Have to say I'm quite taken aback by some of the posts in this thread and some 'fans' total lack of understanding as towards the core values that have always underpinned this great club.  I know that modern day football fans crave success but surely part of supporting a club is learning about it's history about the sound and honest foundations it was built on.  Legends like Shankly and Paisley, the bootroom, the mighty Spion Kop, European nights, songs chants and real real passion it's what makes this club great, it's what draws people to it.

Anyone who cannot see the hammer blow struck against all that is good about Liverpool FC in the termination of Kenny's appointment are totally at odds with what this great club is all about.

Yes, we all want to see Liverpool challenge for honours but not at the costs of selling our soul to satan.

No doubt some would happily follow the American model and transfer Liverpool Football Club to London where finances would be easier to come by if it meant that Liverpool PLC would be succesful.  Melodramatic, perhaps, but the soul is being ripped out of football and one of its last bastions, Liverpool FC.

I wish you all the very best Kenny, good health and happiness.
Long live the King!

Just a little something which made me smile

Kenny's wife Marina on twitter last night posted about how they were spending the evening - Out with friends and family! Feels like a wake but the corpse keeps chipping in!!!

Made me laugh and think that the bit of humour shows the family is taking it well and aren't too hurt by the events. Above all else his happiness is what's important upon leaving the club.
I remember I was in bed with Paul Bearer making proper passionate love to him, and then all of a sudden he was tossing me off. I woke up at around 3am thinking "what the fuck was that?" Only to find my left hand covered in you know what

All Kenny cares about are the fans, if we had a few more men like him in the game, modern football wouldn't be such a shambles.

Jesus, I almost can't type this because I can't see the keys through the tears. How much more of himself does Kenny have to give to LFC?
He never left anything behind him on the pitch. He never left anything behind as  the gaffer. He almost lost his sanity in the aftermath of Hillsborough taking on the grief of families and fans. I remember the day he signed, I remember his first goal, I remember his first stint as manager. I've watched the years and cares of life take it's toll on his face (pretty much in tandem with my own) and seen them wiped out in the simple joy of the redmen scoring. Look at his simple celebration... unchanged through all that time. I remember him walking out of the tunnel for the second time as manager and fearing my heart would burst from sheer joy.
But I hope to Christ that I forget as quickly as possible the heartbreak and grief and blind rage from the last 30 hours  that I haven't been able to come to any kind of terms with yet, and do as Kenny has asked and support the club and his successor as he will undoubtedly do himself.
As always in everything he has ever done for Liverpool he is a shining example to anyone who has anything to do with Liverpool.

I envy you. I envy you and others so much who have been fortunate enough to witness the glories that came with the King. I was elated to have him back as manager because felt like a return to the past. I wanted to experience the same glories as the generation of Liverpool fans before me and i really thought those days would return but it just wasn't to be. I'm grateful to have had him back at all and to be able to feel what it feels like to win a trophy with him at the helm and to sit there as he amused me by destroying those journalists. I went to my first Liverpool game with him in charge this season. I will always remember this season. I will always remember the season that saw the return of the King.

He epitomises greatness. We're so fortunate to have had him and to continue to have him dedicate himself to us. He's ours, nobody else's and for that we should be eternally grateful.

Thank you Kenny. Forever a KING.

Few people would decline millions of pounds in compensation that they were contractually entitled to receive, in order to put it towards the transfer budget of the club he just left.  That says it all about Kenny Dalglish, the man and his love for this club and all of us as supporters. The thing is... you just knew that that is what he would do, there wasn't even a doubt in my mind.  A genuine class act, we are incredibly fortunate to have the privilege of sitting before the King.

Thanks Kenny. Thanks for everything. I have not even set foot in england. I have not even set foot outside India. You cannot imagine how much you mean to me. When I learned about you and saw what you mean to the city of liverpool before you were appointed for the second time, I really connected to you.
You made me to look forward to everyday, every night, apart from my boring work. I see your first game, first home game after you touch the anfield sign, your montage video, your first interview in the second coming, and what not, whenever I am down, whenever we drew or lost last season, cos when I saw you, I knew for sure, it will just take a pre season to turn things around. I know for the very fact that YOU WERE HERE, right there. So, I was upset like the other people when things didn't go in the expected way. When my fellow reds here started losing faith and started seeing Champions league as their goal, I used to show them the 87-88 season of how football should be played and won. Now, they have won, I feel cheated. While people are talking up martinez and rafa and ABC, Kenny, I am angry on you for influencing my life this much. I don't feel like doing anything at work, stopped talking to people. Its worse than a breakup with your childhood girl.
I am going to miss you Kenny.
Its amazing how a man, millions of miles away can influence a guy, from a small part from the Indian Sub-continent.
I am going to miss your celebrations. I am pissed that my dreams of you delivering the league in a couple of years time, is taken away and murdered. I am angry that you will not be able to deliver the European cup which you should have when you were managing the first time.
I am going to miss your pressers.
I am going to miss you having a joke with our youngsters before they get inside the field.
I am going to miss your wit.
I am going to miss the players smile when they train.
I am going to miss seeing you kick the ball in the training.
I am going to miss the kop singing happy birthday for you.
I am going to miss the dalglish chant.

