Joseph Barton ‏ @Joey7Barton

The head was never gone at any stage, once I'd been sent off, one of our players suggested I should try to take 1 of theirs with me...

Truly mental behavior. Still, made to look worse by the way Tevez and Aguero go down. Why do people pretend to be hurt.

Probably learned that from Joey Barton himself, the way he went down like a girl after being slapped by Gervinho in the first match of the season. What goes around comes around, eh Joey? I'm sure there's a Nietzsche quote he can tweet to explain it all away. Perhaps he was going for this one-
Whoever has provoked men to rage against him has always gained a party in his favor, too.
Too bad for him, no City player took the bait.
You can all quote me on this.

We will finish in a CL slot this season regardless of today's result.

He's absolutely mental. Pretty despicable human being really. Have never really believed the whole 'reformed character' nonsense because he's always up to something new. Also this 'the media pick on him' argument is bollocks. Nothing at all to do with his reputation going before him. He was sent off because he's tapped in the head. Needs an 8 game ban. Hope he never plays in the league again.

Having said all that... it'll make for some quality viewing later, and I'm looking forward to it. Oh and cheers for helping City win the title!

Thought Micah Richards came out of that well.

This. Balotelli however....no need for him to get involved. Just stupid.

I just don't get Joey Barton. If he doesn't get a long ban for this.....something is seriously wrong...
I mean seriously how the fuck does he do it? How is he so fucking brilliant that his brilliance makes everyone play better?

I'll add to the "5 rule changes I'd like to see" thread with one that has been on my mind for a while, which is that it should be possible for a ref to give a single player two red cards (or more) if merited.  If they do, then the manager would be forced to take another player off too (i.e. the second red is enforced on the team in that match).  Otherwise, players do what Barton tried to do today, which is to get one of the opponent players to take a red too by antagonising him after his own red.
I think you can get more than one red can't you??

Fellow pundit Garth Crooks added: "This will go beyond the summer. When the FA seee this there will be reprisals. It's extraordinary. You can only describe it as an assault on Carlos Tevez. He should get a six-month ban, for that incident alone."

Must have missed the same clamor for Ivanovic to get banned for his elbow on Carroll. It's not about reputation though.

Don't think Barton's is remotely comparable to that. He nutted Kompany, decked Tevez then kicked Aguero from behind. He's an absolute c*nt, a faux-intellectual twat and I hope they throw the book at him and his "renewed character" bollocks.

What are you on about? Where does it suggest I didn't get that? I'm saying I hope they cut him down like he deserves to be. I doubt this will end in a six month ban, but it'd be right if it did considering he has previous and basically attacked 3 players after getting sent off today.

I was clearly talking about the elbow alone you prat, hence comparing it to the Ivanovic elbow. You then for some reason reminded me that he did more than that alone. I don't give a shit about what else he did, Crooks's comments were about the elbow, thats what irritated me.

The thing about Barton is, at least he's honest. Given the banal shite that comes out footballers mouths these days at the behest of their clubs, he's at the very least a bloke who speaks his mind. He doesn't conform to fuck all, which in a way I kind of respect. Did he act the c*nt today? Yeah he did. Admitting that he tried to get a Man City player sent off with him was perhaps a tad tactless. But fuck me, it would be a tad "high horse-ish" of us to think that none of our players go in the dressing room at half time and say stuff like "see that fucker who put his studs down my shin, I'm gonna clump that c*nt in the 2nd half". Of course it goes on, it probably goes on in every dressing room. The only difference between Barton and the rest of todays footballers is that he doesn't give a fuck about publically admitting to partaking in dark practices of cynicism, which are (always have been and always will be) a part of football.

Barton overall, aint the worst bloke in football. And those of you knocking him are pretty quick to forget just how vociferous he was when he was doing his utmost for the petition relating to the government files and Hillsborough. Dare I say it, even more proactive than some currently associated with Liverpool FC. Give him a break. He's ok in my book to be honest

It started with him trying to block Tevez who then had a swipe at him. Barton then clearly elbowed Tevez and that's what he was sent off for.

What happened next will keep him out of the game for months.

He deliberately kicked Aguero - his face was full of anger when he did it. He then tried to stick his face (head butt a City Player).

Then he goes onto Twitter and claims that he was trying to get a City player sent off as well.

By far the stupidest things I've seen for a long time.

I'm sorry but just because he's petitioned for hillsborough doesn't make him any less wrong. What he done today, as captain of his club, with relagation on the line, was pure and simple lunacy. Hes a fukn grade A nut job, and his twitter account exposes him for the moronic ape that he is.
People are quick to suggest its his reputation but you earn what you deserve and by fuck does he deserve to be fucked off by QPR. Put their whole season in jeopardy. Wouldnt mind but he's average, at best!

This so called 'professional' disgusts me. As a practising professional of my chosen profession, I would be removed from my present position, and have no future career. However, a footballer, who earns more in a week than I care to think about, will enjoy his life without financial worry (and responsibility), where the vast majority of the country's population are struggling to find the money to live a normal life.

I'm sorry but just because he's petitioned for hillsborough doesn't make him any less wrong.

Just allow me to clarify:

- I'm in no way trying to excuse his actions on the back of his good deeds for the Hillsborough campaign

- I did say that he acted the c*nt today, which he did. I'm not denying that for one second

- And you're correct, he is a bit of a nutjob

I just find it a bit fresh that people are so quick to hammer him for admitting to what he did today, when truth be told, plenty of players do same, week in week out. The only difference is Barton is at least honest/dumb enough (depending on what way you want to view it) to admit his twattishness
