Lars Bender would be a great signing and is gettable.

Would be the first player other than Sigurdsson, I'd be looking to sign this summer.

Deffo..I'd always believed that if we cannot get say ,a big money DM(CM) like Banega or Martinez,we should get one of the Benders.
And of course, since Lars made the cut ahead of Sven,Lars would be great.

If we're going shopping in the Eredivisie, Jordy Clasie is probably the type of player Brendan Rodgers is looking for.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

But neither Lars nor Banega are DM's really. They are the midfielders who would perform to their best alongside a DM/Holding Midfielder.

What about Ander Herrera? He's brilliant in Bielsa's team so I'd assume he'd be perfect for Brendans as well.
Only thing I'd be unsure about is his price.

Can the mods not add an auto-correct of "dear bellend please insert name of one Brendan Rodgers" ala Craig Douglas Bellamy.

Yup this Gylfi speculation is gonna run I think, if he's going to Swansea sense would say it would be wrapped by by early next week at the latest.

Made me laugh, that reply..

"B-r0d" just sounds so "cutesy", "feminine"(not a problem, just not becoming of a man in whom we trust to lead us into battle) and "gay"(see "feminine" before this). I actually have this feeling of my intestines being "disturbed" and other times, a surge of negative energy or possibly "bile"(possibly "emerald" in colour), slowly creeping up from my gut to my neck when I read that, but I suppose we should live and let live. I would be massively disappointed and ashamed if it ever catches on. We'd come across so Spice Girlsie, Captain Planeteers, Halo-"ites', little Ninja Turtle-esque when we're belting that out- broad-chested and in full voice over at Old Trafford for all the world to hear!

Rodgers make look at the squad and decide there are players already here (young players) that can do the job Gylfi would do. Every penny of the transfer kitty will have to be used wisely as I don't see us making much money via sales.

Getting the wage bill down is also very important, Kuyt/Maxi/Cole/Aquilani are all on big money

Being on big money when you are integral to the team isn't a problem, it's being on big money if you are a bit part player. I have no problem with the likes of Aquilani being on big money if they play more often then they don't.

Exactly. We are lucky that there are many current players (Rafa's mostly) that can fit in his system. We have a few attacking midfielders. I have a feeling that he will want to reinforce other places.

Why Rodgers? Lets go all first name and cool, you know like Rafa and Kenny. I'm just going to call him Brendan. No scratch that, let's all just call him Buck. I'm sure the owners will like that. Fenway Sports Group are proud announce Buck as the Liverpool Warriors manager for the season, yeah Buck definitely has a good ring to it.  :P

Seems he really wants him then, and if he doesn't go to Swansea, he's as good as ours you would have to think.

Fair play by Rodgers again, he's giving Swansea every chance, but ultimately leaving it up to the player to decide, which is fair enough.

Very interesting quotes there.

Have a feeling we'll be signing him very soon. If he knows Brendan wants him at Anfield, he's unlikely to opt for Swansea. Nice of the boss to say he'll encourage Gylfi to speak to the new Swans manager though.

When did he actually say this though. I'd be surprised if he has said this to a tabloid reporter (he's not Redknapp) and most of that interview looks like the one he gave to Talk Sport, but with the Gylfi bit added in.
He just doesn't seem like the kind of manager who would talk about another teams player like that.

Think he's doing a bit of a media tour at the moment, getting the message out. As for it sounding like the TalkSPORT interview, the TalkSPORT interview sounded very similar to the Five Live one. He's just using the same rehearsed talking points, to get a consistent message across. Maybe he spoke to the Mirror's guy and he asked about Gylfi. Don't think he said anything inappropriate.

Yes your right about the interviews sounding the same. But I just don't think he would have spoke about a direct target, even if they had mentioned Gylfi. I think he would have side stepped it a bit. He has mentioned transfers in other interviews, but just said he knows he has to bring in players and has a few in mind.

But the fee has been agreed and if Gylfi really wanted to go Swansea that bad then it should of been sorted by now hasn't it been a week or so?
