This is how a new manager of Liverpool Football Club should conduct himself during an interview. Respectful + impressive vision & attitude.

It was - I don't claim to know a massive amount about Rodgers, but I'm liking what I've seen and read so far.

Can someone please tell me where the press conference was aired??
In Holland, they don't say they are developing players - they say they are developing future coaches.

Brendan

"You earn respect. I've had to do that all my life. Never a good player - so I had to get respect another way. I treat people like I'd expect to be treated - morals and respect"

Brendan

"Over time you hope that it improves. Liverpool I hope is a destination. I hope I will be here for many years - that's the idea. A real special club. Looking forward to moving to the City - up North and Liverpool - It's vibrant City. It's about the progress of the team. Hopefully will improve over the years"

Brendan

"All I'll do is what I've done. I'll fight for my life - for the Supporters and the City - same as Swansea. I was quite realistic. Didn't want to make false promises. I'll give my life for the football club and represent the football club."

I love these comments. Welcome to Anfield Brendan. Now make us proud. :)
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

What was his intentions mentioning them four personalities?

I took it as an understanding of the role of "senior" players in any dressing room. If he loses them early doors he's dead in the water. Ask Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas. Once he is in and has had to time to gain the groups respect he can shunt one  or all to the side but not straight away.

It's a nod to them, not a kneel, a nod. Shows good awareness imo.
From here on in its all FSG's doing. Good or bad they will stand or fall by the decisions they have made in the summer of 2012. Lets hope they have gotten it right.

People keep bringing up Hodgson, and to be fair to him, even though he made huge errors, he still had to deal with a squad which lacked investment and were selling their best players at the same time.  So it wasn't an easy job.  He just made it harder.

Have to say, I was very, very impressed with Brendan's attitude, manner and answers. Didnt look flustered or nervous and some of his answers were really pleasing.

Most important of all for me, he didnt look out of place sat there or on the pitch.

Welcome to Anfield Brendan.

Far from meek, which has its advantages and disadvantages. He clearly has a very high opinion of himself and it may not have dawned on him yet exactly what it means to manage this club.

That high opinion is fine if you come with titles under your belt, but the tension between his answers and Ayre's makes it perfectly clear that he has demanded we dump the structure for his sake, which is a huge gamble, leaving us with no footballing oversight or a pull figure in the transfer market. If they were going to be put in that position, there were obviously other (far superior) options available for the role. To clarify, when asked both about a DoF or even a Sporting Director, the answer was no. Rodgers was also very strident about having rejected Liverpool at the first time of asking "because I didn't want to be part of a process". Romantic indeed.

We live in hope that the Billy Big Bollocks attitude will be matched with fluent, beautiful, winning football and understanding of the club, the city and the people.
And why is that a bad thing? I'm not entirely sold on him yet, but my opinion of him as risen after he said what he said about not wanting to work under a DOF. It shows he's ambitious and confident in his own methods. If I were to take on a project, I wouldn't want my work undermined either, nor would I want to be told what to do.

I thought Brendan Rodgers said all the right things. Perhaps a little too well, to the point that I suspect he was well coached. I've no problem with that as two years ago we all watched the new manager of LFC lose the goodwill of some sections of the support before the end of his inaugural press conference. I do like his choice of the word 'destination', says a lot about how he considers the club.

What really made an impression though was his very assured manner. The right mix of humbleness and confidence. That would not be so easy to coach. Looking forward now to moving forward together.

very impressed with his overall demeanour, calm, assertive and articulate. Also looks like he has a bit of steel and inner strength. He was able to take on players at Swansea who werent considered prem level and were 'hoofers' and convinced them that thye could play the ball to feet and stay calm when in possession. If he can do that with the playing resources that he had there then I'm sure he can spot that potential in our current squad and our academy. So lets not get hung up on raiding Swansea to replicate whay he had there, lets see what he can do with our squad. Think players like sterling, shelvey, henderson, kelly, coates, enrique, agger, skrtl, Pepe, luis, maxi, and Kuyt if he stayed will benefit from his philosophy. Have doubts about Downing, Adam, spearing tho.......not sure how it will play with Stevie and think Carra needs to step down now as he can't play in a BR team. Others from the academy could also step uo and get chances.
let me see LFC win one more title before my time is up!

His first job is to stand up to Gerrard. There should be only one boss at this club. And it's not Stevie G.
Football has reached the ninth gate of farce and pathetic, unbelievable trite nonsense. It's supposed to be a game and it's turned into pantomime, hype, quilts and bellends.
