Football has reached the ninth gate of farce and pathetic, unbelievable trite nonsense. It's supposed to be a game and it's turned into pantomime, hype, quilts and bellends.

Can't stand them in the north of France, they seem to get a bit friendier the more south you go. But in general I can't be bothered with them, too arrogant.

Francophile! I worked down in Nimes a while back, they were sound.
She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

I mean really, no wonder their language isn't that widely spoken when everytime you try and speak the stupid thing they get all offended at you 'butchering' it and insist on speaking English instead. Bitter fools.

Also I'm a horrible racist.

Francophile.  My supervisor is French and he's a cool guy.  And I have met quite a few French people in the last couple of years.  All of them are good fun.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Got a place out in the countryside (Haute Vienne region) and love it, the culture and the people. To counter the above view re use of French/English language quite a lot of the locals I've come across over there view their use of the English language as a form of a badge of honour as they see it as confirmation of what they learnt & remembered from their school days.

they are c*nts, full of bad manners and love to flash their saggy ding dongs on the beach in the south.  I think the middle of France is decent.  Cannot not like the French, I find their arrogance quite entertaining.

Love the South of France and if I win the lottery will move to Nice
Love the booze, particularly Cote du Rhone
French women are lovely

Yes the French do have a reputation for being a bit stuck up, but if you speak the language and don't act like the typical Brit abroad they will warm to you.

Francophobe.

Went to France last year for the first time, didn't meet a single sound french person, all arrogant and a few had a go at us for being english and being in Paris!

There will be quite a few sound french people I'm sure, but from my only experience, can't stand them.

Made great mates with a French lad while I was traveling, we still keep in touch, got on like a house fire.

My general experience is people are the same wherever you go, some are knobs, but most people are decent and kind, its up to you to decide which you give more credence to.

I agree with the above wholeheartedly.

As an oenophile I too must choose Francophile, the wines of France are splendid, especially those of southern France; CNP, CDR, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Tavel, Bourdeaux (all of it), and many more. (Wines from the North are also sound).

The Cote d'Azur is gorgeous. If I had the monetary means to I would move myself and the family there with out hesitation.

Did you meet him from the waist up or waist down?

I haven't been for years but have enjoyed every trip I've had to France and most of the people I've met seemed decent enough. Apart from the little kid who laughed at me and said I was speaking with a Japanese accent. I'm a Francophobe in his little direction!

I've lived in France for three (non-consecutive) of the last seven years...I have to say, I like the country a lot but I feel no differently about the French people from how I feel about my own. Lots of lovely folks, lots of assholes. Your average French person is perhaps slightly ruder than your average American, but only from an outside perspective.

I'm also a baguette addict and being able to buy a good one for €0.60 is ridiculous.
You know what, I'm writing this here now and I'm going to put it in my signature and leave it there for the next 5 years, no matter how embarrassing it might or might not turn out to be: Jordan Henderson is going to be a fantastic player.

I only dislike their football league really.

Love their women, history, cities, nature, films, literature, art, music, general attitude (not stuck up at all)... Not that big on Paris or their current president, though.

Looking at earlier comments, Paris is possibly the worst place in France to find a polite Frenchman.  Ive been going to Paris on and off for twenty years for the rugby so I'm used to it now and treat everyone there with a similar disdain.  I love ski-ing in the Alps, Courcheval and Val D'Isere being my favourites , I'm fond of their Gites in Brittany and have enjoyed some excellent rugby weekends in the hot bedbed of Rugby that is the Souh around Biarritz.

Francophobe.

Travel regularly down through France, in fact spent the last couple of summer holidays there, but it's always a relief to get to Spain. Just feel more affinity with the Spanish. They seem more fun and open.

France is beautiful and I admire the French individuality...but it can be a fairly dull place. Stop on a French campsite and they're all tucked up in bed by 10pm, whilst over the border in Spain they're just opening the wine & firing up the bbq.
