You seem very confident mate. I'd be getting that bowl on standby if I was you.

He's the new Nicolas Gaitan.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Nani, Ashley Young or Valencia has to leave if they've gotten him. I think it'll be Nani.
Manchester United could win fifty titles, but they will always be the Rolling Stones of football. Good, just not quite that band from Liverpool.

Moura...won't be going to Man Utd.

All bluster by Fergie to appease the fan base that they are after new players.

Same as last season.

Same with Moderic to them.

As I understand it no deal has been agreed.

Strange seeing Ferguson confirming interest in transfer targets. Nobody does that. unless you are Redknapp trying to look cool.

Brendan Rodgers does it.  So does Wenger.  So does Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas.  So does basically everyone.

Don't think Chelsea ever made a real bid for him. Simply because the amount mentioned would have meant Sao Paulo snapping their arms off.

After 1st August, Lucas and his agent get 30% of any transfer fee - instead of 20% prior. No surprise that they want to drag their heels. Still think he'll end up with the Mancs or Inter

If that's true, that would mean Sao Paulo would just demand a higher transfer fee than they are already to make up for it.

Manchester United poised to sign £30m Lucas Moura from Sao Paolo

Manchester United hope to complete the £30 million signing of Brazil winger Lucas Moura in the next 48 hours.

By John Percy12:00AM BST 05 Aug 2012

Moura was due to travel to Manchester for a medical today ahead of sealing his move from Sao Paolo. He is currently in this country as part of the Brazilian Olympic squad.

Ferguson remained in England yesterday while his team travelled to Norway for a friendly on Sunday.

The Scot is also applying pressure in his attempt to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal.

Nemanja Vidic is poised to make his first appearance in nearly eight months to ease a potential defensive crisis for Mr. Ferguson.

Vidic, the Manchester United captain, will play some part in a friendly in Oslo today as he bids to step up his recovery from the ruptured cruciate knee ligament injury he suffered in United’s Champions League defeat by Basle last December.

Ferguson, who has missed the trip to attend to club business, will take United to Everton for their Premier League curtain-raiser in a fortnight and is already without Chris Smalling, thanks to a broken metatarsal. Jonny Evans is also battling to be fit for the start of the season after foot surgery forced him to miss United’s summer tour of South Africa and China.

United could also lose Rio Ferdinand if he is found guilty by the Football Association of improper conduct, following his tweet about Chelsea defender Ashley Cole. Ferdinand is more likely to be fined, but should he receive a ban it raises the prospect of Ferguson having Vidic and Phil Jones as his central defensive pairing at Goodison Park.

Vidic’s return will therefore be vital for United, who face Valarenga today, before games against Barcelona in Gothenburg on Wednesday and Hanover on Saturday.

United’s Euro 2012 contingent, including Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra, Ashley Young and Nani, will also make their first appearances of the pre-season after returning from holiday.

Fortunately for them the debt isn't payable today. Their revenue streams surpass just about everybody in the game. The DHL sponsorship deal for their training kit alone is the 6th largest in the PL.

But...why? He's a winger/advanced playermaker type guy, that's not really what you need. Valencia/Young/Nani/Kagawa etc. Surely that should be spent on a midfielder, unless there's more to come.

I do think some of the Brazilian youngsters are horribly overpriced these days. It's a huge gamble.

I say if a team needs more than 1-2 players, it's safer to buy 1-2 good quality European based players. For example, ManU could have signed Kagawa and Cazorla together for less than 30 million pounds this summer. And those two may be better than Lucas.

Comparing a 27 year old and a 19 year old as like for like, dollar for dollar, in the transfer market is just a tiny bit disingenuous.

Which is what his point is, I believe. Lucas can turn out to be the next best thing to come out of Brazil since Kaka, but he could also turn out like Anderson. But at the price being quoted, you're taking a huge gamble.

^Exactly, Indian.

That's why I am against going for one big gamble these days. Kaka, Ibrahimovich, Torres, Ronaldo, Hazard, the quoted 60 million euro price for Neymar... I think all are crazy and not worth it. Of them, Ronaldo may have proven to have matched that price, but let's be honest here, a team wins, not a player. And if your team needs 3-4 players, it's better to address that than go for 1 overpriced.

I guess in the case of Real Madrid going for Ronaldo, it was somewhat understandable. They needed may be a player like that to compete with Barca. But ManU needs about 4-5 players. Pouring huge amount for Lucas doesn't make sense to me. They don't have a striker to play with Rooney, they don't have a top quality central and defensive midfielder, they'd improve if they signed a top quality right back and a central defender. Going for a kid for 30 million pounds? A winger? They are stocked there. I won't believe Ferguson will do that.

I don't believe they'll pour 50m on Van Persie & Lucas when their central midfield issue is yet to be resolved. They simply can't rely on Scholes & Carrick playing there much longer. Last year a lot of teams took points off them at Old Trafford way too easy and they got embarrassed in Europe on both fronts, they lost a good young player in Pogba and simply their central midfield won't play as good as last year as Carrick & Scholes are now a year older.

If Ferguson decides to spend, he'll spend it on a player of the mold of Javi Garcia or Javi Martinez.

Amazing how they can go out and spend £30 million on a player with all the debt they have.

That's like being amazed at someone buying a new kitchen when they have a mortgage. :/ . Individuals ,businesses, even countries, run on managed debt. They just signed a shirt deal worth £45 million a season, not long after signing a training kit deal with DHL for more than most clubs get for their match kit. Commercially they're out on their own.

Insight, Perspective, Objectivity.

No Delusions Here.

^Javi Martinez is too expensive, I doubt Ferguson will go for him.

There were also rumors about ManU going for Gaitan. It died down, because Benfica were asking 30-40 million euros. The prices are laughable these days. Gaitan for 30-40 million euros? He is not even a starter for Argentina.

I think Ferguson is planning to ship Berbatov away, and he may look for a replacement. Chicharito, Rooney and Wellbeck are OK, I guess, but they may go for a target man. On the wings, they have Nani, Valencia, Ashley Young and now Kagawa (can play there), doubt they will go for more. Their worst area is midfield. Fletcher is out with injury, Anderson is fat and shit and possibly leaving, they had to even call Scholes back out of retirement FFS.

So I think these Lucas rumors are just to bump up his price. You always get those, "among interested clubs are <enter big club names>".

That's true, but I still believe it will pay off for them.

I've watched a lot of him playing in Brasil, and he has the potential to be an absolutely amazing player.  He could reach the level that Ronaldinho was at his peak, at which point the Mancs will sell him to Real Madrid for 80 million and pay more down on the debt.

The risky part comes that he's quite raw.  He switches off for large parts of a match, and will have to adjust to the Premiership where you don't get fouls called just because you fling yourself to the ground and roll around a few times.  Having said that, I think under Ferguson he'll be an amazing player by the time he's 22, which is a shame because I had really started to like him at Sao Paulo.
