I agree completely about the boot room and the advantages it created, but conversely Martinez has been a manager in this country for 5 years now; is that not enough to "learn the trade?" Nobody we hire is going to have been schooled in the boot room, so we shouldn't be looking for that. We should simply be looking to hire the best man for the job. I feel like I'm advocating the hiring of Martinez when, in fact, I'm not. I just simply think too many people are writing it off for very poor reasons (some have legitimate worries).
I'd echo this stance. Martinez is about fifth or sixth on my list, but there's a strange sort of ignorance floating around when it comes to what he's achieved. It's as if because the media like him, he must immediately be torn down and insulted. He's a good guy and a good manager. I'd talk to him, but only as part of a bigger picture. It's like those who rate O'Neill or Owen Coyle. Myth.
“Seeing these smiling faces is the greatest pleasure. They have been magnificent all season. They have been our 12th man. I have always said our fans are the best in England. Now I know they are the best in Europe too.” Rafa Benitez

Loew would love him

No chance (unless we want to wait until July to have a man on the job). And I don't think he'd take it anyway.

Starting to sound like Rafa.

Maybe, but they haven't made their decision yet, they've got interviews to do for other candidates.

Surely what we are forgetting is that we at Liverpool have something that no other club has and would be attractive to ANY manager in the world. Surely if Pep was offered weekly favours from John Henry's missus we could entice him.

Why is does everyone keep talking about Jen Chang in the manager's thread?

Having said that, Margaret from Knotty Ash is taking over as cleaning supervisor at Anfield.

I'll bet no one saw that one coming ;)

I'm not just worried about whos going to manage us, I'm worried that half the players will want out!

If its Martinez we most likely will be saying good buy to Suarez, Skrtel, Agger, [Dear bellend, please insert name of Craig Bellamy here.] maybe lucas.

CAN FSG NOT SEE WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN? I would be amazed if they stayed.

I actually think Rodolfo Borrell would make an interesting, completely left-field choice as new manager. Guardiola-esque.

I actually said that earlier.  People call it a risk, much less of a risk than Martinez, Rodgers or even Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas in my opinion.

The problem is not the media Fats it's the obsession on here with Benitez. Been on some other good Red sites and there is reasoned argument and discussion. On here it's fanatical obsession to the point that if someone gets the job who's name is not Rafa Benitez he's going to be hated before the team even kick a ball. It's scary and devisive and it makes me yearn for the days before the Internet.

It's nothing to do with the internet. I know plenty of Reds that go to the match (Including me) that want him back here.
Football has reached the ninth gate of farce and pathetic, unbelievable trite nonsense. It's supposed to be a game and it's turned into pantomime, hype, quilts and bellends.
