Was thrilled to meet Kenny a week after he returned to the club as caretaker manager. Think he's done a good job, with some missteps along the way - but it's been a thrill to see him in the dugout again. Best of luck, hope it's not long before he's back at Anfield.

Spot on. A part of the club has died today. A part we'll never, ever get back.. We aren't Liverpool Football Club anymore. Not sure what we are, but we're not the LFC that I knew and loved. Devastated..

Absolutely agree. Kenny was our link to the past, his sacking makes me feel completely detached from that tradition, its gone forever now. We are just a business to these owners.

Many, many thanks Kenny for everything you have done, such a dignified man, love you lots. YNWA

Spot on Hinesy.

Only three times in 20 years has this football club made my feel empty, numb and in tears.

One was Bobs death.

The other two?
Kennys resignation
And now today.

A year ago I felt like a little kid at Christmas with his return, I felt it was 16 years too bloody late, but once more Liverpool felt like Liverpool. My smile on reflected by his beaming grin. The king was home.

And now, by a bunch of distant cowboys I now feel empty, numb.

For me the Liverpool Way has just exhaled it's final breath.

And all because a couple of posers over Boston couldn't heed there own words about patience.

Thank you Kenny, you didn't have to but you did, crying shame we couldnt see that smile for a few more years.

Great post hinsey.
This was completely the wrong decision for numerous reasons, it makes me wonder what sort of tension there may have been between Kenny & the owners - why the fuck couldn't they allow him a transfer window to settle it all.

Unless their ambitions are as big as they articulated when they first arrived. Are they only going to attract a man with fantastic pedigree and European experience who can get us to make that "leap".

Their own reputation is on the line with us fans now, they need to demonstrate strategic leadership with ambition to match the size of the fucking gap in Stanley Park where a stadium is supposed to have been erected.

I never thought I'd see the day he'd come back to us (as manager), and to have it ended like this is just disgraceful.

I've no more words for this, I can only say "thank you" to Kenny for everything.

The new manager, whoever that may be, may come from God's (no that one) own ballbags. He many win the quadruple with us. But the club that I fell in love with died today.

Thanks Kenny, for being there, at our greatest hour of need. Managers come and go. Once a King, always a king. Thanks for the past sixteen months, loved your celebration which our generation had only seen on video. A part of Liverpool FC died today. Football is shit.

Goodbye Kenny, ultimately you were one of the last remaining of Paisley's and Shankly's proteges, who truly cared about Liverpool and got caught up in the midst of soulless corporate PR-driven soundbites. Thanks for everything you've given us. We're truly not worthy as a club to have a genuinely great human being like you lead us out to the sounds of YNWA every week. I shall miss your sharp sense of humor as you cut down Vinnie O'Connor and his Sky cronies to size. I shall miss seeing the pictures of you with a smile on your face as you rolled back the years while training with the lads. And most of all, I shall miss seeing Liverpool's greatest fan jumping up and down the touchline with unbridled joy whenever we score.

Thanks for everything Kenny. Long live the King. YNWA

heartbreaking. FSG should have given him one more season, i cant believe it, one step forward and two steps back. I really thought our club was different, that we respect and reward commitment and loyalty. But i guess it is all about the results. He should have gotten one more season but he didn't and that makes me sad.

For I find it hard to say goodbye.

For all the Kenny thread was full of his time is up and he should go, (where are you naysayers rejoicing now eh?) when the actual deed is done, 4,000 miles away near some baseball stadium in a country that doesn't even like football, never mind understand it, my heart sinks yet again.

FSG have now sacked everyone but the tea lady and she's been charged with a 3 year progression to making tea so fucking weak it makes milk look like David Dickinson's brow.

Once again Liverpool fans are smacked in the face for daring to believe that there was no concerns in substituting one set of American owners for another. John Henry appears to talk the talk. But with no stadium, DoF (if we need one) Chief Exec, no director of communications and so on, they look more like a business with no concept of direction whatsoever and certainly one of little understanding of LFC.

Perhaps, perhaps they have some great vision of bringing in an entire team to construct LFC in their own likeness. But when they care more for a game of big rounders than they do for Cup Finals and big matches, I wonder.

