I tend to think Rafa's silence speaks volumes. That if he hadn't already been approached then he might have thrown his hat into the ring by now, and publicly - TV or radio interviews, leaks in the press from friends and allies, nudging FSG. He hasn't.
I also think that it would be risky for FSG not to consider him. Even if they don't start out wanting him, they could at least come to the fans later with clean hands and say, we looked at him, but other candidates appealed more.
I think he's in the mix.
I agree. Rafa is certainly no shrinking violet when it comes to using the media, we all know he's been waiting for an opportunity. He certainly wouldn't be sitting on his hands waiting for a phone call if there had been no contact - we'd have heard something from him in one form or another by now.
The 'fact' that they are looking at 12 candidates, surely there is room for Rafa on a list that long - even as a long shot in FSG's eyes.
If Rafa gets an interview, I think he's most of the way there. He's had time to rest, will have a plan, knows the club, the players, the academy, the fans, and has a great CV. I'm feeling a lot more optimistic than two days ago about Rafa's chances.
I'm pleasantly suprised also by the poll on .tv that almost 50% of fans would see him as their 1st choice also...
