I think Wii U is likely to be a way's off. So far they've only announced PS3/360/PC and the Wii U is still new. They will have had fuck all time to work with it. Wii U copy probably won't be for a while after those three, if at all.

Wii U is out this winter and dev kits have been around for almost 18 months. Ubisoft are historically early adopters of tech so it's possible. They were there for the launches of the Wii and 3DS.

Anyway we'll find out soon enough. When's TGS?

Still. I think if we were going to get a Wii U copy straight out the gate they would've told us when they announced PS3/360/PC.

TGS is Sept 20 to Sept 23 this year according to wiki.

E3's been a bit of a clusterfuck this year. Companies have been announcing stuff outside of their conferences, which is a bit bizarre. EA have confirmed they're working on Madden and FIFA for the Wii U, as well as the Battlefield 3 version that got shown last year. I imagine Ghost Recon Future Soldier will get a Wii U port as well.

It just seems like E3 is all about wooing partners rather than actually showcasing their new stuff now.

It's become disappointing, that's for sure. I wish companies would start saving their big reveals for E3 once more. Don't know why, I don't like the look of the Wii U. Perhaps it's not 'traditional/ hardcore' enough for me, or I just think that'll we'll have a wii repeat on our hands.

See that doesn't make sense. What is traditional/hardcore? Is it Call of Duty? Is it Forza/Gran Turismo?

Games are games. Katamari Damacy looks dumb to a lot of people but I'd argue that it's more for hardcore gamers. It's such a daft term anyway, no one's a hardcore book reader. Hardcore scifi fan, sure, in which case just say you like FPS or RPG games. To prejudge a console before it's had a chance to even have a launch line up is a bit...I dunno.

The same people saying the Vita would cater more for the hardcore than the 3DS are now complaining that there's no games.

The Wii U is not even going to have the hardware power of a PS3 so I doubt Watch Dogs will be ported to it, and if it is then it will not look anything like the gameplay trailers. This game is going to be killer on the PC though.

Yeah I got that completely wrong! Read an article on the Wii U's gamepad specs and for some reason thought I was reading about the Wii U console itself. Turns out, the Wii U could be perfect for this type of game because it's CPU is largely based on the IBM Power7 (Watson computer) and will have great multi-threading capabilities and a large L3 cache. Couldn't find much about the GPU other than it's AMD based, but Watch Dogs will be very demanding on physics, particles, and AI processing.
All non-ravens are non-black.

Man, that looks phenomenal. Going by the commentary in that new gameplay video, there's no set mission or objectives. You just wander around and see where things take you.

I know it's coming to PS4, but two questions: Is it a launch title, and will it be on the next gen Xbox?

Ditto.

Looks great and I've always wanted a game like this. However, perversly, whenever I've played games where elements such as these are involved (a very crude example being tailing someone in AC), I've found those parts boring. Yeah, bit weird on my part.

I guess I want to be detective, finding out all kinds of shit and solving shit in a shit city. But not LA Confidential style, actually finding shit out myself and solving that shit.

Speaking of which, on a side note, this is what I wanted in a Batman game. Vast city, find scum/criminals, take down said scum, but Batman style.

Edit: of course I meant LA Noire, not Confidential  :D

Arkham City?

It's what I was hoping Arkham City would be when I first heard of a sequel but they contained it in a large 'prison', of course with a main story too. Some of the side quests of Arkham hints at what I was refering to in Watch Dogs (rescuing the political prisoners - but that was really basic, riddler to a degree and bullseye) but look at the latest demo posted above and that's what I wanted - huge bustling 'normal' city (not some kind of correctional facility), life just going on, crimes happening which you can come across/seek out, deal with. Don't get me wrong, Arkham City is a fantastic game, but I hope the next one would have that Watch Dogs vast city approach.

In short, the latest demo and the creative director's description - 'explore the city at will' 'no missions' 'just another day' - I just want a fucking massive 'real' city, normal shit going on with me as Batman sorting out the bad guys that live in it as and when I come across crimes - roam the rooftops, discover crimes (you know, from simple muggings - beat the shit out of scum to more involved stuff with bigger fish involved), solve them etc in addition of a main Batman story running through it - which naturally it has to have.
