5-5-0 turned to 10-0-0 tonight. Seriously aswell

Never seen the like

10-0-0?  That's a big of a ridiculous statement.  How did they manage to get 7 shots off tonight?

At least there will be another team to root for this time.  Moscow was a whole different level of shiteness.
Not if Madrid get there.

The fact that those four players were involved in the business end of the European Cup (Xabi, Arbeloa, Torres and Mascherano) should shut the myth up about Rafa's transfer record once and for all but you know it won't.

not to mention the two in that cracking europa league semi the other day (insua and san jose). you could make a pretty good six-a-side team out of rafa signings at the business end of european competitions.

Plus Im really no sure what you mean unless you think Im talking about subbuteo not real football. Formations are the way teams set up and the invent of counter attacks allows for a negative approach Im sure I dont need to tell you once you think about it

Nah, you're right mate, best look forward rather than dwell on the past. Wouldn't be bad at all if we knew we'd be in this competition next season. The truth is we're in a famine now. Three seasons it'll be. Fuck.

Fucks Sake!!! Whoever divined Torres as due a goal earlier? Kudos to you - you got it spot on re' him - the traitrous b*stard that he is  :no   And they would go & do it with one of their weakest bloody teams having lost Terry to a Red Card (some consolation as they'll get crucified in the Final without him) & given up a penalty!! You'd almost think the F*ckers name is on it wouldn't you? Well I don't - I think either Madrid will do them in the final as Mourinho knows them To well & Xabi wouldn't let us down or Robben will have a point to prove should Bayern get there & he on his own? Is Far to good for a Terry-less Chelsea backline.  As to their other would be 'trophy'? Down to us to stop them no? And if there's one team that's specialised in stopping them & been their bogey team of late? It's us.  Pretty confident for our own final against them certainly but after That? Can't shake the nagging feeling that this time? The tw*ts might just manage to fluke the CL somehow despite my confidence in either Bayern or Real ultimately stopping them.   Either way soon enough? We shall see............... ::)

Not that it wasn't great, but what exactly did beating Inter Milan get us? What did twatting Real Madrid get us? Does anyone other than us remember those games? Trophies will always beat scalps.

*All* four of them. Besides, I have faith that the way all four of those players were brought in, we can achieve the same once again.

I'd love to see one of those 'average player position' graphs for the game ;D
Fair play to them for having the guts/stupidity to do it for that long though, even if they did depend on a shitload of luck along the way. My fingernails and I would definitely not be comfortable watching us park the bus like that.

Fair point. Rafa did seem quite disinterested in the domestic cups after the 06 final, playing some weak sides in games like Spurs away (Carling 08-09) and Arsenal away (09-10) and getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Barnsley and Reading. They were missed opportunities, you have a point, but we were unlucky not to win the league or European Cup with his established side.

I do hope they lose two finals, particularly after many of their fans behaved the last time they were at Wembley.

They make Steua Bucharest look like Barcelona, someone compared them to Stoke earlier but that is unfair to Stoke. I know we've done this in some two leg games, even at home but three hours in your own box I'm not sure has ever been done with success and three goals. Not sure whether its good or bad but I do dislike Chelsea immensely, a little less when Terry is not on the pitch. I could not have stood him lifting the CL trophy.

They may not have got us trophies but some of those games that ultimately amounted to no trophies are amongst my happiest memories, winning trophies is brilliant but if you were to ask me which game gave me more personal enjoyment out of fulham away 08/09 or the CC final this year I'd have to say the former.

Trophies don't always equate to the best memories for me.

I know you can't say you don't miss the champions league mate. Fucking depresses the shit out of me hearing the champions league anthem and knowing we aren't in it. Players and big clubs live for those nights. An every year we are out of it makes harder watching and knowing your starting your season without a possibility of a european cup win is hard to swallow to. I know you'll say we only won it once in the last few years but I expected us to go all the way every year we were in it.

Thats even before I mentioned how important it is to the club and probably the owners.

It's not though, is it?

