Nice to know we are a priority isnt it.  Jeez, I bloody despair.

That articles is from 2011 - From 2011: http://www.nesn.com/2010/04/billy-hogan-mark-lev-named-comanaging-directors-at-fenway-sports-group.html

Nothing in the Bloomberg article suggests he will be doing anything other than just looking after LFC.

Good move to have him in Liverpool.  Also interesting to see Ayre do all the negotiations.  Personally think it's a good idea, since based on our commercial deals it appears Ayre is a good negotiator.

I'd agree with this.  Some may dislike Ayre, but he has proven himself good at producing deals so having him doing the negotiating on contracts/transfers might work.  As long as the players are identified by the manager/scouting team.

The recent backlash against Ayre, which is seemingly only a reaction to "winning the FA Cup wouldn't have mattered" is nothing short of absurd.

"I think it's great and it shows FSG are learning"... ehm, how exactly? How would anyone know?

All we have is evidence that Ayre should be away from operational areas of the club. In geostationary orbit. But we've instead given him more operational responsibility.

I'd be terrified, mortified, petrified if that is true. Ayre probably doesn't even watch any matches other than us.

I read it as he would be change of just the business angle, e.g. actually negotiating the transfer fee, contract renewals. Nothing to suggest he'd be picking players. That would be the other half of the split DoF role still to be filled.

What's absurd is that you don't understand the extent of the criticism, to be frank.

This guys success will be directly linked to our transfer budgets going forwards so from me the very best of luck fella.
From here on in its all FSG's doing. Good or bad they will stand or fall by the decisions they have made in the summer of 2012. Lets hope they have gotten it right.

From 2011: http://www.nesn.com/2010/04/billy-hogan-mark-lev-named-comanaging-directors-at-fenway-sports-group.html

"Hogan, who joined the company in 2004, earned the promotion after being credited with bolstering revenue for clients such as MLBAM, Fenway Park, the Deutsche Bank Championship and Boston College Athletics. He will continue his role securing sponsorships for MLB.com as well as Major League Baseball’s 30 individual club Web sites."

I expect Warrior and LFC / LFC games to be heavily featured in Baseball coverage.

Honestly, I wonder if some of you ever learned to read.  The article in question does not say that Ayre will be identifying potential transfer targets or who should be sold on the current squad.  All it says is that he will be responsible for the negotiating aspects of transfer fees and player contracts.  It's fairly straight forward.

Now, if you don't like Ayre, that's your choice.  I'm not arguing whether or not he's up to the task.  But at least comprehend what is being reported.  For my sanity, please.

Hopefully the article is correct and Hogan will be located in old England.  Last thing this club needs is another exec living in New England.

I dont see that happening especially as he is keeping his current responsibilities - " He will continue his role securing sponsorships for MLB.com as well as Major League Baseball’s 30 individual club Web sites."

From what I've seen, and please correct me if I'm wrong, he has had a positive impact on the commercial side of LFC. So if I'm reading the article correctly and we're removing him from aspects of control of a football nature and keeping him more where he is just commercial is a good thing surely?

We don't have to like the man as long as we have other people isolating him from areas where he is not suited to be?

Ayre's slipped into the catch-all scapegoat role fairly effortlessly in the last few weeks. Is he really satan incarnate?

Not yet, but he's on the short(long)list for the job.
Al would no doubt be able to fill in the gory details, and I'm waiting to hear exactly what role/responsibilities Ayre is given, but the sheer fact that our comercial director has been 'promoted' and given an extended contract should ring a few bells, especially considering he's the only link to our not so glorious(under H&G) past. And he appears to be the only 'man on the ground' in the UK, at a time when we need a new manager, and that Rafa, it would appear is being completely swerved.
You are on a mad cocktail of drugs, alcohol and funny glasses.

The comedown will be brutal.

Seems like Ayre is just the negotiator/money/contract man and the DOF will be more like a head scout to steal an American/Billy Beane term. I'm not sure if the hysterical reactions are warranted.

That's exactly what it's going to be.  I'm not sure why all of a sudden everyone thinks Ayre is going to be the one picking out the players we sign? :o He just ends up negotiating the contracts and transfer fees of the players given to him by the scouting team/technical director/manager/whoever.

That quote is from an article from last summer. The Bloomberg article states he is currently head of all of FSG's marketing but will be relocating to Liverpool to assume the role of commercial director for the club.

makes sense that he'd doing negotiating in a way

obviously he'll have some guidelines and educate himself as to the right sort of money , do we really want a comolli who is helping choose the players then paying whatever price it takes to get them?
I think I may be turning gay. That back heel & through ball to Enrique made me jizz like Ive never jizzed before. My fiancee has got some serious work to do if she wants to get me as excited as I do about Coutinho.
