I generally agree with this.

One of my biggest gripes this season was that we actually took the domestic cups seriously. I believe this had a negative effect on our league campaign.

The only way for us to become a top club again is to get back into the CL - that unfortunately the way of the modern game. We don't have the necessary squad depth to support competitions on more than one front, so I say, focus on the main prize - the Premiership.

We exist to win trophies. Fucking hell.

We underachieved in the league primarily due to our poor home displays, and lack of killer instinct. This can and I believe will be corrected in
the summer. We'll be 20 pts better off next season, whether that's enough to guarantee a CL spot or not time will tell.

Really looking forward to getting back on our travels next season, and it will do the likes of Jonjo, Rahim, Kelly, Flanagan, Coates, Teixeira etc the world of good to get 90 minutes against some decent quality European opposition. Ideal opportunity for a player to push for a regular place in the first team.

The first few rounds of this,carling and maybe the fa cup we can blood some youngsters, give lads like shelvey , Raheem, Kelly, Coates, Flanagan and Robinson enough game time to assist with their progress.

The Olympic Football Tournament finishes on the 11th August. The round we come in is on the 2nd and 9th August. So I guess we'll be allowed our players back for the Europa League qualifying round?

What Liverpool players are in the olympic effort anyway? Don't think we know yet. Anyway, obviously proper footie comes before the London mess that is the olympics

I hope we win it. We might not qualify for the CL next season, but winning this would put us back on the map.

Does anyone have a rough idea how a sale for the away game in europa will be? like will it be previous games in europa or will it be prem away etc? and whats a rough estimate on price?

Really looking forward to it. Not worried about the distractions. If anything, it gives us a chance to build confidence in the early stages (assuming we don't fuck it up!).

Downside is too many sunday games which is a nightmare for travel to anfield for me. But hey, would rather be in it, than not.

any sale for the euro aways should take on board our last season in a european competition, in the past credits from the previous season have been used but the credit amount always started high if i remember at first?

cost will always depend on where we go, anything from £10 in romania to £50 in spain so you can't really take a stab at ticket cost till the draw has been made, hope that helps mate.

Well if our league standing the last few seasons is anything to go by, this is our current level.

Personally i'm looking forward to it, hopefully play some teams we havn't played in many years and the way things are going it may be a welcome distraction from the league. Might actually see Coates play some games too.

But when you take into consideration that the season was over (in terms of the league) 4 months ago, and yet Kenny was still reluctant to give any significant playing time to the young ones. Then you look at games more recently like Norwich, and Chelsea, where the game was effectively over by half time, yet Kenny decides that its still not a good enough time to throw some youngsters into the mix. And then today, on the final day, in a meaningless game, we still fail to see some youngsters get some minutes....Kenny's squad rotation and choice of substitutions have been poor all season, and there's little reason to believe that anything will change next season, in a European tournament of all places....

Europa isn't gonna help next season. Most our games will be pushed 2 the sunday afternoon timeslot as well our season will start earlier because of the qualifying process. I'm already worried given that the Euro is on as well and some of our players won't have a proper break. 2 be honest with u play the kids in the europa and if we get knocked out then so be it. I really don't want it especially from this early stage of the tournament. If we won the fa cup then it would have been acceptable, our season would start a bit later

Didn't Lucas say he would love to be picked? He may change his mind depending on his recovery. I don't want anyone from our team playing football for 3 months. Just those crappy friendlies. Obviously that isn't going to happen with the Euro 2012.

2nd August is a real early time to start the competitive season. According to the Fail, we seem to have these 3 games before the qualifying,

So, 4 days interval between our game on July 28 and 2nd August. Just wondering how match-ready the squad will be come then.

Also hope we will stop screwing around with transfers and get our main targets sewn up nice and early before the Euros can inflate their prices.

yes i agree, some great football played in his years comp. I also think it will be a great stage for us to play on. A Tough leauge with some tricky away games where some of the squad can get their first european experience. guys like shelvey, Carroll, Henderson, Stirling and Coates will greatly benefit from it and any other of the younger lads coming through. Even if its not the CL it will be great to have European football back at Anfield. Love those nights!!

There's 19 games to play in this. There will be a lot of games for fringe players, there's no way around it.
