By the way my pic was in reference to the abuse Andy Carroll took one time when he was pictured laughing when were were 1-0 down. Calls for him to be sold and all over the head of it.

Some people on this forum are fucking clueless.

I don't think most of the players out there expected to start the final regardless of their performance definitely Coates, Aurelio and Kelly wouldn't be expecting a start if they played well. Same as Doni, Maxi and Shelvey

It shames to admit having the same thought; and if the players think that way ... well that's poison.

::) Lucas injured. Gerrard rested. Adam injured. Henderson, Shelvey are 21 and 20. Spearing is 6th choice? We may have Aquilani back.  We need a DCM cover for Lucas, but don't base transfer policies on one game where our main players were not playing.

One game? Really? ONE GAME?

Our central midfield has not been top class this season, not by a long shot. Sure, they've had a few good games, but they've not been consistently at the level they need to be at for us to be a top 4 team - i.e., some of the blame for our current league position lies in central midfield.

I'm not naming names but I think its one area of the team that'll need to be analyzed by management this summer. There has been big turnover at CM for us over the last couple years, and that has coincided with us becoming mid-table performers.

You have to expect that injuries will happen, so that can't really be an excuse. Lucas is our only top class central midfielder at present.

I'm all for allowing young players to develop, but you need to have one or two top class talents on the pitch alongside them in order for them to develop without our league position suffering.

Gerrard smiling and joking when we are 1-0 down, doesn't deserve to start the final  ::)

[irony/]

Are you joking? I hope you are. I'd rather see him smiling than sulking any day. Gerrard of old would have sulked to be left out of the team tonight. And one little picture doesn't tell the whole context so don't say stupid things like this.

As for the general performance of the team, it was poor, yes. But there's no need to over-react. This is a team  (and a manager) that knows they're not going to win the league or get into the Champions League spots; we're already in the Europa League and we have our best players rested in preparation for an FA Cup final on Saturday. No Suarez, no Reina, no Gerrard... (although I think Kuyt is being misused but that's another matter altogether).

But I love that Kenny is giving the young players a chance to get valuable experience in top flight football at a time when we're not going to make that much of a difference on the league or European spots. Players like Raheem Sterling. Experience. That's what tonight was all about. It's now or never for these kids because next year we won't be able to give them the chance to fail, esp. if we're going to challenge for the title and Champions league football. Am not saying the league doesn't matter this year (of course it's always going to matter); but for us right now in this moment what matters most is putting our best team out on Saturday, rested and ready to win the cup. The second priority is to let the reserves and young'uns have a go. They didn't get slaughtered so at least there was some dignity in the defeat (Skrtel might think otherwise).

Next year these players will be bossing it. Kenny knows they need the experience and that's what he's giving them while the stakes are not too high.  So you all need to stop panicking. This is not the end of the world!

Expectations are so low that I went into tonight's game expecting a poor result. That's not a good state of affairs.

The moment results like tonight stop being a surprise is the moment things need serious comnsideration.

It's not good enough. If Kenny starts off next season in a similar vein he will be under pressure, that's how football works, even for legends.

Andy Carroll- no fan of his, well it's a love-hate thing- played well tonight but the good and bad of his role in the team we saw tonight. At 2 mins 30,  or was it 6 mins plus, there was quickfire exchange of passes, and last pass on the left went to Carroll. It was laid into space for him by Maxi I think.  Carroll stood where he was- expecting the ball to come to him. That was the bad. The good was his hold up play and flick ons. The inexplicable was his inability to head the ball from a cross to score. He has not scored a headed goal from a cross from open play this season. How is that possible? Lastly, if he plays at the front, defences know he's never going to make a run to get behind them. You've set the team up with a weakness essentially. I like Carroll but how do we incorporate him. When he plays with Luis, it  is Luis who comes short and Andy stays up top. Kenny has to hold his hand up and say I made mistakes, and all managers make them but that not one of his signings has been an outstanding success is deeply worrying. Tonight Fabio Aurelio put  in 4 better crosses than Enrique, who many rate, has all year.  You can feel Fabio's crossing technique when he shapes to strike the ball. It has a beautiful curve. That is not a feeling you ever get when Enrique is about to cross. Fabio stays side on with the ball, as late as possible. It gives the cross shape. I pick Enrique not because he had a bad game but because he is viewed as one of the better signings.  I want to drink hemlock.

That isn't the argument. No-one's arguing that we've been great in the league, or that the league doesn't matter.

There's ways to criticise and there's ways not to criticise. If people can't get their head around that then they're better off out of here, whether temporarily or permanently.

They can either stop fucking crying or go and support Man City.

There is a lot of knee-jerking in here. We lost to a superior side.

Liverpool
32 Doni
06 Aurelio (Jose Enrique - 65' )
16 Coates
34 Kelly
37 Skrtel
11 Maxi
14 Henderson (Downing - 46' )
20 Spearing
33 Shelvey
09 Carroll
18 Kuyt

01 Schwarzer
02 Kelly
03 JA Riise
05 Hangeland
18 Hughes
13 Murphy
16 Duff
23 Dempsey
31 Kacaniklic (Frei - 58' )
07 Pogrebniak
30 Dembele

In the Liverpool line up, there isn't a single player who'd get into Fulham's. Perhaps Maxi for Kacaniklic, but that's it. You really expected a win?

I go to at least 13 home games a season, I sit in the main stand due to giving my Kop season ticket to my younger cousin. As I am only a student, I use my student loan and whatever pay I get for whatever hours I can get in my part-time job. My first final was in the Houiler days when I was just 10. I go home and away, travelled down to Wembley on two different occasions this season.  I didn't go to the game today, but could you imagine paying thirty-odd quid to watch that?

Meaningless game? Tell that to any of the 40 odd thousand which just paid to watch that shite.

Was basically saying the players let him down, and he was depending on them to put in a performance; as there is cup final places up for grabs.

Thats definately the most dissapointed I've seen him this season.

Nope, they'll take a serious look at Kenny, these players were targeted because they were consistently amongst the best players for their previous clubs, and for whatever reason it's gone downhill for them here.
And economics will play a big part my friend, it's a hell of a lot cheaper to replace a manager than a squad.
