Leave your negativity at the door, come inside...
« on: May 30, 2012, 08:16:43 PM »
I just want to preface this by saying I thought that Rafa was the man for the job because we need to steady the ship in the shortest time possible.

Whatever opinion I may have had. I will say that Brendan Rodgers has the footballing philosophy to strive at this club given time. Being a great passing and pressing side is in our DNA and i'm excited hes got this opportunity should it all go through.

I know a lot of supporters wont be happy with the appointment, some will be more than satisfied, and others will be on the fence.

But lets be fair and give the guy the confidence and time to let him put his stamp on this side. Lets be patient, lets not fucking moan after 5 games that Kenny should never have left etc. It will do us no good.

Good luck Brendan should you get the job,..I'm sure most will be 100% behind you and give you the chance you deserve.

I'm made up, he looks like a good call, ticks all the right boxes, and now hopefully everyone can stop bickering and we can all support LFC again.

He'll do a good job if given the time.

I'm elated it wasn't Martinez, dodged a bullet there if you ask me.

Welcome, Brendan Rodgers!!

I can get behind this lad. He hasn't pissed me off or given me reason to want him out.

If he can be his own man, largely fuck the media off. Not suck up to Sky, LMA, Ferguson and the FA then I think he'll do fine.

The story is not over yet in terms of our management, but for the record I'm bloody happy Brendan Rodgers has been appointed and I support him.

I'm also realistic enough to hope he's got tough skin, what with the bellends in our fanbase probably calling for his head if he doesn't win the first 5 games. Good luck Brendan, I'm behind you.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

Good luck to him. Hopefully you're right in that we can stop the bickering on here for a while now that we have a manager. At least until the start of the season!

I was happy when the news started to break that it would be Rodgers. Excellent philisophy. It is a gamble, sure, but so is everything.

As for 'needing Rafa to steady the ship' - the ship didn't need steadying, just results needed addressing. I didn't want Dalglish to go, but I'm happy with Rodgers and I hope his first season performance gives him the passport to stay for a long time at this club

Rafa was never in the frame for the job and anyone who doesn't understand why needs to first figure out how the business of football works.

Thankfully the books closed now...

Rodgers style of play might just be what the team needs to be honest...

Everyone just needs to back the man, and if they can't, then don't go the games. Had enough of the negativity at home games. Next season its time to get behind the new manager and the players; too many moaners, not enough supporters.

Can only see it being worse next season to be honest. If the fellas in front of me can shout shit at Kenny, they'll be shouting it at the new manager 15 minutes in.

woeful isn't it. I sat through the Fulham game with a mum and child behind me shouting abuse at Carroll for 90 minutes and then had the cheek to moan that people leaving early were not 'real supporters'. I actually prefer away games and its because of 'fans'

I said in the Martinez thread that if he was given the job, I would get right behind him. I didn't particularly want him as manager of my club, but then I didn't really know who I did want. Since Kenny went I was a bit lost, and disillusioned with it all.
For some reason, today when I heard Rodgers would be named, it seems like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can look forward, and hopefully see improvement. I don't know a lot about him except he did a god job at Swansea, I don't know his tactics or his preferred Line-ups, but he always seemed decent and fair to me when I saw him on interviews.
As the thread title says! hopefully now we can get back to being fans, without being at each others throats, wherever we are from, or for however long we have been reds, lets get behind him, and get this club back to where it should be!

Get off the fence mate, get behind our team... we'll get out whatever we put in, and that's a collective responsibility. Lets give whoever (looks like Rodgers) all the support we can to help him, he is after all here to work to improve our fortunes.

True. I guess it's a hangover from losing Kenny. I don't think anyone who got the job would seem right after Kenny. So, fair enough, let's give this Rodgers a fair shot and get right behind him.

Agreed. It's quite simple for me: I support the  manager 100% unless they do anything to make me change my mind (like turning on the fans).

Starting off apathetic and watching to  see if they do anything to impress you is not a way I wish to support our new manager.

Good appointment and I'm happy and excited for the next season. All football fans were impressed with Swansea's play last season, and given the player names, you could only credit the manager.
I still have great sympathy for Kenny and Rafa. Kenny should have had another year and Rafa should never have been sacked in the first place. And Rafa accepting a job with another premier league team remains a scary thought.
Rodgers (is his nickname really the 25th century "Buck"?) has big shoes to fill and he'll likely need at least a season to get us playing in his style.
Also, let's hope that the new club structure removes any suggestion of player power....

I for one am absolutely made up! I can't wait to see Brendans style of play and although I think it will take some time it'll be worth the wait. I don't think i've seen a truly negative response from anyone yet but then again i've not looked properly.

I don't think we did Geoff, however we haven't looked or sounded like Liverpool fans for a few weeks now, with all the Verbals on here I'd say we've been pretty small time. We need to be bigger than that and stand up against adversity, to show the media, the FA and any other fucker who wants to have a pop that we are still Liverpool FC and well not break at the slightest thing, we've been through worse times than this, but you would think we had crumbled the last few weeks!

Patience, lads...

If the last four managers are any guide, it'll take at least a dozen games before we have any clear indication as to whether he's going to be a success in the first season or not.

Everyone should now fall into line.

He needs a fair chance  - for all our sake
If my assistant had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty and sent off goalkeeper Patr Cheh. he beeped me to signal the foul. The noise from the crowd  stopped me hearing it, I have been involved at places like Barcelona, Ibrox, Old Trafford, Arsenal, but I've never in my life been involved in such an atmosphere. IT WAS INCREDIBLE
