What if he has gone of his own accord? He looked so tired these past few weeks...

Has for a while now . Looked like a tormented soul . At least for the sake of his health he can step away from all the bullshit.

So 24 hours ago Paul comes out with:

....and now he's resigned?

Not buying that.

No chance he's resigned mate. He made his feelings clear he would not resign.

We don't need to wait on an update from the site. The facts are he got the sack. No matter what PR spin is added to the .tv article. They can dress it up however, but Kenny's not Comolli or someone who is happy to accept a handshake and thanks for all your hard work.

Paul Dalglish

"The last thing my dad wants is to leave at this stage. More than anything he wants a chance to consolidate and better upon what has gone on this season. He has a long-term plan, and in my opinion, it would be incredibly short sighted - and also extremely telling - if he didn't get a chance to execute it. I'm confident he will get that chance but it's not down to us."

Kelly Dalglish

Devastated for Dad but incredibly proud of the job he's done

Those sayign Rafa, despite the fucking lack of respect to be calling for anyone right now other than the heads of Werner and Henry, it will not be Rafa in a million years. A guy with strong fan connections who is associated with Liverpool's history who is extremly strong willed. Fails the FSG test in every way.
They will want their own man. Young, modern thinking, who will not upset the media or have the authority to challenge whoever they bring in as DoF. Add to that their utter lack of knowledge about the game and they will go for flavour of the month ala Martinez.
It is going to be a clusterfuck. But hey eventually we may get to the point where we can challenge for 4th place, in 4 or 5 years time, having replaced our young manager with an overpaid Capello type.

As a younger red, proud to have seen him manage the club. Wish it had been for longer.

No Manager.

No Director of Football.

No CEO.

No Communications Director.

Shit. Hadn't thought of that.

That's gonna be some job, following the king! Unless it's someone with goodwill with us all, ie Rafa, it's almost a thankless task :-(

So sad it came to this

So many people saying that this is the death of the club, football, we're a joke, etc.

I can't say I'm delighted nor particularly unhappy with this news. But we have to see what happens now. The club is always bigger than an individual.

Get behind the next manager, for christ sake, or we'll be forever stuck in this limbo.

YNWA Kenny
I've always supported the club not the individual. I'd like to see the club back where I most fondly remember it, at the top. That means there's no place for Carragher or anyone else who is past their sell by date.

Well, it was pretty much expected. We had the worst PL season.

Had it been another manager, probably he would have gone much earlier.

Kenny like Comolli had accountable to maintain and therefore this decision had to be done.

Gutted, as much as you can see why he's been sacked, I still think with more time and better signings that Dalglish could've worked. A bold move from the owners and I hope they've already got the next manager sorted or have a very good shortlist ready.

At the end of the day are you really that suprised? The americans don't feel the history like the rest of us as they havent lived it. They listened to us when they brought him in. They backed him with a massive amount of funds. They expected to see at least some progress after that backing. We have spent heavy on average players and gone backwards. Many saw this coming a mile off after Comolli's booting. At least they are acting rather than sitting on their hands like the blackburn management. They better have a good bloody plan to back it up though.

We all know we had a shit season but Kenny was the last vestige of The Liverpool Way at our organization. I was sure I wanted him to stay. Some of his signings were bad and our league performance was bad but after a long period of turmoil, having him in the center of the whirlwind was a semblance of stability. FSG have been very good owners so far -- I don't expect them to be doing this without any planning, but they better do something special or their reputation among the fans is going to take a MASSIVE hit. Will it be Rafa? I would welcome the man back with open arms.

Exactly, one goes another one comes in.

This was always going to be the problem in having Kenny as a manager, we risked too much of a blind faith as seen with those respnses.

I saw it coming, but fuck it's still hard to take.

I just hope it's his decision and not theirs.
And I don't mean the window dressing they might make of it, I hope he genuinely made the decision....and has a part to play in nominating his successor.

sad state of football when ye can't give ye biggest legend longer than a season!

FSG best have a vision otherwise i really am pessimistic

i'm trying to not be but if they bring in someone like martinez or someone else who hasn't managed at a top club then i'm really doubtful we'll finish higher than this season...

To repeat VdM 'do they have the moral authority' to do this to Kenny? Leaving the club completely means a rather big disagreement.
In Holland, they don't say they are developing players - they say they are developing future coaches.

Why do people keep saying The Liverpool Way is dead?

It's been dead since 1985, give or take.
I've always supported the club not the individual. I'd like to see the club back where I most fondly remember it, at the top. That means there's no place for Carragher or anyone else who is past their sell by date.

All I can say is the owners better have a damn good explanation and a damn good plan or they run a serious risk of being branded the new Hicks & Gillet.

They need to move quickly if they want to actually keep the supporters on side, dangerous game.

We have moved from a club to a business.
The heart of the club has now be torn away and all that's left is money counters and strategists.

Haven't been the match in years because of horrendous ticket prices, shite, corporate atmospheres and being an expat. Football can fuck off. My attachment to LFC is in my core, so I don't know if I can stay away, maybe if Rafa comes I might get over it or something like that..

Couldnt give a shite if anyone thinks some are overreacting but I'm absolutely gutted.

They should have thought this through when they handed him a 3yr contract last season.

I know they didnt expect the season we had but with so many new signings a bad season was always possible.

I felt that when handing him the contract they did we would at least see Kenny here for 2 seasons, regardless of how this one went, to give him a chance to properly get things up and running.

Yes, we shouldnt have finished 8th, but there were a lot of good signs this season for me and I just feel this is very very harsh.

honestly feels like a huge part of this club has been ripped apart.

Really wanted him to have another year to put it right, but in my heart i know it wasnt good enough so not entirely surprised

Really want Rafa back now, for all his minor faults you can get frustrated about at least you know what get when the players go out on the pitch

Shocked that he's gone so quickly. I did think there was a possibility that he would go upstairs in the summer but I certainly didn't expect him to be completely gone. Whomever is hired next had better be good and I don't mean someone like Roberto Martinez either.

"There used to be a football club there"

No one is bigger than the club and that applies to the owners...they know fuck all about football.

If Kennys not good enough for them, then neither am I....When every manager since Shanks has left Ive gone on with the Club.....today for the first time in my 51 years I think maybe its time to get off

A decison not founded in football but greed for the riches football can provide.

2 managers in 2 years! this is a disgrace we are like the new chelsea without the money

4 managers in 2 years.

Rafa, Hodgson, Dalglish, new manager.
