Bradley is a cracking shout I'd have to say. Would be a low cost slution to reasonably big problem in the side. has a bit of a nasty streak as well, which the side most certainly needs at times.

I would take Walcott in a shot, he's really improving as a player. I think some of the negative accusations leveled against him in the thread were possibly true at one point or another during his career, but it's undeniable that he is getting better and he's still a very young guy.

8 million for Affellay is a no brainer.
I remember years ago doing the fart with your fingers pointed like a gun.

I did it to my brother, I had a dressing gown on.

Instead of farting I shat on the floor - my brother thought I was demented.

A quick read through this thread and IMO seems like some are either over-shooting the quality of player that we can attract (sans CL and w an upstart manager) or massively under-shooting the quality (e.g. Swansea players).

Anyway, since we are apparently constructing the most painfully pasty white first team squad & manager in the modern football era, I hope that means that we are going to give Michael Bradley (@ Chievo) a look.  Guy can flat out play.  Other than Gerrard (the times when he is healthy) and Lucas (who IMO he's equal to in ability) Bradley (24yr) is better than any of our midfielders and would be a great compliment to Lucas and hopefully any scoring threats that we may bring in.  Plus he wouldn't break the bank, so some dollars could be set aside to pay off some heavies to knock some stadium-sized-sense into the city council.

haha what a ridiculous statement. Bradley was awful at Villa, just because he plays well when surrounded by average players doesn't mean he's any good

I don't really like the idea of us buying within the league, unless the fee is quite low, which is usually not the case.
There are quality players that would cost a lot less in Spain, Germany, France etc. We just need to look for them.

What about Adam Johnson, James Milner and huntelaar, that would solve most of our issues, maybe not the complete jump in class some are after but one step at a time

Not sure if they are available but I would guess with the correct structured deal they would be

A club with Downing cannot afford to turn its nose up at Walcott. It is written.

Suarez Hunterlaar Walcott....in a Rodgers-Swansalona 4-3-3 please Bob?

I would love Afellay but only as the playmaker in a midfield three. it was only when he moved into the centre did he truly exhibit his qualities at PSV. Before that he was a decent winger, but nothing special. He is quick, sure, but his main quality is his creativeness and passing ability.

sport in Spain. Might go up if he performs in the euro though.

Thanks. Cheap price for some of his quality, though he's had a serious injury so who knows how he'll come back. Would love him here though, and isn't someone who is totally unrealistic. Even if we could get him in on loan, it'd be worth it.

I didn't think it was possible to turn things around but in the dressing room at halftime Rafa Benitez was calm - "We are Liverpool FC, we have so many fans, we are not going to be slaughtered. If we can score a goal quickly we push on from there.""

Not sure where to post this.  I see Chelsea are spending masses this summer, how does that fit in with FFP rules?  I'm sure they haven't made £80m-£100m profit to spend.  Or is this where we see how toothless FFP really is?

I think that would be a good shout, if we were splashing cash for a wide player and a striker. How old is he though, 30/31? Would you partner him with Lucas?

What do people make of this?

http://www.arsenalinsider.com/6361/walcott-was-off-to-liverpool-til-dalglish-was-axed/#axzz1wORg1TBZhttp://www.arsenalinsider.com/6361/walcott-was-off-to-liverpool-til-dalglish-was-axed/#axzz1wORg1TBZ

I'm not the biggest fan of Walcott myself but think he can be a decent player. Still prefer Lavezzi, if we can't get Lavezzi or even Adam Johnson then maybe Walcott will have to do.
Interesting, if true. I thought Theo wanted to be played as a striker and not on the wing, which Im sure thats what the remit would have been if we were indeed getting him? I'd take him in a heartbeat. IF Dirks off, he could slot straight into that wing spot, and be used to play up top in certain games. Though I can see him being far too costly for us.

Fulham's attacking midfielder? Why would Chelsea go for him when they now have Hazard, Mata & Marin who can play that role?

Good player mind, wouldn't mind him here. Frustrating end product though.
For the same reason they reason they bought Sidwell.

Absolutly wasted there. Whats his ambition though? Is he going to fight it out and try and push for a 1st team place under the new manager, or take a move?

