How would people feel about him signing a new contract for 3 years, on lower wages than he is currently (to reflect his age, etc)?

Everybody's an accountant now eh? Starting to piss me off this. If he is on £90k per week, and producing goals and assists then its money well spent. If we bought him for £1.5million then he is a bargain. Why are so many fans hell-bent on us scrimping and saving for another player?

We splashed out £70million on Henderson, Downing and Carroll, there should be more in reserve to build on this squad.

It's because we spent that cash, that we need to offload Maxi if we want new blood in. We can't trade them, probably not Cole either, so Maxi is the one who will have to give way. If Maxi as much as whispers about a return home to Argentina, I think we will jump at the chance. It's convenient and it will save people some headache. It's not the best for the club, but it's what I expect to happen. Have been expecting it for the past 10 months or so. All I'm waiting for is the reason/excuse as to why he had to go. Would be nice if we then replaced him with a player who could give us a goal every four games. I just wonder how much it will cost us.

If we could get him on lower wages it could be a good piece of business. I say give him a two year contract on Downings wages after we bin Downing. Downings on what about 70k a week?

Would be unhappy to see him leave. With us being in 4 competitions we need all the quality players we have.

Would love the 19th; but would love even more to see a fan owned LFC.

Better than paying that kind of money on the likes of Cole and Carragher who we could happily do without next season.

Maxi Rodriguez looks set to leave Liverpool this summer after Newell's Old Boys revealed they have agreed a deal to bring the forward back to Argentina.

Rodriguez, who began his career at the club before joining Espanyol in 2002, made just 12 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season.

Club secretary Pablo Morosano confirmed they were in regular contact with Rodriguez and were waiting for confirmation from Anfield.

"We are waiting for official news about the end of Maxi's link [with Liverpool]. There is ongoing contact and we have a contract agreed with him," Morosano told Ole. "But as long as his exit from Liverpool has not been settled, we cannot announce it."

Dont blame him to be honest.

Forget the playing time. Forget that he is settled here. Forget that he is on rumoured 90k a week.

He came in when the cancers were sucking blood, life and history out of our club. Gave us 100% on the pitch, irrespective of who, where or when. He wants to do something good to the club that launched him as a footballer. There is nothing wrong with it.

All the best Maxi.

I don't see how we can only sign 2/3 players this season, if Kuyt and Maxi have left/are leaving. Maxi will definitely have to be replaced, especially since we have Europe

Because I think the idea is that some younger players will get a decent chance, as well as some that have been on the outside looking in, i.e Aquilani, Cole, Pacecho, possibly even Suso, Sterling will definitely get games etc
