With all the euphoria over the new kit (and rightly so, it looks boss) it just got me thinking about how Warrior and/or the club aim to sell these.
Now, when we had a tie up with Adidas, we made use of their franchise stores worldwide, and that got us a lot of sales. But the last time I checked, Warrior, or any of their subsidiaries, don't have any such stores worldwide.
Just a little example. I live in India, and in my city (Bangalore) alone, there are about 15 Adidas stores which sell Liverpool merchandise, including the kit. The home kit sold at Rs. 3000 (roughly 35 quid). Now if I were to order it online, including shipping and handling, it comes up to about Rs.5200. Now that's a huge difference. I mean I'll still buy it, but there are a lot of people who'll be put off by it. And not every fan has access to online shopping.
A fan club here asked Warrior Football on Twitter how they're gonna market their merchandise in this part of the world, and they said something along the lines of we're working on it, we'll let you know soon.
My only worry is this will not only reduce the number of shirt sales, but will also encourage people to buy cheaper knock-offs. You can get cheaper, local ones here for Rs. 350 ( about 4 pounds). And a lot of people will end up buying those instead as it's easier to buy rather than order online, which really hasn't caught on that much. Yet.
Either way, the club will end up losing revenue. Have Warrior made any announcement regarding this?
P.S. Sorry if this has already been covered in another thread
