I think he played for the in-off. Not necessarily down to the angle of Essien but thought it has as much chance of going in off a Chelsea player here. He certainly wasn't pulling it back to an angle for anyone else.

I felt exactly the same thing when watching it live yesterday.
In Holland, they don't say they are developing players - they say they are developing future coaches.

watching the replay again suggests to me that he meant to kick into essien.

He was wonderful yesterday, thing of class he is.

I feel, the only thing we need to sort out in liverpool, is our midfield, once Lucas is back, there 1, gerrard ofcourse, and maybe get two more wingers, but also keeping the ones we got because of uefa cup or whatever its called, and you never know, that cup may HELP us, because if he plays the second team, the 1st gets a rest, while also maybe keeping the second match fit and maybe in abit of form, im hoping he plays raheem sterling and he'll get very good exp, more than he would in carling cup.

I must say, and im praying god helps us, but i think we could have a really good team next season, we also need a little luck aswell :)

As evidenced by Saturday in the final, we really need someone to link up midfield and attack, someone who naturally plays further forward in midfield because we were punting the ball up to him to fight with Ivanovic and Terry for which was never going to work. He's not that type of player. He needs a top quality striker next to him as well, and I know Carroll's been performing much better recently, but I still feel we need someone around their prime who is notorious for goal scoring to take the burden and we'll see the best out of Luis.

Suarez is a world class player, an attacking force of nature... He sees things other players don't...

For me when he megged terry for the 1st time and ran in on goal, I was off my couch...

His 1st goal, that was amazing... Argue was it on target, was it a shot, IMO he ran the ball past 3 players? And took it all the way to Chelsea's goal post and put it into the danger area... He did the hard work and hoped it would go in... It did and fair dos to him for having that run pay off...

Everyone dives in the game... To an extent... Luis is no worse than any other attacking player in the league...has happened far too often, for far too long to even get riled up over this or make this a moral issue for me... The one sided view of the public regards luis is oh so bad and other players don't get mentioned ... Makes me switch off even faster.... If others are going to skew what actually happens on the pitch and focus on luis alone.... Well I'll stand by my Suarez.. There are worse offenders .... To be clear though if we are going to have a debate on diving ... Post match sanctions for diving should apply.... This behaviour continues because it is rarely picked up and punished....

Anyway the point was enjoy his time with us, don't believe the naysayers, he really is that special and with some better players around him he could top 30 goals IMO.... He's a better all round player than Torres IMO.....

I dont know mate, Carroll is really coming into his own, and is it any surprise that he's playing well, when him and Suarez are in the team together?

I think it'd be good to get a good back up goal scorer, i.e maybe yakubu, i know he played for the cnuts across the road, but he'd be good as a back up, and cheap. but other than that, kenny needs to have a look at the midfield, and again, i think we're only two really good midfielders from back in the big time again. Maybe get a few more right and left back options, but that isnt the most important thing.

I still have reservations about going into next season with Carroll as our first choice striker, despite his excellent recent performances. I'd worry he wouldn't get us the goals we need.

Having said that, I think our main priority is sorting out the midfield and getting goal scoring wide players.

I dunno if it was the Luis Garcia chants airing last night or what....

But i have a feeling when i look back on Suarez's career with us i will remember it the same as Luis Garcia...(although hopefully not as short)

He can be infuriating at times when he loses the ball unnecessarily, or opts to take on another man/ridiculous shot instead of squaring the ball for a tap in etc.

But he does have more than a touch of genius about him..moreso than Garcia...but just like him, you know when Luis gets the ball something special could happen...

one of the best dribblers ive seen too...so clumsy yet magical at the same time...fantastic to watch.

Although it can be a downfall in some respects when he goes for too much, I love the way he plays football.  You can tell he's playing for the love of it. If he was lazy, his extravagance would be more annoying but he works his arse off too, that's what makes him so special.

No, No no and no
Never build a team around 1 player thats been our mistake over the last 10 years. We build a team on 1 player (Owen, Gerrard, Torres etc.) only to see that player kicked and marked out of the game, or injured. What we need (and we started to see this at the end of last season) was a team built around an attacking 4, with the identity of those players interchangeable. An opposing team can double up on 1 player, they can't use the same tactic on 3 or 4 of them without being woeful in the rest of the pitch.
Suarez had no right to score that one but then again he is Suarez and he doesn't give a fuck.

