Eden Hazard to Chelsea
« on: May 28, 2012, 11:51:46 AM »
L'Équipe and Eurosport both claim Eden Hazard is close to agreeing a €40m Chelsea move complete with a 5-year contract on €126,900 per week.

Rory Smith ‏@RorySmithTimes
I am led to believe Eden Hazard announces his future at 5pm UK time tonight.

Eden Hazard is to leave the Belgium squad to travel to London for a medical at #CFC's Cobham training ground. (via @LOSCNewsEng) -S

It's a smokescreen. He's actually in Miami talking to Roberto Martinez about joining Liverpool.

Sounds dirt cheap to me... relatively speaking. Well within our affordability had we been able to dine at the top table still.

Yeah.  Spot on.  We spent more than that on Andy Carroll.  The wages wouldn't have been a problem either given that is what we pay Stevie and chances are that is the calibre of player we are looking at with Hazard.

Not even close. We pay Stevie GBP 120k  a week on the last count, not EUR 126k

Was a bit lazy with the exchange rate but yeah seems like according to current rates, 126k EUR is about 101k GBP.  That all things considered is like you've pointed out not the steepest.

Personally I think those wages are ridiculous for a 21 year old coming from Ligue 1.

If this is true, how quickly is Mata's agent firing up an email demanding he gets an improved contract?

Looks like chelsea are going to spend some money this summer.

They had a bit of a scare in the league this season. A penalty shoot-out away from missing CL qualification.

Think they realise they need to capitalise on their luck this summer.

Chelsea are gonna be speding big this summer. They'll be after a top striker to replace Drogba. My guess Llorente/Falcao.

It´s depressing to see that just like in the Hulk thread people don´t even discuss the posibility or wish for this player to come to LFC.

And it´s even more depressing that it´s just the way it is.... :(

Seems a world class talent, if a bit of a bell. Still would've loved to get him. Quality player, he'll do well for them. But he was all about this thing where he wanted to play his beloved #10 role. Mata plays that at Chelsea, so one of them is going to get shafted out to the wing.

I think he'll sign for Manchester United. As you said - the lad is a complete dick, so would fit in seamlessly at Old Trafford.

I have no doubt he'll be a great player for Chelsea though. Has the arrogance of a top player without the show pony attitude on the pitch, outstanding player. I won't be disappointed if we have to settle for Kagawa though.

Mata-Marin-Eden.

That does look spectacularly tasty especially considering they would be playing behind Torres and the style of play of these guys will suit him a lot more as well.  They are doing some good business at least on paper.

Good signing for Chelsea if true.  Bit of an arrogant ass but a promising talent.  Chelsea look like they're building a good squad.  Thing is if they spend too much on players and wages then surely FFP would come into play eventually?!?

I am not pissed about Chelsea getting Hazard. We never stood a chance to be honest. What I'm pissed about is Swansea signing Sigurdsson for £6.8 Million. We could have really done with a player like him in our team.
