I think he'd be a decent shout.

I think he'd be good in the same way that, forgive me, Hodgson wasn't. Martinez's brand of football suits a big club like Liverpool who have the ability and confidence to dominate, while you could argue Hodgson's suited a smaller club with more limited talent and resources.

Martinez wouldn't be my first choice, but I can see the potential.

Some sense finally.

My hope is that they're doing this so openly to show that the manager position is in demand, and that we'd welcome good candidates putting themselves in the frame

Tony Evans ‏@TonyEvansTimes

Getting very strong indications that it won't be Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas for LFC. And, unfortunately, it won't be Rafa

Why do people keep quoting Tony Evans off twitter? He knows fuck all.

Tony Barrett on the other hand....knows a little but not much more. Don't believe anything the journos say at the minute IMO.

One thing's for certain, whoever it is, we'd better get behind him 'cos we can't have another manager getting sacked in a year's time. This is the big one, they need to get it right and we have to support it.

Fuck. Me. Pink. WTF? I've no problem with going through the proper due diligence and interviewing a number of candidates but if this is the calibre of manager FSG are considering then we're in trouble. Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas would be a better choice than Martinez, at least he has some pedigree to speak of. Flavour of the month appointment, Hodgson-esque 100%. I know we're putting the cart before the horse here and he's miles away from getting the job. But here's the rub - IF (and it is a big "if" at the minute) he gets the job then he damned well better hit the fucking ground running or we'll be left with a similar scenario as the one with Hodgson. Fuck Fuck Fuck. This makes no sense to me at all.

Who is doing the interview on Liverpool's part? Ayre? Surely it would be the task of the DoF, no? Appointing a manager before finding the new DoF seems like a mistake.

One of my main concerns with hiring someone like Martinez is that without CL football a big name manager may be necessary in order to attract the higher quality players. That's before I even get into my concerns as to his ability to manage a club like Liverpool Football Club.

The real question is who is doing the interview?

FSG?  Ayres?  Purslow?

Do any of them even know what they should be asking for, in an interview?

Now that is an interesting question considering all the decisions that need to be taken around the club. Having said that, suppose it will be these elusive advisers, the owners keep going on about it. Let's hope they are good ones who know what makes a good manager.
