RAWK Statement on Brendan Rodgers, new Liverpool Manager.
« on: May 30, 2012, 04:59:27 pm »
Brendan Rodgers is the new manager of Liverpool.
We at RAWK have always firmly believed that one of the strengths of being a Liverpool supporter is that we support the manager. We welcome him to our club and sincerely hope he understands the culture and history and requirements of one being manager at Liverpool Football Club, one of the major jobs in the world of football.

There may be some fans on here who did not wish for his appointment, perhaps preferring any number of other candidates. Let us make one thing clear: We support our manager. Full stop. If any of you are unable to do that, you will find yourselves looking for another fansite to post on. Liverpool supporters are meant to do things the right way and make no mistake, we will remove persistent whingers, moaners, nostalgists and petty posters from this site without a second thought.

Welcome Brendan, you've a bloody big pair of boots to fill. Good luck and welcome and all the best from us at RAWK :wave
Yep.

As usual, Kev puts it better:

Gentlemen,

I started watching Liverpool in the late 70's, Kenny is my hero.  I was gutted by his departure, he deserved better.  He has gone though, and Brendan Rodgers did not kick him through the door.

I loved the very bones of Rafa, I would have followed the feller to the ends of the earth, and we did, well the ends of the continent anyway.  The way he was stabbed in the back hurt me even more than the recent departure of Kenny.  He has handled himself impeccably since he left and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the man.  However, he is not coming back, not now, perhaps not ever. We need to accept that and move on.

We need to get behind our new promising young manager. We need to back him to the hilt and give him the time and the chance to build his own dynasty. Give him the chance to eventually take his own place in the pantheon of our affections alongside Bill, Bob, Kenny, Rafa et al.
Yep.

Useless bastard hasn't even signed anyone yet...
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

I'm in VDM's corner on this one. I have a problem with how our new manager arrived, but I have nothing but good wishes for the man himself. I'll give him nothing but support, and I hope he goes on to become an LFC legend and a giant of a manager for us.

Hear, hear. 100% behind the man and the red men he takes to the field in every game. Whatever goes on above him, he has the integrity to command our undivided support until such a time as he is no longer out manager. May that be many successful and trophy laden years to come.

meaning what mate? this is a Liverpool fansite, not a free for all for all and sundry to use it as a soapbox. Just as we wouldn't like Utd fans coming on here gloating away, people who just want to take the piss out our new manager without rational debate can equally fuck off.

I have no rational basis for it but I also have a very good feeling about our new fella. He's certainly said all the right things so far. Again, like everyone else here, it might be the cheeky Aussie cabsav making me feel warm and fuzzy. Still, fingers x'ed and all the best. I can't wait until next season.

Why the sudden bump?
Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

Just read in another thread that ye man is four foot two ? How's he supposed to stand next to Carroll in a line up without looking daft ? Only time will tell, 20 pounds sterling we win the league.

As long as he does his best, cares about the players and the fans, knows and takes the club's illustrious history & tradition to heart - he gets my support.

Oh, that and regularly spanking the likes of Everton and Le Mancs, occassionally schooling the best of Europe at football.

Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released

We've got a brand new boss
Looks like a Jaguar
He's got tactical smarts
He's gonna sign some players (players, players, players...)

But I don't wanna talk about it anymore

I think we're gonna make it
I think we're gonna save it yeah
So don't you try and fake it
Anymore, anymore

The departure of Kenny still bothers me - but its that, the sacking, that i hugely disagree with, not the choice of new manager. Kenny deserved more - and who knows, hopefully, maybe one day he might get another caretaker chance to end in style. It was an absolute pleasure watching a Liverpool FC team managed by the great man.

No problems with Brendan Rodgers at all, fingers crossed he will do very well here. He's got his own history to make at this club now - Good luck Brendan - Make Us Dream.

Yeah think we all pretty much agree about Kenny, apart from the phone in idiots, but nows time to move on.
Just a gut feeling but feel FSG may have made an inspired choice in Brendan Rodgers, he ain't no Hodgson who lost my backing almost as soon as he opened his mouth.
Our new boss has been handed a really difficult start to the season, which I fully expected and mentioned it a few times, so if things don't go great at first, he needs our backing not barracking. Its not his fault the FA's totally unbiased fixture computer couldn't of handed him a more difficult start at home, surprised the aways aren't as bad ( love a good conspiracy ). If he gets 6 points from those first 3 home games and does well in the aways in between, I reckon we could be in for a good season.
Welcome to Liverpool FC Brendan, now you just need to get used to the press wanting you to fail instead of the support they gave you at Swansea.( I know a little belated ).