Before he got injured he had a really good spell on the wing in Barcelona. Made some decisive performances in Champions League (couple of assists and a goal, if I recall correctly). But agree with your point; would mainly be used as a offensive-minded playmaker in a midfield three.

Johnson flatters to deceive and Milner may be just as likely to be Downing Mk II. I would rather no more English wingers be signed - all the ones worth signing are unsignable and all the rest are not worth the money (except perhaps Hoilett who is not English anyway...)

Take the 15-20M that that would have taken up and use it to sign a Lucas Moura or Lavezzi instead

So when we’re looking at bringing in new players we should consider players to fit in in the modell who’s used by Rodgers and who’s divided into zones. You can read more about the zones in this excellent piece: http://www.eplindex.com/14987/brendan-rodgers-tactical-approach-liverpool-adapt-tikitaka.html

Going through our squad as it stands today we’ll have some gaps to fill and we have a lot of players that can play a part in this setup.

Zone 1: Reina, Doni, Gulacsi
This will not be changed if all of them want’s to stay. Doni is a good backup that could get more gametime when we’re challenging in Europe League this season.

Zone 2: Agger, Skrtel, Coates, Carragher, Coady, Wisdom, Wilson
There could be some questionmarks about Carragher and Wilson. I’m more convinced about Coady and Wisdom taking a step up.

Zone 3: Lucas, Spearing
This zone will need to strengthen, Spearing needs to step up his game a lot if he’s going to stay. We need to bring in a good backup for Lucas that also challenge him to be on his toes. And with the amount of games next season we need to rest Lucas in some games.

Zone 4: Johnson, Kelly, Enrique, Robinson, Flanagan
I have high hope for Robinson next season so I don’t see any reason to bring in a new player for this zone. Maybe Flanagan should go out on loan to gain some experience to make further progression.

Zone 5: Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Aquilani, Suso, Cole
Aquilani would fit in well in this system but I still think he prefers to live in Italy and he’ll be off to Milan or Fiorentina. Cole doesn’t fit in at Liverpool so he’s off to. Henderson and Shelvey fit’s in well in this system so do Suso. Gerrard will need to adjust a bit but he’ll do it and excel at it. Adam is used to this modell when playing at Blackpool so I really can see him stay. But still we could do with a new playmaker.

Zone 6: Suarez, Maxi, Downing, Kuyt, Sterling, Pacheco, Bellamy, Eccelstone
Suarez will be more suited to play in this system and he’s better starting on the wing then as a CF. Sterling knows this system already and it could be a huge season for him nextyear. Could Rodgers develop Pacheco like he did with Scott Sinclair? Questionmarks have to be made on Kuyt and Maxi since they both seems to want more gametime then we can offer. Downing and Eccelstone could go as well if Rodgers does’nt see him as a starting player. We need to bring in at least one or two new faces here and they need to be teamplayers as well as a good passer with great movement.

Zone 7: Carroll
This zone is we’re we need to get more choices in. I this zone we need a good finisher who has a good firsttouch and as well are a good passer with great movement. Carroll showing glimpses of that at the end of the season.

So what could we expect nobody knows for sure, thinking of the strategy that FSG want’s to use when buying players here’s my thoughts on who Liverpool should aim at.
For zone 3: Javi Martinez £20m or Banega £10m
For zone 5: Gylfi Sigurdsson, £7m or Rasmus Elm, £7m or keeping Aquilani
For zone 6: Two of Bellhanda £12m, Gaston Ramirez £16m and Hoilett £3m (compensation)
For zone 7: Luuk de Jong £12m
Cost between £44-67m

Migth leave: Cole, Aquilani, Kuyt, Maxi, Spearing, Pacheco, Eccelstone and Wilson

Flamini is very, very average. That one break out season that got him the move to Arsenal has been his best season to date, and that says a lot seeing as it was quite a few years ago now.

I expect Rodgers has a list of players he wanted from his time at Swansea, some who were unobtainable at the time who now are. Hopefully he will move quickly to get the players he wants.

I meant take the 15-20M and use it towards signing another better player. If Lucas Moura is unavailable, then they should go for Lavezzi or some other player. As long as they are significanl;y better than Downing.

Glad to see know we have a manager we can try get some players in, hopefully before the Euros. Sure there'll be a meeting with the scouts and Brendan Rodgers soon.
