Not typical of lfc managers to tap up players in the press.

You're at lfc Rodgers, change your habits.

Would be lovely to see some instances of where he's "tapping up" players  ::)

You can't compare Gerrard performanes with Gylfi because far too often Gerrard has been as to play in CM and I'll be kind and say Gerrard is no longer 'great' there. You play Gerrard in the attack third (as Rafa quickly discovers) and he becomes one of the most prolific attackers in the country.

Truth is if you asked the player what is the key reason for moving to Swansea chances are the answer would be because of the manager and training methods. I suspect the delay in Gylfi delaying his signature is he wants to see who the future manager is.

Couldn't care less that he's a United fan. As for the trawler comment, who cares? He was taking the piss. Somehow think he'd rather earn tens of thousands a week at Anfield than earn a living fishing.

The deal seems to be to not try and buy any Swansea players, at this moment in time Sigurdsson is a Hoffienhiem player. Would of thought that makes him fair game. Not seen a lot of him but he seems highly rated at a fair price. As for being a Manc supporter, unfortunate but then Carragher was a bluenose, plus a few more I could name! We've not had great luck buying players that supported Liverpool as kids. Keane being an example but there's a fair few more of them as well!
Seems he's on his hols, and Swansea seem to have it sown up apart from the actual signature, so we'll see if Rodgers was his main reason for wanting to stay at Swansea.

Thing is if it was me and it was the other way around, and I was wanted by Utd I'd say to my agent get Liverpool on the phone and tell them Utd want to sign me, but I only want to go to Liverpool so get it sorted quick smart. I'd never have played for Utd, maybe that's just me, but couldn't have done it, but if I was good enough to have played for Utd I know I'd have been rated enough to play for virtually any other team, and someone would take me. As it was I was shit at footy so didn't have that dilema :(

Er, no, you'd call him a footballer. If I offered you a job working at Next (after you'd had a successful internship on the shopfloor) and gave you a contract, and then you get a phone call from Harvey Nichols, saying they were interested in your joining while you are still to sign your contract, what would you do?

Being "good enough" isn't really that relevant though. As far as I'm aware, United have shown no interest in signing him. Plus, they seem to be going after Kagawa quite strongly.

It's all well and good saying "I'd never play for them", but no one knows how they would react if they had an offer from a club which is essentially the only big club in for them.

Personally I think alot of his comments were for the Swansea supporters so it doesn't seem, like he is hijacking the deal

It would appear he's still available for less than £7m, so no great headache that we didn't get him earlier.

Regardless of what he's said about us years ago, I think his professionalism at Swansea is to be admired.  If Rodgers hadn't left then the contract would already be signed, which from his interviews seems to be because he enjoyed his time at Swansea and appreciated the opportunity he was given.  Again, I like the attitude I've seen from the lad and it doesn't fit in with an image of some dissing loud mouth kid.  He's matured both on and off the pitch and I really hope we get him.

Wouldn't mind seeing him here. And I think some people make way too much out of him apparently being a United supporter. Solskjęr was a Liverpool supporter, was member of the official scandinavian branch of the supporters club, and turned out to do alright for them ;)

I think he would be a good, smart signing for us and I would presume he would play a free role in between midfield and defence, with Gerrard and Lucas in midfield. Plus he would give us what we need in that position, in terms of being good on the ball and the ability to score goals from there. People bang on about creativity but I think players in such roles need to contribute quite well in terms of scoring.

My only slight concern would be a lack of pace, but its not a massive concern. I think its imperative though that we pick up at least one really good winger.

Also, I still cannot see Suarez playing off the right or left wing, whatever free role we give him. I know that before he signed people felt he couldn't play up front alone but to be fair he has been brilliant there. He has done well physically and his ability to scare central defenders I think makes him too valuable to play deeper or have any sort of defensive responsibility. Someone mentioned Lionel Messi being moved from off the right to up front and I agree completely with that. His only issue was his finishing, which he would have to improve.

Who has said he is our level of ambition? And like it or not, he is a good prospect available for decent money. I bet people would have been moaning their tits off if it was us going for the likes of Cisse in january. As it is right now, we cannot attract players like Hazard, Hulk etc. Once we get back in the CL it might be a different story, but as of now, we need to buy smart and find quality prospects at clubs without CL that haven't been on other top clubs radar for too long.
