Okay, first of all Yes I have said before I did not think Dalglish was the one to get Liverpool back into the top 4 and I am not going to hide or shy away from what I said.

I will however say that I am disappointed that he was not given enough of an opportunity to prove me wrong, lord knows he deserves it.

There was a time I was obsessed with the sport to the point an ex girlfriend considered leaving me as I went to football over seeing her! Today a group of friends asked me what I thought of the England Euro 2012 squad and I just shrugged.

Maybe FSG are hoping this will drive away the "fans" and bring in more middle class supporters to fill their exec boxes.

What have the likes of Martinez and Rodgers done in their careers to deserve to take Kenny Dalglish's seat? LFC aren't your fucking stepping stone, you need to prove yourself at the top first.

I really hope there's something of a positive conclusion to all this, that the role is filled by someone who's earned it, and that the King can return to take a role at the club once the dust has settled, and pride and other emotions are not so raw.

You sure as hell better know what you're doing here, FSG, and it better be pretty damn good to make up for all this.

What a very sad day this. The players should take a real good look at themselves. Let a very good man down. A man who put his entire trust in them. Hope some of them are shipped out asap to be honest.

Still trust FSG. Let's not pretend they are the new H&G. They've put alot of their own money into the club and they aren't asset stripping or saddling it with debt.

But that same team are now in the CL Final, they put in a shift for Di Matteo?

hardly a shift getting 9 behind the ball.

although they do seemed to have prefered his methods.

Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas will do well where he can change a squad to his liking.

Sad to see these events unfolding - I think we all knew this could happen as 2012 has been dreadful league wise. I think many people feared this could be the end result of Kenny coming back and it must have been an incredibly difficult decision by FSG. The abuse they are getting on here is laughable - many might not agree with the decision but a decision had to be made and they are showing that they will do whatever it takes (in their opinion) to put the club back in the business of competing on all fronts. Including making hard and unpopular decisions.

The new man has to be Rafa. Knows the club, would hit the ground running, unfinished business, available without compensation etc, amazing European pedigree and a Liverpool man through and through.

Feel bad for Kenny and wish him the best, he will always be a LEGEND.

In the end there were lots of reasons to keep him and lots of reasons to fire him.

The next step is more important though we need to bring in the new CEO or DoF who can bring in the manager they want and get back to developing the squad. Seeing as FSG have decided to sack Kenny i presume there will be a very reasonable amount of money available.

Don't put Martinez in the same bracket as the other two, it shows your naievity.

I agree those two finished much higher than Martinez with fewer resources, big chasm in ability.

Long live King Kenny!

Hope some of the players have a long look at themselves and offer to be shipped out asap.

Why?

Awwh, please.  Please dont do this.  This is a shitty day for this club and anyone who thinks that a Manager who has just managed to keep a club out of relegation somehow comes a good man for us is just stupid.

It wasn't that long ago that people were saying we should appoint Owen Coyle or Ian Holloway as contenders, now we are saying martinez is flavour of the month?

What exactly has he achieved in his managerial career to make him the right man to get LFC back up to the top 4 and winning in Europe??

Can I just say...I don't think FSG would want rafa. They brought Kenny back, in there eyes he didn't do enough, would they feel like bringing another manager back? They might think they tried that nd it didn't work. I just hope its not Martinez or Rodgers, seriously.

they need to appoint someone pretty quick or the speculation will get worse, rafa isnt in a job and could start tomorrow,al the others will need negotiations with clubs etc, then we'd be in a mad rush to sign players.  rafa here and people like muniain etc would come, or be more inclined to come.

Agree.  Let's see what happens this summer with getting a new managerial structure in place (manager, DOF, CEO, etc.) and investment in players.  Call me an optimist, but I have no doubt that whoever we appoint as manager will have plenty of transfer funds to work with.  Maybe not as much as last summer, but enough.

How can you compare the two?

You think this is good for our long term future? Quick death at hands of H&G or long slow death at FSG.

Sacking just about everyone, while showing very little evidence of their good judgement both in appointing Ayre as MD and Commolli as DoF, doesn't fill me with confidence that they are going to make good, new appointments.

They have 5+ roles to fill now, not just DoF.

Sub-par manager? That's absolutely baseless.
He's finished 16th, 16th and 15th in 3 seasons at Wigan, not much improvement there.

Kenny guided Pool out of their worst period in my lifetime, won us our first silverware in more than half a decade, and always backed his men to the hilt while doing so. That's what I'll take from the King's second stint as LFC's boss.

If his successor is eventually remembered with even a fraction the fondness of KK, he'll have done a remarkable job.

Look, the thing with Martinez is that last time we brought in flavour of the month manager, look how that turned out. Also, what was going on at Wigan for the first half of the season? Worse football in the Premier League I have not seen. Sure he pulled it back, but what was happening back then? He is not the man for a club that has any expectations, let alone of the might of Liverpool.
"When you play Stoke you always hope for a strong ref, someone who will try and clamp down on the persistent fouling and allow the better players on the pitch to actually play some footy.  We got Kevin Friend, an official so inept, I am surprised he managed to turn up at the right ground."

what are you on about?

do you think the next manager is going to bring instant success?

that is my point
Your point is the managers should always be given more time. My question is that Hodgson could have a case as well.(Although I myself wanted Hodgson out, but the point  is giving time to all managers)
Your point is that Kenny could have turned it around. My question is how and at what cost? At what guarantee?

Sacking a manager is not the best thing but it sends a clear cut message to everybody on what is acceptable at the club. We sent out a positive message that certainly finishing 8th is never going to acceptable at Liverpool.

I know we're all annoyed at FSG, and rightly so for how they've handled this.
However, as time goes by, I'm feeling my ire directed elsewhere...

The players.

Let's face it; Kenny was sacked due to poor league form. We all know this.
Players that he put his faith in time after time continually let him down with an unwillingness to take the game by the scruff of the neck and show some fucking passion for once.

I'm not going to reel off a list of names, but if those players are here next season, they better prove they deserve to be wearing red.

I haven't needed to visit Anfield (though I would love to) to understand what Kenny Dalglish means to this club. And you have no idea what Kenny means to me.

Absolute respect for Kenny, but I think this is the right decision.

Say A. N. Manager had just overseen the season we had just had, this decision would be a no-brainer.

Yes, there are mitigating factors; but for me, we need a long term plan now - and I just don't think we were at the start of one at the moment.

Tactically we've been hit and miss this season, personnel-wise we've been questionable and you'd have to say that KD would motivate more than perhaps anything else - but the amount of gutless performances we've had this season suggests that the players settled in to "end of season syndrome" way too easily.

I hate to say it: but I think today had to happen, I really do.

I'd like Rafa Benitez back, to be honest. I think his transfer targets would be smarter and more likely to be a success and before the cancers started chipping away at his side, we were damned close to winning the league.

The thing is, we can still attract great promising players. And what puts us ahead of the likes of Newcastle etc is that once we have the players and we become more successful, we can actually hold on to them.