The thing is this: its not actually whether or not Kenny was the right man for the job, its the fact that it was Kenny Dalglish. I cannot think of a man more imbued with 'Liverpool-ness' than he. By sacking him in such a way, (fly him over, talk, fly him back, stay quiet then release the news on the day the England Squad are announced in a mealy mouthed pr exercise of shit) they are saying de facto to old arses and long time fans, this is the new world and the club you understood no longer exists.

Sure no-one has died, sure maybe there was an arguement for bringing in a new manager. But we no longer look like Liverpool Football Club, we look like Aston Villa, or fucking Newcastle without the higher table placing. A club that doesn't know how to do things the right way. A club that reacts not proacts. A club that, right now, has no vision, no statement of plan, no staff and little popularity among the fans.

In some ways I thought it dangerous and short termist to bring Kenny back. Bringing in Steve Clarke made me believe Kenny and the club did understand what was needed. But I suspect the owners also brought Kenny back as a popularity gaining trick. Well that's back fired on you big fucking time.

You mess with LFC fans at your peril. Its not his leaving but the manner of it that galls, saddens and despairs me. Small minded, fearful and modern day management style. Poor. Fucking. Show.

brilliant mate, just fucking brilliant, thank you

I'm not sure which scenario I find more soul destroying.  The fact that a club legend could be sacked by a group of suits in Boston after only one full season in the job and with a trophy in his (substantial) arse pocket.  Or that more people than I'm comfortable with, both on here and in real life, think it was the right thing to do.  That shit makes my head spin and wonder if my sentimental concepts of loyalty and continuity and patience are foolish and outdated.  :-\

I don't think they are and I don't think Kenny deserves what has happened today.  I genuinely fear for the club we are on the road to becoming, because it's a road filled with roundabouts spinning endlessly into mediocrity with no clear direction in mind.  Scary times.

YNWA Kenny.

I just can't believe the way they ended this, he gets summoned over to the US like a naughty school kid, with his bloody school report. Then we get the unending media crap, where he gets pulled apart by people who arn't fit to lace his boots, and the owners leave him hanging on a piece of wire, as people tear him apart. I'm sorry but that is bullshit, and a disgrace. In a way I'm pleased for Kenny that he is out of this, as he does not deserve the crap that has been thrown at him.

But right now I seriously fear for the future of the club, I don't trust the owners to make the right decision. They don't even seem that interested in us half the time. The ground is still up in the air, with no sign of ending in any certainty. Right now they have serious concerns to address, but do they even have a plan?

Great opening post Hinesy, totally sums up what I am feeling.

Best of luck Kenny, you will always have our respect, because you are one of us.

Dalglish said he is proud to have served such a great Club.
"It has been an honour and a privilege to have had the chance to come back to Liverpool Football Club as Manager. I greatly appreciate the work that Steve, Kevin, the players and all of the staff put in during my time and feel proud that we delivered the Club's first trophy in six years winning the Carling Cup and came close to a second trophy in the FA Cup Final. Of course I am disappointed with results in the league, but I would not have swapped the Carling Cup win for anything as I know how much it meant to our fans and the Club to be back winning trophies.
"Whilst I am obviously disappointed to be leaving the football club, I can say that the matter has been handled by the owners and all concerned in an honourable, respectful and dignified way and reflects on the quality of the people involved and their continued desire to move the football club forward in the same way as when they arrived here.
"I would like to thank all of the staff at the Club for their effort and loyalty. I said when first approached about coming back as Manager that I would always be of help if I can at any time and that offer remains the same.
"Finally, I want to put on record my heartfelt gratitude to Liverpool's fans, who have always given me and the Club their unwavering support. Without them neither the Club nor I would have achieved anything."

Cheers John.

Kenny is a legend if it was any other manager you would have all been calling for time months ago. I respect kenny and he will always be a legend, but that was a very very bad season. The implications on the club will be massive in terms of partnerships and new revenue for 2 more seasons now.

And what's happening at corporate level with heads rolling, shows if anything, how serious these people are in trying to make this club a success again, I respect them for that, things need changing there IMO, for lots of reasons.

Arguably the lowest point in our recent history.
Just left truly speechless from this whole affair we're in.
Can't honestly believe we've SACKED KENNY DALGLISH.

I'd take a trophy and two cup finals over yer top four every season, especially with that man in charge. It meant so much more.