Don't get me wrong - I'd fucking love to be back playing in the European Cup and with a chance of winning it. But it doesn't beat actually winning things. No one really remembers us beating Madrid or Barcelona other than us. I doubt their fans sit down on their forums or in their pubs and go "weren't that Liverpool side of a few years ago great?" any more than we're on here talking about how clever Benfica's freekick routine was or how good Cissokho was at Anfield for Lyon. Scalps are nice, but ultimately meaningless beyond your own fans if you don't have a nice shiny cup to place them all in at the end of an adventure.

Wanting to be in it just to be back in it is Arsenal territory. Trophies always beat scalps, even if the team that earned the scalps were the better side, they ultimately matter little.

No mean feat with all the wankers they have at that club.

I stop short of wishing them well in said final though, I couldnt care less who wins it.

I'm glad we've won a trophy and are in another final. I just want to be winning the European Cup and competing for it year on year. The sight of those shite making the final, and that lad scoring for them, brings it home with a thud.

I get what you are saying about the trophies, being down on paper as history. fact. I just loved the fact we were one of the best teams around, other teams genuinely didnt want to play us and no matter who we lined up against i was confident we would win. Now we are lining up against poor poor teams, at home, and no one is confident at all of us even scoring. Carling cup doesnt compare for me.

The bright side is if Torres had to score a goal in an important game, then he already did. Now I have a feeling he won't score against us in the final.

Chelsea players will also be knackered after these two games, let's hope by the time they reach the final, any energy they had left in them will be gone.

Harley, Isn't that a similar reasoning that by dint of the awful luck we've had this year? We should be due a glut of it next year? Or indeed that same brand of reasoning that stated that due to us not being in Europe this season? We'd somehow have had a better chance of doing well in the league - That worked out well didn't it?

PhilM? Don't know what you're on about Mate - The warnings you mentioned were heeded since in case you've not noticed? I don't bold words anymore so in my view? I've done all I can to change my posts & it's the last I'm doing.  From now on? I post as I post (without bold or anything but I am not Changing again) If you don't like me mate? Ignore me but don't have a cheap pop at me for no apparent reason - you'll just end up sounding like a fool as indeed you do.  Attention seeking? Don't know what you're on about I was simply cursing Chelsea's luck further up the page & I'm very far from the only one whose done that - I think you? Need to put the insults & mouth away & try thinking for once mate - After all, It's not me setting out to insult you is it? Think about it & pipe down.......

Y2J? Agreed - I was worried about Torres v Us before this - I'm not anymore.  Think their team will be worn out by the time of the Final to at this rate.  Their medical room already looks like Emergency Ward 9 & isn't likely to improve much by May 5th.

A few of our Current Ruddy Squad could do with reading - Especially after THAT Debacle - What Is it with March 3rd, Anfield & Gutting Home defeats in Games We Utterly dominate? Especially against Arsenal?

I really wonder which Mourinho would prefer.  Is he happy with a weakened Chelsea that he would surely beat, or would he rather have played Barca in the final, knowing that if he would have won, he would have beaten the best?

Any team that wins the Semi today will be favorites.Bayern because they'll be at home.Real because they're presently the best in Europe maybe.
And Chelsea without 4 important players. It's going to hurt.
What is the United line-up?
Webb, Riley, Wiley, Clattenburg, Dean, Dowd, Atkinson, Friend, Mason, Halsey and Probert

Djimi Traore has won more European Cups than London :)

The bright side is if Torres had to score a goal in an important game, then he already did. Now I have a feeling he won't score against us in the final.

Chelsea players will also be knackered after these two games, let's hope by the time they reach the final, any energy they had left in them will be gone.
interestingly I dream the FA cup ended 8-12. The Newspaper had a solitary picture of Torres on the front ...
Goodbye & thank you Rafa. You've given us more than we ever had a right to expect from you and you stayed loyal and fought for us even when some of our own turned on you. I truly hope that you find somewhere with the support that you deserve & win everything in sight.
