Has anyone like Benitez, Klopp or Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas been reported for interview yet?

Just Martinez and Rodgers. No word on Klopp so far as I know. Word on Benitez is not happening. Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas has been a mess of conflicting rumours.

Martinez introduced real football to Swansea.  He's a very good choice, but I worry about his ability to deal with the senior players.

You mean Rodgers...

or Wigan.

Although Rodgers makes more sense.

Not impressed with Martinez, but you know what, if he is appointed, he will have my full support. The last thing the players, manager and the team (already short on confidence due to a poor season and a terrible second part of the sason) need are fans sulking, thinking wish you were Rafa, you're no good, not LFC material etc. Who knows, maybe he will be good, but if we do not support him then the players will look at him as a joke too and not pay attention.

Rossi, let me ask you. Is hodgson a good manager? Is Steve Coppell? Phil brown? Sam allardyce?

all these managers at one time were flavour of the month, at one time had one outstanding one off season. All are not required standard.

I couldn't give a toss that Rogers had an ok season, or that Martinez pulled his garbage side out of relegation. They are not pre requisites for a club of our history and stature.

As I said employ anyone other than someone worthy of the sacking of a legend and im done with this supposed Liverpool football club. Smith would shudder.

Martinez is his own man mate. Not some sort of clone of the managers you've just mentioned and he's hardly 'flavour of the month' either. He's performed admirably well at a club of a small stature with a tiny budget for three years now. In my opinion he is a very good young manager who likes his teams to play the right way, which is a lot more then I can say for those managers who you have just mentioned. All he lacks is experience and that is the only sticking point for me. It would be a massive risk, but one that could pay off if he was given enough time and the right backing.

If and its a big IF he did get the job he would start with a blank sheet  for me and would get my full backing. I  also would hope you would come to your senses and give him your full backing too mate, because the club needs you more then ever at times like this.

Martinez or Benitez are not in the frame.

ha ha.
"My coach told me to warm up just before the break. He told me I was going to take care of Kaka. I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Im really excited to see what Martinez can bring to the forefront.

We are not a big club and need to stop seeing ourselves as one. With a team mentality, few astute signings and constantly improving with each game (something which did not happen for Dalglish) we could be back on our perch.

Welcome to Liverpool Bobby  :wave

PS Can we have a proper DOF because signing players Bobby really needs to work on.

How does it really help?Say Txiki with Martinez? The brains behind the actions on the pitch would still be Martinez. We could get the best young players and brilliant deals, but then would the manager have the calibre to manage them?

It helps because the question then becomes purely how good is he as a coach, not how good is he as a deal maker / name attractor / scout / pr front man etc
I can't comment on how good Martinez is - haven't seen enough of his teams play or heard enough about his level of ability/knowledge but I can completely see the logic in splitting the managers role into coach and director of football (there are very few Rafas in the world who can do both) and then trying to find the best young coaching mind to look after the team (whoever that is)

Would you be fucked off if it was coupled with a top flight director of football because I think that's their plan

I'd be less fucked off, but still a bit fucked off. The point is we can do far better than Martinez. If there weren't many other options out there, then I'd consider it, but there's two very good options (at least) who are currently unemployed.

Not panicking yet as even these lot will have the foresight to interview more than one candidate, unlike the FA.

What does scare the shit out of me is who's doing the interviewing?

All well and good having a DOF model to implement football realted decisions, but when you haven't got a DOF you're rather screwed.

Well they should. When has appointing a universally unpoplular choice ever turned out great?

Like Alan Pardew? The man who was universally hated and considered a part of the 'Cockney mafia' at Newcastle before guiding his team to fifth in the league and Euro football after a credible challenge for CL, way ahead of us in terms of points , having spent peanuts in comparison? Turned out pretty bad didnt it?

Or Conte who the Juve fans were completely against in the beginning?

Isn't that moneyball.

If they want a manager who buys players cheap and sells most of them on at a profit Rafa is their man.
They want a manager who can work with a DoF

now is the perfect time to manage liverpool imo

expectations have been lowered for next season

and we had such a poor record in the transfer market last season
Seriously? Weren't expectations low last season? If you mean by low as in 4th spot, then any manager coming in knows straight away that if he doesn't get forth or doesn't look to be getting forth by christmas is getting jinged out the door. They already set the president when they fucked a legend off from this club in his first season. No one will be safe.
