Haha, yes. Me.

What do you class as consistently, both Juve and Milan only gave him enough games so as not to trigger the buying clause, which I believe was a round 25 in both cases.

Erm, what? He was our best player during the pre-season last year and had a public argument with Comolli. It was nothing to do with not being good enough.

Also, I'm sick of people using the injury stick to beat him with when he's played more games than Gerrard over the past 2 seasons. Just because we signed him when he was crocked, doesn't mean he's a perma-crock.

Seriously, some of you shouldn't even be allowed to talk about him if you've not even watched him the past two years.

Why are you defending a player who's lacked any sort of commitment to us. He's a bad tit and wish he would get the fuck off the wage bill.

He was clearly good enough to be a starter but he chose to go back to Italy.

You're trying too hard. Gerrard had a career threatening injury. Aquilani had his first ever season without a substantial lay off since his full debut season for Roma and a season where he missed a couple months with 'an ankle knock'. And the sum total of that was Aquilani played the equivalent of 10 full 90 minutes more. This is not a comparison which you want to be making if you're arguing that Aquilani is somehow a reliable option.

Not just for our own good though but for the good of football in general. Players need to know that signing a contract means something, and legally it still does and until that changes we hold all the cards he has two years left on his contract. He stays and plays. That's all there is too it, if he shines then he may get the much wanted move away, use Xabi as an example. Touted around for Ģ16m no one wants to buy, has one terrific season and he's wanted all over Europe, and the quote unquote biggest club in the world come in for him for Ģ30m.

I can't argue with any of that. Spot on.

Would he have perhaps played more if there wasn't a 25 game ceiling on the loan deal?

I'm astonished anyone can suggest he wants to ay for us, his actions, or lack thereof, speak volumes.

Talented footballer he may well be but he'd never run through a brick wall for this club (maybe not for any club).

I want him gone & off the balance sheet. Time to cut losses & move on.

If he'd shown the form he'd shown late last autumn when he returned from injury, I doubt that Milan would be the only team willing to accept him if he cuts his wages by 50% and goes on a free or minimal transfer fee. Comparing him to a crocked Gerrard as somehow a benchmark of reliability remains ludicrous whichever way it's cut.

Two questions we'd need to ask.

1. If we held Aquilani to his contract would he be a first team regular if fit.
2. Who could we get for Ģ3m to replace him.
3. What does it look like to the rest of the world when we constantly get shafted by other clubs, on both sides of transfer deals.

Summarised right there.

Milan had a 25 game clause which they closed out at 23.5. Juve didn't have any such clause but Aquilani was cup-tied for Europe, so they played him in every game he was eligible for, which was every game bar 1 where he was injured. In both cases they wringed every drop of usage out of him without committing themselves. I only wish we were as nousy, rather than insisting on screwing ourselves at every opportunity. I'll go spare if we buy an attacking LB for a goodly amount of money, a season after letting Insua go for free.

Don't understand how people can still defend this guy and want the club to chase after him.

It's simple, if he wants to play at Liverpool, he will. We bought him whilst injured, maligned and for a disproportionate price and invested a lot of faith and belief in him. If at any stage in these series of farcical loans and news reports he had wanted - truly wanted - to stay and play for Liverpool, he would have done. He is contracted to us and we pay his wages. If he resolved to play for us, he would.

What are we going to do without Aquilani on the books?

I remember a couple of seasons ago I had quite a strong opinion about him.  His cameos were the best part of the 09/10 season.

But after over 2 years of reading page after page of garbage I don't think I could give the slightest fuck where he ends up.

If it somehow turns out he is going to wear a red shirt again then great I'll get behind him.  Until then I couldn't care less.  And if he fucks off I couldn't care less.

Aquilani has missed very few games through injury since coming back from injury in Oct 2009 he has had one significant injury in over two and a half years. You simply cannot make the same argument for Gerrard.

One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

2. Who could we get for Ģ3m to replace him.
3. What does it look like to the rest of the world when we constantly get shafted by other clubs, on both sides of transfer deals.

Given you're a newbie with only 375 posts, we thought we'd go easy on you.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Why do we fail so badly at simple things.
Wake up, will ya pal? If you're not inside, you're outside, OK? And I'm not talking a $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being comfortable, I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars buddy. A player. - Gordon Gekko

Oh dear, those days are long gone

Of course cut him off the balance sheet if you wish but what will you say or do if our new manager wants to keep him.

I donīt object to you playing football manager but please donīt think itīs real

Vic, I never have (& never will) play football manager.

I just want the players to put in every ounce of effort they can, I'm sure you do too. It doesn't seem a coincidence that successive LFC managers have allowed him to go out on loan, if he really wanted to play for LFC he has the talent to do so, so I reach the conclusion that he doesn't want to live or work in the uk

I don't believe the days of players trying hard are gone, & judging by his press conference I'm sure that Brendan Rodgers agrees that effort & a desire to represent the club & the city to the best of your abilities is a minimum requirement.

IF Aquliani changes his attitude & demonstrates a determined desire to play every week for LFC at a consistently high level then fine, but given the past two loans I'm not expecting him to stay.
