Euro should be the place for the best teams, 16 is the right number. 24 will decrease the quality of the tournament, It will cost more days for competition and violence can be a bigger challenge for obvious reasons.

Platini has a brain like the other human beings but it is not in his head, only in his foot and nowadays he can´t make a difference.
"If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later..."

"One of the things I keep reminding players is that when you're lost in a fog, you must stick together. Then you don't get lost. If there's a secret about Liverpool, that's it."

it has been brilliant so far. Some humdingers of games and apart from the first game the refs (and players)have been excellent in their attitude to the game.
If it goes to 24 it will be only for the worst.

Keep it like this please.

Why do people say it will get worse if we have 24 teams? More teams = more football. I love watching international football during the summer and if there are more matches, the better it is and the less bored we will all be in the summer when there's no club football.

Because it means more "lesser" nations will get through. Personally I don't understand it, but people wanna whinge, they gonna whinge. Okay yea it might mean some theoretically worse nations might go through, but you know what there have been three sides at this years thatve been pretty shit, and there are a few fairly good if unspectacular national sides out there like Belgium. Mind the ones who complain about it are the ones who complain about the WC for basically the same reason. Pretty much if it doesn't consist solely of the likes of Germany and Brazil its bullshit to them.

I, for one, see nothing wrong with expanding it.

Who are those teams that have been particularly bad?

On the whole the level of competition has been very good. Even Ireland, although out after two games, will probably look at a certain number of the goals they conceded and suggest they should have done better. Nobody hase been truly blown away in both games.

How are they going to do groups with 24 teams? That will result in a number of team not equal to a multiple of 4 in the next round.
I would prefer a

Enjoying it very much and compared to recent WC and EC its played in good spririt , focused on attacking play and entertaining games...standard of football is vaired...but all it needs is one or two great games to be a classic.

It will be like the world cup when there were 24 teams. 6 groups of 4, the top 2 in each group go through together with the 4 best 3rd place teams. It will be hard to get knocked out, and reduces the sudden death nature of a lot of the group games.
With more qualifiers there will be weaker teams, and thus less competitive games.

Read Carra's thoughts on it yesterday and he was exactly right, the Euro's are better than the World cup, as much as I love it but there are teams in it who should be no where near the competition meaning it only comes alive once it gets to the knock out stages cause bar a couple of surprises its predictable. He's also right about the Champions league, I was saying it before we fell away, its became boring. UEFA really need to look at the format and try and inject some excitement during the group stages. I also got bored with playing the same teams over and over, I know the Chelsea run of games was a freak, but who can say when we last played them in a CL semi or quarter, what ever it was, it stirred the same excitement as 2005, was more like going to a league game.
Think the powers that be have to take a good hard look at what their doing cause football is eating itself. Cancelled Sky along time ago, but with their new 3 billion pound deal, we all know who's paying for that, reckon most people would pay an extra tenner a month for their footie. Long live bloodzed.

Dont like how the final group games are on either bbcone & bbcthree or itv1 & itv4, they will be scraping the barrel pundit wise! Would be much better just to split the games so one on BBC1 & the other ITV1.

^^ This

The only thing i do hate when the Euros have 24 teams, it becomes easier to qualify for the knockout rounds, at the mo it's quite hard as you need at least 2 wins, plus they'd be a few more meaningless last round of group games with most of the teams already qualified to the knockout rounds. Example Netherlands have an outside chance to get to the quarters but they've got to win 2-0+ & hope Germany win, if it were a 24 team comp they'd only need a win as they'd qualify as one of the best teams in 3rd place

Overall i've enjoyed the Euros this year refreshing to see teams attacking rather than going for a 0-0. The match ball looks better than the one they had in the WC, that was one of the problems in the last WC.

If teams in both matches had a chance of going through depending on the result in the other match, the teams playing last would have an unfair advantage. It's always been like that

Just like the final round of the premier league

Because of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Germany_v_Austria_%281982%29 similar thing happened in 78 World Cup, when Argentina knew they needed a big win in the last group game to go through & they won 6-0

Can some one explain to me why the extra officials behind the goals are always on the same side as the linesman?
Wouldnt it make more sense to have them on the other side of the goal since the linesman has a pretty good view of the near post but not of the far post?
Would still like a reply to this.

What's impressed me this tournament is there seems to less play acting. There's been a few dives here and there as per any modern game
but there doesn't seem to be much blatant cheating going on or players trying to con the ref.

The games have been played in a very fair fashion for the most part and there's respect between the teams.

Great tournament so far and the quarters will be boss.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

What´s pretty obvious to watch is that a lot of top players from the top teams in europe, who played for the entire season, seem to be very, very tired and empty, certainly far from being fresh. Ronaldo, van Persie, Lahm, Snider and to some extend some of the spanish players...

The preperation for the Euros has been the key, just as in every tournament after an exhausting season. The Germans got it right again but England did a better job as well.

Fitness will be a massive factor for winning this tournament, I still believe the Spanish will be hard to beat.

It's only since the days of Davor Suker that people have started really noticing Croatia and taking them seriously as a top footbally nation

How the fuck are they supposed to make any kind of impact at all before independence? Suker was in the Yugoslavia squad at Italia 90.

Yeah its been a great tournament so far, no goalless draws, that's got to be a record. Especially with the not lose the first game mentality!
Shocked how Holland can have so many quality individuals yet can't form them into a team, I know their famous for not getting on but only 2 years ago they were World Cup finalists, yet 2 years later they look as though they've never met before. Nearly put a tenner on them at the start, glad I didn't.
Shame the games are at the same time, fully understand why it's always been that way but 2 games a day for 8 or 9 days just made me want more, not less! Chose to watch the Dutch last night, expecting them to really be going for it, hence it being a really good game, looks as though the German Denmark game was probably the one, Denmark were a real surprise packet for me and were unlucky to go out in such a hard group!

With the shirt pulling in the area I feel Refs are not having the balls to make decisions against the favoured top nations .

Both Spain & Germany had decisions go in there favour at crucial times .

Don't think refereeing has been too bad but some dodgy ones.

Yep, only 4 milion people. But in terms of population to success ratio, nobody beats Uruguay with 3 million.