Correct. He speaks in plural when talking about saying goodbye, but the English translation misses crucial wording from the Spanish original. That makes it look as if it's just him saying goodbye, when in fact he is speaking about the team.

I want a third striker too, not because of lack of faith in Andy but because what if Carroll or Suarez get injured...

Also we're playing more games next season. If we're going to go with 4-4-2 which I think we need to, then we need atleast one striker... preferably a striker and a player in the mould of Suarez who gives us an alternative option.

Also if you analyse the top 5 or 6 teams, they all have more depth in the striker position than we do (or are solving that in this window).

His movement from the right is droolworthy.

We don't need a new winger IMO if we can start playing him on the right next season and That's where he should play.

He shouldn't play directly on the right wing. I think he should play exactly where he has played agaisnt Norwich and Chelsea.

He plays there for Uruguay and flourishes there, operating the right channel but still has the support from a winger on the right.

From whatever I've seen this season, Kenny always asks the players the switch flanks regularly during a game. He would be perfect for that along with another tricky winger/forward who can gel well with him.Carroll would play in the CF position moving up and down the pitch feeding aerial balls onto their feet.

The lad is immense.
In terms of Carroll, I'd keep him playing upfront with Luis too. I'm being serious when I say those two are the most dynamic and awkward attack in the world. Not necessarily the most prolific or talented, but the combination of a superb aerial and physical threat (who has shown he can play along the floor and has an incredible shot) along with a player who is agile, skilful and so unpredictable, leaves defenders with almost no clue of what to expect. Chelsea couldn't handle the dynamism last night, and I truly believe that in games where we can dominate the middle of the park, we'll begin to destroy opponents.

He gave an interview to a Uruguayan TV network:

Quote
"I learned to figure out those who are with me"

The striker said that what happened to him with Patrice Evra allowed him to figure out who "cuddle you up out of self-interest"

"I learned to figure out those who are with me and those who aren't," said Luis Suarez after everything that happened with Patrice Evra.

In an interview with Subrayado, the striker said that, thanks to what happened, he learned to distinguish a few that "get close to you out of self-interest."

Regarding the Evra case, he said that he cannot speak. "Out of respect, sometimes I prefer to stay silent," he said.

In addition, he confessed that his wife, Sofia Balbi, was "the one who got all the cheap shots."

The possibility of going to the Olympics
Suarez said that his participation in the football championship of the 2012 London Olympic Games does not depend only on Oscar Washington Tabarez.

"It also depends on the club, if they let you or not, because it's not so easy when you are over the U-23 limit," he said.

It is possible that some of the matches of the tournament take place in Old Trafford, Manchester United's stadium, Patrice Evra's team.

"The last thing I will look at will be the stadium, I'll look at the fact that I am playing for my country at the Olympic Games," he said.

By the way, the interview is titled "Suarez says he wants to stay in Liverpool."  ;)

The way I look at it, when Luis is upfront on his own he's man marked and/or brought down and is half the player compared to a Luis with a player in front of him and him attacking the channels between the CB and fullbacks.  Andy Carroll pushed the Chelsea centrebacks 20 yards nearer their goal and this meant Luis had space to attack.  The lad is something special and I reckon with more quality around him the more we'll see from him, he's just so comfortable with the ball and his pace is deceptive

He's a very capable striker but it's only half of his game, and what we're his assist stats like at ajax?

I think it took him about a month after the ban to get back into things. He struggled initially which I think is absolutely fair enough.

His movement is far  better than anyone else in the squad. I don't think he's the sort of player that we need to "build around" like we did Owen or Torres because he creates so much for himself and others but certainly need to get some intelligent players around him. There have been some glimpses of potential with Carroll but that needs more time.

Super player though, absolutely top notch and we need to do everything to keep hold of him
It's wonderful, it's marvellous, it's 3-3

We support him best when we surround him with other similarly gifted, quick moving and quick thinking and intelligent players. I wouldn't mind seeing a line up like this next season:-

-----------------------Carroll/Castaignos
---Ramirez/Sterling------Jovetic/Gerrard------------Suarez/Shelvey
----------------Martinez/Henderson--------Lucas/De Jong

His movement from the right is droolworthy.

We don't need a new winger IMO if we can start playing him on the right next season and That's where he should play.

Been saying that since he's joined. ;D

Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong.
