I think there is a long list of players that fuful what we are looking for but Lars would be one of the better options. Javi Garcia, Javi Martinez, Classie, L.Bender, Veloso, Soriano, Cigarini, M'Vila, Capoue....the list goes on. It really comes down to who we can afford and there availability. I think we'd struggle to get Lars Bender

And he's very lucky to be in charge of such a big club given his limited expereince.  You think he'll happy give up his best player cheaply out of loyalty?

I wouldn't want him to it potential could mess up his entire managing career.

Wouldn't sit on the bench at Liverpool  category,

especially after impressing at respective clubs, de jong would be one of first names on teamsheet at almost all other Premiership clubs.
Would love Banega, have done since we followed him under Rafa, but I think that ship's sailed.
Martinez is City's top target I believe?
I'd be chasing Claise, not quite at Lucas' level, but a very able stand in, and a good enough passer of the ball to look comfortable alongside him, and the bonus is that from what I've seen, I wouldn't bet against him reaching the Alonso, Lucas, Gerrard level. He's gonna be a 30+M pound player in next few years.
If they dont want to sit on the bench, they can start, that's how good they are.;)
As I said, they can replace Lucas or play alongside,in which case Gerrard can push up and Siggy will be on the bench.
What is the United line-up?
Webb, Riley, Wiley, Clattenburg, Dean, Dowd, Atkinson, Friend, Mason, Halsey and Probert

Diego Perotti anyone? His stock is probably low right now.

I think he's injured with a hernia and is due back in September. Could be a risky move.  My earlier post has a link with a list of players whose contracts end in 2013. Some good players on that list

Wouldn't be a bad buy at 5m and I imagine given he's got a long contract with Montpellier his wages wouldn't be too rediculous. Don't know much about him though, saw he was 28 and has apparently had a good season. An attacking LB would compliment Enrique which I'd be happy enough with as long as we look after Robinson with a loan or something.

Enrique's main weakness is his decision making and his over-confidence with the ball, under BR I think he will thrive, Insua was great going forward but never inspired confidence in his defending, his lack of speed on the turn was a big weakness in the premier league where so much emphasis is on teams attacking the full-backs

I'd rather that 5M be put towards a bigger marquee signing. At 28 we would probably get 2 seasons at best out of him, not taking into account a possible 'settling in' period. Hopefully over the next 12-18 months Robinson can develop and push into the first team squad on a more regular basis.

21, Italian international currently at the Euro's. Did better at Roma than Bojan last season. Speaks English, knows Rodgers, knows the system, knows the English game. As backup, he's probably a much safer bet than some 21 y/o talent from Holland or France.

Reports in Italy have claimed that Chelsea had launched a £20million move for Jovetic, who bagged 14 goals for the Tuscan giants last term.

But their sporting director Daniele Prade has strongly denied any such offer has been made.

"Absolutely not, it's not true," Prade told Radio 1.

"We do not know anything about an offer from Chelsea or any other team, Italian or otherwise.

"We are waiting for the lad to return on July 1 and we will see what he has to say to us. But the rest is just gossip."

Jovetic has refused to comment on his immediate future in recent weeks when quizzed about the situation.

Set piece specialist as well, though so was Suarez but his brilliant freekicks soon disappeared when Gerrard returned.

Gerrard's a better freekick taker though. Much rather Luis poaching also as he's got great reflexes and is quicker than Stevie.

Disagree, when Suarez first joined he was taking every freekick around the box, he may not have scored but he smacked the bar and post a few times and if he didn't make the keeper save it(as he did for Kuyt's hat trick goal against the mancs ), he was always very close. He doesn't seem to get a look in anymore.

Never seen Borini play, anyone know how clinical he is in front of goal? He's a quick poacher type, right?

And if the Modric to Madrid stuff is true, surely we should be looking to snatch Nuri Sahin? Top, top player, having someone like him beside Lucas would be like having the Xabi-Mascher combination back.

His future needs to be decided in the next few days between Parma & Roma.

Quote
Parma risk going to a blind auction for both Sebastian Giovinco and Fabio Borini, as they are yet to reach an agreement with Roma.

Players who are co-owned between two clubs must learn their fate before June 22 or go to a blind auction, which is where both sides place a bid in a sealed envelope and the highest offer wins total control of the contract.

Borini was signed by Parma as a free agent in the summer when his contract with Chelsea expired and immediately sold half his ownership to Roma.

It is widely reported that the two clubs are struggling to reach an agreement over his future, as Roma do not want to pay the €7m Parma are asking for.

Chelsea has Hulk as their first option with Jovetic as a backupchoice that's why there havn't bid yet. Jovetic is a great player already and is still developing. We've scouted him before and with us bringing in Man C scout that has good knowledge of the italian market we'll soon se if he's on our radar. The same goes for Borini who's a great prospect.

I don't think Borini would cost that much to be honest. It's either you get him now or watch him blow in a couple of years and then you're likely to see his price be £20m+. We could do with a predatar around the box and he's a natural in my opinion.

Not at all as Parma are unlikely to bid close to that figure either, the figure is for half the player.

I'd be happy with Borini, but he alone won't be enough. Would definitely need an extra striker - be it someone who can play wide forward like Jovetic or a guy like De Jong. Need four quality strikers next season - Suarez, Carroll, and two others.

If we're only playing 1 up front then why do we need 4 strikers in the squad? Surely Carroll, Suarez and another is enough. Then of course there's Bellamy at a push.

I wonder if we can make a deal with Lazio to buy him for 15m euros. That wouldn't be that bad a business for a 21 y/o Italian international.
