Kind of sad this. I think this move is best for all parties (though wouldn't have minded him staying) but he's given a lot of memories and contributed a lot to this club. Played a huge part under Rafa, when we were one of the best teams in Europe and scored plenty of valuable goals. Thank you for your hat trick against the Mancs, the winner against Liege, the winner last season in the FA Cup, your goal against Cardiff and the penalty in the shootout, your goals in the legue, particularly 08/09, all the ones against Everton and plenty of others. And also for being the consummate professional on the pitch, wish we had more like that.

A sad day and I will miss him playing for LFC. Also sad how some supporters gave him a hard time lately. He ALWAYS gave everything and although he might not be the best
player ever he never hid....alot of our current remaining players should watch and learn from him.

Dirk always put in the effort and commitment on the pitch regardless of what form he was going through – or the team for that matter. He scored some crucial goals for us down the years and also he joined us as a striker but when moved to a different position, he still gave us his all. A real team player if ever I saw one.

He deserved to win more during his time here. But he had some great moments and I’m glad that he won something. So, good luck in Turkey. Hopefully he will win some more trophies and have a great time out there too. I wish him all the best for the future.

Not shocked but saddened by his departure. Wish him and his family all the very best for the future.

Apart from his 100% effort everytime he wore the shirt, will remember very fondly his reading at this years Hillsborough Memorial service.

Although at times he was frustrating to watch, he never gave less than 100% and was always a player you could depend on to put in a performance in the big games. Wish him all the best and we'll do well to get someone who makes as much of a contribution over the next 6 years.

Legend. End of. Not the greatest of players technically but his work rate was phenomenal. Unmatched in the premiership.

I am sure in 12 months time we will bemoaning letting him go a season too early like Hyypia, Hamann et al.

Only if we do not replace him well but of course a player with the qualities of Dirk will be difficult to replace.