Long live King.

Anyway... what can I say Kenny?  Thank you for everything you've done for the club.  I'm glad that in my life I got to see you at the helm of Liverpool FC because I was just a baby the first time around.  I regret the way it has ended and I wish it lasted much longer, but I'll remember every moment for the rest of my life.  I was dreaming of being able to see you in person on the North American tour, but it looks like that won't be possible anymore.  Looks like I'll just have to make it over to Anfield some day and maybe there'll be a chance to thank you in person.

You'll never walk alone, King Kenny.

I read earlier in Q's post that Kenny has donated his contract severance to the transfer fund. That can't be right can it - when the ONLY  beneficiaries will be the fucking bastards that SACKED THE LEGEND?? There must be many many other causes - linked to the real Liverpool fans - that any money Kenny declines to receive could go to.

It's an extraordinarily generous thing for the unassuming and highly principled man that Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish truly is to do.

In the teeth of such shameful, barefaced back-stabbing disregard by his former employers for ALL that the man has done for the club and all that he is and yes, all that he will remain to the real terrace owners of Liverpool Football Club -  he has shown how the possessors of real class behave.
The PLC has outrageously banished a legend but KMD is locked into the hearts of the TRUE followers of Liverpool Football Club - the old-style FANS - and they will NEVER forget.

Final Score: KMD 5 FSG 0.

There is nothing wrong with striving to win, so long as you don't set the prize above the game. There can be no dishonour in defeat. What matters above all is that the team plays in the right spirit, with the utmost skill, courage, fair play and no favour, and the result accepted without bitterness or conceit. Great post Johnno, shame some of our own supposed "supporters" don't get it like you do mate. I'm not surprised though; you have an understanding and appreciation of what the game should stand for.

Kenny is and will always be a legend, ALWAYS.....remembered and sung about long after the yanks have cashed in and moved.

Kenny, Boss, you didn't deserve the shite you got from the fanboys and gutter press reporters trying to score points. You put the club before you and your family and the corporate vultures fucked you. Go and enjoy the golf and having time with the grandkids, you have done more than anyone to bring the glory to this club, the finest player we have ever had and you can be proud of what you achieved as a manager, player and a person. You are better out and away from the shitehawks that now run the club and the game.

You won one (almost 2) then got sacked, scandalousness.

Thanks Kenny, once again. What a player, what a manager, what a man.
If we get Suarez I'll show my arse in front of a packed Kop.

The thing is this: its not actually whether or not Kenny was the right man for the job, its the fact that it was Kenny Dalglish. I cannot think of a man more imbued with 'Liverpool-ness' than he. By sacking him in such a way, (fly him over, talk, fly him back, stay quiet then release the news on the day the England Squad are announced in a mealy mouthed pr exercise of shit) they are saying de facto to old arses and long time fans, this is the new world and the club you understood no longer exists.

Spot on. I'm absolutely gutted.
I don't usually post here, just come for the commentary and more than clever banter, but this slap in the face has left me stunned.  :-\

Kenny, I'm sure you know how much you mean to us, but we're here to let you know again. We're so grateful for the pride and spirit that only you were able to bring back to the club. Truly a class act, and a legend beyond compare.
YNWA.

Kenny Dalglish was sacked from Liverpool Football Club after stabilising a failing club, winning one and being runner up in a second of the only 3 trophies he went in for. He was sacked by foreign owners who admit they know nothing about football because what he did will fail to make enough money for their "business model".

That tells you everything you need to know about football and how it has changed for the worse since Kenny's playing days.

And if it didn't, just to rub a bit of salt in the wound, Arab-oilman-bankrolled Manchester City won the league and Russian-gangster-bankrolled Chelsea won the European Cup this season.

A little part of me died this last week.

Goodbye King Kenny. We will never see your like again, so please don't be a stranger.

And then we'll get 4th as well and everyone in the whole world can do one.
