No DoF doesnt necessarily mean no SD right?
And would Rodgers be able to handle all on his own?now that's a worry.

I'd rather a manager got the players he wanted.

He is accountable at the end of the day and needs his types of players to give him the best chance to make it work.

Pass and move,it's the Liverpool Way  ;)

You forgot score. We did lots of the other two this season with no end result.

Hmm.

That would be strange, because it would go completely against what we've been told in the last couple of weeks.

Really? What about the new structure? That going out the window then? Hope the club know what they're doing as it seems a bit haphazard at the moment.
The only thing i can think of is that Rodgers has impressed them so utterly that he's convinced them that he's the person to put the new structure in place? Or something along those lines.

Touch more...concerned now. We'll see though over the next few days.
And when you find yourself along the untrodden path
Remember me with a smile, a drink, a gesture or a laugh
And a toast for the man who loves every hour of every day
And a feast for the friends and faces met along way

That's because we had the wrong players playing the right thing.Downing and an out of position Henderson and an off form Kuyt, without Gerrard for most of the season was going to be hard.

If its true and there's no Van Gaal sitting above hit them thats great news. Van Gaal would have sold him down the river to get in the dugout eventually IMO.

Will be interesting to see if Segura is still being promoted and whether we bring in a deal maker to work on transfers.

Absolute joke. Liverpool fans have been excusing FSG for not attempting to get Rafa back by saying Rafa wouldn't work under a DOF, SD and now we find out FSG are willing to throw their idea out of the window for a manager that has achieved the sum of absolute nothing in football.

Either Martinez or Rodgers would leave me slightly underwhelmed. That said I like the style in which Rodgers had Swansea play and I'd be intrigued to see what he could do with better players.

Control is fine mate, but at the end of the day,Dalglish had control too,and yet DC was there as DoF.
There is always a chance of appointing a senior SD who can take care of internal issues and yet give the manager a degree of control.
Look at the club, the enormous structure, the egos and everything.Would a 39 y/o be able to handle that?
I m not saying get Van Gaal, but a sporting director couldve helped here.

Yeah, would be a kick in the stones for Benitez if there is no DOF or SD appointed.

If it is to be Rogers, kudos to Swansea for keeping a lid on the whole thing as well, in stark contrast to Whelan and his posturing.

good point.
From here on in its all FSG's doing. Good or bad they will stand or fall by the decisions they have made in the summer of 2012. Lets hope they have gotten it right.

Agreed. Slightly worried about giving Rodgers full control but he does seem to have excellent football ideas and philosophies.

Who's handling player contracts/ fees though? Surely Rodgers won't do that?

Far better choice than Martinez. Better style of football, despite what the press say, and far more pragmatic and able defensively. His football can be choking to the sides they face, and that an obt be a good thing.
