I've written a couple (maybe more?) that were put on the front page here. Istanbul, and Olympiakos in 2004 I can remember. Happy for them to be used. They are far from technically perfect mind - I could look at tidying them up a bit if you want.

I think it is a brilliant idea and I think RAWK would be totally behind it, as I'm sure would loads of other sites. Your best publicity though is always that first blast so I reckon it might be best to consult with the club first and check that they would be OK with the statue and then get something setup on JustGiving or similar so people can donate.
Get all that lined up for May 25th to commemorate the first of his legendary hat-trick and lets go for it.

WOOLTONIAN:
VdM whole project will take over 12 months and even that depends on contributors coming forth.
Have lost all contact nowadays with club, but agree, agreement must be reached before progressing.
