Who is to say any of the players in Euro 2012 would reject any moves pre-tournament anyway? I mean if all a guy like Afflelay has to do is a couple of stepovers in the 1st half of the 1st group game to raise his transfer fee by 10m, why the hell would he agree to anything early? It's in his best interest to play the tourney to maximize his wages and opportunities.

Why is everyone slagging Adam off? 2 goals 10 assists last year and some amazing passing. The biggest problem he has is that he holds onto the ball too much but with Rodgers style of play he'll be urged and taught not to so he could get even better next year.

With regards to signings if we somehow pulled of signing Jovetic and Luuk De Jong I would be ecstatic however I highly doubt that will happen.

Also have we any news on more hirings that JWH mentioned like the admin and recruitment team?

I dont think getting an expensive striker and keeping Carroll on the bench is feasible. Plus I have faith in Carroll.

This is key I think. We need to have numerous goal threats throughout the team. I want a top class striker brought in but I don't want the side to be built solely around supplying that striker. Gylfi would go some way to adding to the goal threat the team carries onto the pitch but we need more especially from the wings seeing as Maxi may go and Dirk has already left.

Dont think its 100% either way. His agent was actively looking for a new club & given a set price for the player by Barca... at the back end of last season but since he has proved his fitness last week Barca told his agent to stop looking. If a good bid comes in & a project the player is interested in he will be off, just not for the original reported bargain price.

Not miles better than anyone, Henderson over both Adam and Downing though. Far tidier, smarter player.

On a serious note though Fordy, how can you say "You obviously know nothing about football" or "you don't watch Liverpool play" when there are so many people that are saying one thing, and you and a couple of others saying the other? Have you ever stopped to consider that you're defending him because you were so gung ho about us signing him, and he's been a poor buy?

Contributed to more goals than any other of our midfielders despite being out for 3 or so months. Also as I have said before Adam was played very out of position when Lucas got injured- not really his fault. He did what it said on the tin. He only cost about £6 million and has done enough to justify his price, get off his back.

You're overstating his positive contributions while vastly understating his negatives. It's almost painfully obvious that Charlie NEEDS to play with Lucas or someone of his skill...whichn is a shame because I do like him but the sheer number of times he gives the ball away, lets an opposition player ghost past him, etc has played a pretty big part in a lot of our poor performances.

And it's not just him though but he is one of the more addressable issues we have in our playing squad. Issues that the new structure is supposed to identify and correct.

we need a player that can almost rip the crossbar off like Charlie did at goodison. we need a player that can look up and tear the entire chelsea team apart with one pass in the 85th minute at stamford bridge for the winner. However we also needed that same player to not get sent off at white hart lane because he refuses to learn how to tackle intelligently at 26 years old. We can't have that player giving away free kicks on the edge of the box nearly every appearance.

We've wasted too much time affording patience to the wrong players, that part of our culture needs to be addressed.
This isn't an attack on Charlie but his situation is a microcosm of an issue that's been afflicting our approach to players for too long now.

Yes Fordy! Adam is such a good deep lying playmaker, you are so right he is way better than henderson.

he is such a good deep lying playmaker that he actually goes further up the bitch and doesn't need to dictate the pace of the game from a deep position because he does it all in one hollywood pass.

henderson is such a young quality player who is good in possession, with nice patient football, ever improving and has a brilliant future at our club if he keeps his head down. but hes no where near adam!

Thats great but hes a striker and offered 0 threat at goal all game. If you seriously want bendtner then your clearly fine with liverpool finishing midtable for ever. Hes an average footballer who thinks hes amazing and leads the line for denmark because who else do they really have? Hes not good. Not better than carroll.

Never watch international games for judging players for clubs. RvP looked like ass today.

Few players look as good on the international stage as they do for clubs and the reverse is also true. We have two of the few players brilliant in both situations (Suarez and Agger)

Agree, look at Arshavin yesterday. He was brilliant for russia yet hes so inconsistent for arsenal and just average. And no being a striker isnt all about goals but his overall game today was poor, his movement was shocking upfront his passing was pathetic and he didnt create space or chances for other people which if you arent creating them for yourself as a striker you should atleast be doing it for other people. He was not good today, denmark won because of a defensive error by Netherlands and Denmark played great in defence and their keeper played great. If you honestly think Bendtner contributed alot to that game im afraid we watched a different game.

Good player, young, was on our list when Rafa was in charge, Fiorentina might be after Aquilani, part exchange, etc.

The thing is, Rafa was after him a few seasons ago but didn't have the money, just like many other quality players. Can't we just loan Rafa's computer and extract a few names from his scouting folder?
