)

I have by the way seen the leaked list of fixtures with my own eyes. My Dad works for the FA.

(Just to start some storm up if my predictions turn out correct ;).)

Even though I'm sure I saw some Sky Sports thing last year that showed how the fixtures are decided right at last minute.

They are certainly not done at the last minute ... it involves generating an initial list which is then sent to the police, etc to make sure they can cover the dates before being finalised.

While that seems to make sense, it still can't involve a large number of people as the fixture list is never leaked.  In this day and age if the list was being passed around dozens of police forces I'd be amazed that some bright spark didn't leak it onto twitter or some such.

Reckon we'll be away from home first against either QPR or Villa.

Home to Southampton second and then away to Spurs.

It isn't a large amount of people. In fact it's one person. There was an article not that long ago. One guy drafts it all, they get it checked by police and adjust if needed, then boom.
