He's carrying the Olympic Torch through bloody Swindon today.

Astonishing irony.

Remember being in 125 anny road when he played against us for Marseilles,he was brilliant that night..

I remember that match.  There's loads going around today about how Mourinho turned him from a nobody which is a load of horseshit as he was class before he started there.

As much as the guy pissed me off, I started to find it hard to dislike him towards the end, even though I despise Chelsea. I know it's a financial decision, but he could definitely have hacked two years in the Prem or with Marseille or someone. As ever, money talks. Time to form a management super team with Anelka. The owner likes to play striker.

He's 34, won pretty much everything with Chelsea, topping it off last season with a Champions League.  Perfect time to cash in before the end of his career.  If he were 30 and had just come off his most prolific season as Eto'o did when he left for the money, I might question his decision.

A twat on the field, but undeniably a top player.

From the Beeb: Drogba said: "I'm looking forward to a new challenge and experiencing a new culture, and am excited about developments in the Chinese Super League. "

Course you are Didier.

Fair enough, if someone is willing to pay silly money why not take it? Shame to affectively drop out of top flight football though when he could clearly still carry on for another year or two at the highest level.

Great news I will not have to hear or see him again.

And there's defeinitely an element of that for me too!

I don't see it that way. I think it's a refreshing change from watching lads who are finished try and hang on (Owen) for nothing but to service their ego. He's won everything with Chelsea and owes them nothing. He played with pain last season. He obviously knows his own body and physical limitations better than anyone. Think maybe he emptied the tank this season past and knows it.
The one most important thing that we all must remember, in case it slipped our mind, is this club is much more important and bigger than anybody. I'll never forget that and anybody that does is being a wee bit irresponsible and stupid I think because the club is more important than any one individual. The Club is, The Club.

Thats a bit over the top as diving does not take away from quality of the player. Most teams have one & if hes yours the majority of fans love him... Pires, Nani, Drogba, Young, Rooney ect

(& this lad  :P)

While I can see where you are coming from, but if Suarez (or anyone) starts acting like Drogba (against Napoli stands out for me) I wouldn 't want him anywhere near our shirt.

He'll be re-united with Anelka.  Although they are currently 12th in a 16 team league with him.

They've only scored 9 goals in 13 matches?!?  Anelka's only managed 2 goals in 9 appearances?  Something else is wrong and I don't think adding a Drogba's going to help.

A bit more detail in this article:  http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/drogba-seals-shanghai-move-060840521.html

Drogba seals Shanghai move
PA Sport – Thu, Jun 21, 2012 14:47 BST

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has confirmed his long-expected move to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

The 34-year-old, who confirmed his intention to leave Stamford Bridge following Chelsea's Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich, has signed a two-and-a-half year deal reportedly worth £200,000 a week with the Chinese Super League side.
He will join up with former Chelsea colleague Nicolas Anelka, who joined the club in January. Drogba has been linked with Shanghai for several months after contract talks with Chelsea stalled over the length of a new deal.

The Barclays Premier League club had said they hoped to keep the Ivorian after he scored the all-important equaliser and then the winning penalty in the Champions League triumph in Munich last month.

Drogba said in a statement released by his agents on Wednesday: "I have considered all the offers I have received in the past few weeks, but feel that Shanghai Shenhua FC is the right move for me at this time.

"I am looking forward to a new challenge, to experiencing a new culture, and excited about the new developments in the Chinese Super League. When Chelsea went to China last year, we had a great time and I met some amazing fans. I hope to help promote Chinese football around the world and further improve the links between China and Africa."

Drogba scored 157 goals in all competitions for Chelsea, finishing with 100 in 226 league appearances since signing from Marseille for £24million in 2004, one of Jose Mourinho's first major signings for the club. He had an exceptional record in cup finals, scoring nine goals in nine different finals, including one in this year's 5-1 FA Cup final victory over Liverpool.

However, he failed to gel with Fernando Torres and began to find himself rotated at Stamford Bridge, despite the huge struggles of the Spaniard following his £50million switch from Liverpool, making it likely he would leave this summer.

Shanghai owner Zhu Jun said: "We have been wanting to sign Didier for a while, and are very happy that it has finally happened. He is an incredible player, who has won so many trophies in his career, we feel that his experience and ability will be a very valuable asset to our squad. Shanghai is one of the most influential cities in the world, and we are very excited to welcome Didier here."

Shanghai's new manager Sergio Batista said: "Drogba is a very good soccer player, his outstanding skills and amazing experience will give us motivation to improve our games. It is my honour to invite him to join in our team. At last I have to say that the club owner Zhu Jun did his utmost to bring Drogba to Shenhua."
Anyway, like an ex-girlfriend's cleavage, it's probably the last we'll see of these two tits.

In Spain it is being reported that Didier Drogba is arriving tomorrow to Barcelona to sign for FC Barcelona

Drogba has got a clause that allows him to leave Shangai Shenhua for free if Barcelona came calling. He will meet the Spanish club tomorrow

Just come out with it, pretty big news if true
