Well it sure beats being one day away from administration, in my book.

How much longer can we keep saying this?

7 Years without a trophy and the fans getting ansey the old Arsenal...and when did Spurs last win ought. True though, when counting up competition wins, 3rd place is always a medal winner!
Spurs won the Carling cup in 2008 but if you ask anyone of their fans or the Arsenal fans or even the Geordies who won nothing since the 70s, all of them wouldn't swap positions with us. FACT

We're sitting 9th in the table and people are seriously still arguing its not been a bad season?

Went to two cup finals. Knocked Everton out of the Semi. Knocked Manchester United and Manchester City and Stoke and Manchester City out of cups.

Beat Everton three times. Got a fair few great results. Saw Kenny doing press conferences. Had some great days out. Seen some great games. Have hope for the future. Got back into Europe.

Nah. Not too bad a season when alls done and said.
Football has reached the ninth gate of farce and pathetic, unbelievable trite nonsense. It's supposed to be a game and it's turned into pantomime, hype, quilts and bellends.

If you go out of business and go into administration and get carved up and get deleted from the records and are no longer a football club then you will struggle to win anything.

two defensive midfielders. thats the future, perfectly balanced team..  but charlie adam will be here next season playing along side Lucas

Can't see downing being sold either.. who would buy him for even half of what we paid?

We had a huge chance to regain the distance to the top teams in the summer, bulding on last seasons only second to united league form, but we fucked up and fell even futher back.

Finally when we get some slack and our new owners want to make investments we royaly screw our selfs over.

Swap "Everton" for "RS" and that reads like something you'd see on one of their forums.

Comolli was never a good idea. In fact, it was lunacy.  However, he didn't pick the team, he didn't decide on tactics, he didn't make weird substitutions, he didn't give up on 50/50 balls, he didn't decide to only motivate himself for big games and remain careless about the rest etc etc etc.

What I'm saying is that this fcuk up of a season is waaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond the responsibility of a single scapegoat.

Funny reads like you are looking for another one!  my precious!

It will always be said no matter what, as a matter of fact, I can bet some on here will say that same exact sentence,"Look where we were under H&G and look at us now." next season even though it has no effect to what has happened this season or what will happen the next one.

But we got past that yet you still think it's an excuse?  Finishing 16th is better than going out of business so is that OK for next season?

Lack of goals really cost us this season.

Please can we have alot of shooting practice this summer ?
Penalties too.

Oh and can we get the magnets removed from inside the goalposts & balls ?

Shankly went 6 years between trophies at one point in his career, & that was with a team he built himself, if that was now people like you would have done your best to undermine his position.

So i guess we'll never agree on whether it's bad, good or average.  And despite it being a fun debate is that really the question that matters?

Surely, where do we go from here is the key point.  Whether you see progress despite the failings or feel Kenny isn't the right man for the job, I'm seeing a lot of reasons for things going wrong but not a lot of solutions.

I've said before I do see progress despite the league placings, though I am concerned at our lack of tactical awareness on the pitch.  The squad needs some additions in the summer and ideally I see a need for a new CB (backup with Carra dropping away), potentially a new LB (backup), a backup DM, at least one first team winger, another striker.

We can build a team around Carroll and Suarez (I think), but we can't rely on them alone and Suarez is not an out and out striker (or at least he doesn't seem to be).  That number of additions will prove costly.

Biggest thing for me is that Kenny settles on a tactical plan and setup.  Too much tinkering for me.

Why do people put fact when it is just their opinion?

As for the rest given that two of them might be in the same European competition do you think their fans might wonder why they didn't get a trophy as well.

By the way the Spurs fans are currently tearing Arry a new arsehole on their forums, guess fans are fans whoever they support?

this thread sadly now is beginning to look like a pin cushion.

I struggle to take some of you seriously given the shit we have put up with over the last few years.

It's been a bit shit really, yes we won a cup, yes we got to the final of another, that's great, but as a club we'll never get near where we need to be without finishing in the top four and this season was a massive opportunity to do so which we've fucked up for ourselves for a variety of reasons. Bad transfers, bad finishing, injuries to key players and not strengthening in January being key ones. Had we won that Arsenal game we'd have gone one point off fourth and I strongly believe we could have pushed on from there and at least been in the mix, but we didn't, we lost, but still only being seven points off fourth, it's not unattainable. For whatever reason, we never regrouped after that and the decline was quite spectacular, something needs to change this summer, either the strategy or something else.

You really cant see it. You aren't getting behind them mate - you are apologising for them when some of them need to be held to account.

Listen, if we, as fans, drop our standards, then we give permission for the players to do likewise.  We have much an impact on thme as they have on us.  It's not rocket science.  So quit the self-congratulatory superfan shit.  You just sound simple.

Need to be held to account? So what then? Stop singing at the game? Start booing? Try and get the manger sacked? Try and get players fucked off and sold and go on a twatty merry go round of managers with unrealistic expectations. Zero long term plan. Zero chance of every getting anywhere and guaranteeing that the club will end up midtable because the so-called fans and club can't be arsed sticking with stuff even though patience would solve a lot of problems?

No offence. But shove that attitude up your hoop.
Football has reached the ninth gate of farce and pathetic, unbelievable trite nonsense. It's supposed to be a game and it's turned into pantomime, hype, quilts and bellends.

'If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing.' Bill Shankly

talked a lot of sense and I agree with your one so why is 2-3-4 more important than winning a cup I.e. coming first then, if you want to use a quote make sure it doesnt come back and bite you on the arse ,

 Gandalf  ::)

he also said this.  seems more applicable to you and few more.

"If you can't support us when we draw or lose, don't support us when we win" Shankly
