I just think it'd be a waste of money. I really don't think he's as good a player as people make out.

Is it the bumchin putting you off?

We need to be all over this.

I think Afellay is overrated but maybe worth a punt at £6m. He's played less games of football than Tevez this season.

Adam Johnson just isn't that good.

Far better players available.

This feels like a Stewart Downing comment circa 2010.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

Due to injuries. He would be a risk, but he's the sort of player we are sorely lacking in our side.

At that price, it's a no brainer.

I fear we will be getting Walcott for over £10m and Arsenal will be getting Afellay to replace him for £6m.

We should definitely try to get Afellay. Injured for most of the season but still a very good player.

Barca are intrested in Walcott so could be one of those 'never happen' swap deals!  :)  I know people will so no way Barca would want Walcott but it goes back to when they played a couple of years back & he really impressed them.

Dont mind Walcott for 10m.People forget that he is still 23,after 6 years of experience at the highest level. And he deffo is no Downing. As inconsistent as he may be, he wont bottle it at a big club.

Yes but without a proper finisher Walcott will struggle here as would many wingers unless theyre top class like Lavezzi. If we buy a Cavani or something Downing and Walcott would both come good here.

Rodgers system is all about possession, the opposite of Adam Johnson. He doesn't play for City because he's not good at retaining possession. If he comes here Rodgers will surely have to mould him into a better and smarter player. Same with Walcott.

He is a very good player, don't see why people wouldn't want him, his record even off he bench for City has been good always seems to make something happen when he comes on. He would be a star for most teams in the league and one thing you can guarantee with him is that he never shies away from taking on players and he is damn good at it as well, he is the type of player we've needed for years.

Maybe,but if Luis/Andy start firing,it could change.

Again mate,he is 23,not 27.If he costs 10m,half of Downing's fee, cant see the problem. And then he has been plying CL for the past 6 years at a top club playing the similar brand of football that Rodgers would use.Downing played at small clubs and bottled it after coming to Liverpool.Downing had 0 goals and 0 assists.Walcott had 8 goals and 11 assists in the PL at a big club.Wouldnt mind that.

How many of those Walcott assists were for Van Persie? All of them. What I'm saying is without a finisher he would struggle to get assists, most of his goals come from him playing up front. Downing had Bent (good finisher) at Villa = many assists. Walcott had Van Persie (world class finisher) = many assists. Neither Suarez nor Carroll are reliable finishers, yet.

Walcott is a bit unrealistic why come to us over stay at Arsenal? I can see him leaving for either a big contract or the opportunity to play where he wants as central striker, neither would happen here.

Walcott is not good enough in my opinion, anytime he is faced with a defender with a bit of pace he disappears i mean i can remember Jack Robison keeping him quiet in his first senior start for us. There are far better options than Walcott for that price, we can't be having Downing and Walcott on both wings, there both carbon copies of each other, can't dribble, have zero intelligence yet people keep on banging on about how they would be unplayable if they got it together but they never do, Walcott has been at Arsenal for 6 years yet i haven't seen any real signs of improvement in his all round game.

You're taking Walcott's goals out of the equation there. As for finisher, fine we could get someone/or maybe a quality wide forward who can guarantee many goals.Or maybe Suarez wont miss that many/Carroll may start firing(he already is showing signs). At around the 10m mark, would take Walcott. At 20m,no freaking way.

Where’s this Walcott talk come from? Strange move if that happened, Arsenal looking to get rid? On his day he's a very dangerous player and can finish with ease. Other times he's erratic and wastes alot of chances. Still young so his consistency may improve it certainly has over the last 2 seasons. He's much better then what we currently have out wide thats for sure.

I just don't see FSG signing multiple 20+ million players & really we are not in a situation yet to do so. 3 or 4 solid around the 10 million mark would help the squad alot & they are defiantly out there. Be interesting if we make signings early or wait for Rodgers to evaluate the players we have first.

So sign 4 10M players rather than two 20M players? Yeah that makes sense as what we need is more "solid" players who can "help the squad"

The question is would people take:

1. Injury prone Afellay for 6m.
2. Walcott/Adam Johnson for 12m.
3. Lavezzi for 24m.

I'd still take Lavezzi which is worrying about the other 3 considering their prices.

Spreading the risk a bit after spending huge fees on players that have not quite lived up to expectations, just think its the way FSG would prefer to go. You could get the likes of Ba, Vertonghen, Afellay, Hoilett ect all in that price range.
