To be honest, I've heard from a good source that certain senior players had a huge bust up with Kenny. Not who you'd think.
This happens and will have nothing to do with the decision.

Do people really not get the expectations thing yet? Really? After watching Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam struggle at Liverpool, after looking so much better at smaller clubs?

It's a drastic difference being able to scrape a few results together at Wigan, and being EXPECTED to win every single match at Liverpool. Once the pressure starts, it grows until it becomes unbearable dissent, and it drags everybody down with it.

Buy from midtable = turn into midtable.

I get all that. My opinion my be in the minority, but I have liked Martinez for years and so it's not a knee jerk thing.
I also like Alan Pardew as a manager, but let's not go there.

THIS - Someone on here a while ago said - "Theres no room for sentiment in Football these days".  Its so true.. Sad  but very true.

Maybe there's no room sentiment, but there's still room for decency, and FSG have none of it.

Semi-plausible options, that I would like at the club, in order:

Rafa
Bielsa
Blanc
O'Neill (at an extreme push)

plus would fancy Pellegrini, Rijkaard (ONLY with txiki), and Klopp

Im as sad as many on here but, some of you are right fuckin drama queens. Talking about walking away if Martinez is given the job. Honestly man up FFS!!!  :no :no :no

This is also true.
Some of the stuff is embarrassing.
Like a competition to see who can be the most gutted.

Any talk of a successor is inappropriate IMO.
In time it will have to be addressed unfortunately.
For now it's time to say thanks and best of luck to a good man... The like of which we might not see for a long time

Only Way Martinez could work is if Benitez is put in as DOF and told not to meddle, that is until the first back to back losses and the crowd WILL TURN - Who ever comes in now will have a big pair of Puma Dalglish Gold's to fill and will be looking over their shoulder

Martinez would have made sense after we stabbed Rafa in the back but not now, sack the king for not getting top 4 and employ someone who's team turns it on once relegation is close. Sorry but the only person who makes sense to me is Rafa give him money, backing and 3 years before anyone considers sacking him. We've lost a club legend and his assistant who was responsible for our defense, have no DOF and no PR department.

Just found out in work and my heart sank. One question where is the club going? Fair enough they have there reasons but i'm getting worried now with all the departures. Do FSG have what it takes in footballing terms to get us back on track? Next managerial appoinment is massive now and will be very telling for me gutted for kenny.

I'm fuming about this. The players have let Kenny down big style but as per usual the manager takes the hit.

We played some good football this year and he brought home a trophy (nearly two). He deserved at minimum another season to build on it, the gap is massive and it would take a miricle to close it in one full season. Instead we are back to square one and another year will go by as we wait for the new man to settle in and put his stamp on the team.

I hope to god we get Rafa, otherwise i fear for us. Hes the only top top coach we could realistically get.

Feel numb at the minute.

I fliipped and flopped on whether I thought Dalglish was the man for the job but having it actually happen is a bit mad.

I think it'll be a few years before we'll be able to say this is a calculated and ruthless decision or whether this is a panic move from FSG.

They've certainly been decisive.

No, John. Your job was to identify a successor before you sacked a living legend. If you're still at the identification stage we are fucked. Royally.

Having read their release that was my initial reaction, no replacement lined up, still it's the right decision to sack Kenny. Here's a fucking holy thought John, what if there is nobody available who could come in and do a better job, we'd be up shit creek then without a paddle. Sacked half the backroom with no lined up replacements, no vision or conviction in vision, simply 'that wasn't good enough, you gotta go'

Fuming doesn't describe how i'm feeling now, i'm just glad it's wednesday and it's boxing night, god help the other fucker sparring tonight.

yes kenny has been sacked but if it had been anyone else we would have been clamouring for there dismissal, kenny is and always will be a legend at this club,

its what fsg/liverpool do next that matters most
It's true, we would have been.

The fact it's kenny doesn't mean they have ruined the ethos of the club.....

It would be the same for anyone.

For me though, kenny deserved more time for everything he has given.

Absolutely shocked by this. I really thought he'd get another year. I understand why it happened, but it still hurts like hell.

Kenny, you are and forever will be the King. You've given more to this football club than any one man should ever be asked to give. Thank you for everything you've done and the dignity with which you've always carried yourself. I've never been more proud of any one member of this football club and that hardly changes today. YNWA.

FSG wanted to change. They wanted to do the decent thing keep him at the club and offered him a different role but KENNY REFUSED. He made it manager or nothing and they made a decision.

I feel sick, a sort of grief. We've lost someone who was the embodiment of the club, or at least what the club used to be. Its hard to see that it was a good decision. There is no DoF, no communication director, no legal team, and rumour of no MD. An now no manager and no assistant manager.

FSG have a massive decision now. Its a fucking maelstrom at the minute. We need structure, a strong visionary DoF, a manager that is tactically advanced.

Oh and we need a fucking decision on the stadium.

I do hope they hurry up and start employing people. We have no Manager, Assistant, DoF no PR. It's going to be a big summer and I would expect another season similar to this as we can't expect to all of a sudden win the league after making this many changes.

Shown he has a brilliant footballing brain, not only as manager but also on various media appearences. Has shown he can build and stabalise a club in a season or two - twice, and not shifted clubs here and there. Has a very good backroom staff and has shown he can find raw talent and bring them through. Has shown dignity in everything he does, especially in his managerial choices - eg, not leaving Wigan for Villa and not leaving Cardiff until it was absolutely the necessary and correct decision. Amongst a whole host of other thing's about him as a person and how everything has been handled in his five years on this side of the game.

Just an honest question,do you see him standing up to old whisky nose?

Dear Mr J.W.Henry

I am gutted and frankly furious that you have sacked Kenny Dalglish, a Liverpool legend from the managers post.

The only way in my eyes that you can even begin to atone for this is to appoint Rafael Benitez as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely

No need to sign it. Even a clueless idiot like Henry will know it came from RAWK.

Shocked and dissapointed, but at the same time optimistic for the future.

Perhaps reshaping the club from top to bottom is just what we need. We're as far away as we have ever been from the Premier League title, after all.

Kenny offered stability and still remains a legend, I don't think he ever was a long-term solution. I'm just glad he's gone with his head held high. Had he stayed a third season and they finished as dissapointingly as the first two then things may have got a bit difficult.

What was the alternative once they lost faith in Kenny though? Let him squirm for a few weeks while they look for a replacement and then let him go? Then they would have been slated for keeping Kenny hanging.

Martinez would be a dreadful appointment. Absolutely catastrophic. Would be 3 bad choices in a row.

Now i'm not advocating Martinez being our next manager but, how the hell do you know it would be catastrophic? You got a crystal ball or something? For what its worth I think his footballing philosophy is the correct way to play. Its just that he lacks experience but, so did Klopp, Guardiola and Conte and they didn't do too badly did they?
