Part of me thinks it would be funny if he lasted less time at England than he did here, just to shove it down everyones throats.

Another part of me thinks he's probably not that bad a bloke and it's a bit harsh to wish failure on him.

The thing is though mate... He really is rather cuntish.

I don't know what is funnier about that question: that they think either of those managers would take the England job or that they actually had to ask if either is better than Hodgson.

She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

I wish I gave a shit about the England team so I could go through it all again... the senile press conferences, the bizarre decisions, the face-rubbing, the undermining of his own players, the brown-tongueing of rival managers, the spills, the thrills, the hooting and the howling. All hail, Uncle Hodgson! England's saviour!!! Hahahahahahahaha! Funnier than a semi-final defeat on pennas!

Same squad?

Suarez and Carroll instead of Torres and Babel then.

Point still stands - Roy wasn't a failure here because of the players he had, he was a failure because he couldn't handle top players and he couldn't handle the pressure of expectation. He'll fucking crumble with England after his first defeat.

That'll be part of it as well.

Like I say, they're sort of trying, really hard, to do the right thing. The FA are rightly trying to cut back on paying their coach an obscene wage and paying huge compensation for him.

They really do want a bloke to nurture their coaches at Burton and Hodgson is the only English candidate with that sort of back ground.

They tied their own hands as soon as they said they wanted an English manager.

The problem is they should be looking at someone to write the FA's Coaching manual for the next decade not bringing in someone who treats Allen Wade's Principles of play as his bible. They should be looking for someone who understands the way forward a footballing Visionary, instead they are plumbing for someone who has perfected mid table mediocrity and glass ceilings.

There is a serious side to this the young English players we are bringing through will be subjected to the systems and negativity that Hodgson's arrival will inevitably drip through the whole England setup.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10
