Comolli sacked.
Maybe this means Kenny goes, too?
Maybe this means Kenny is moved upstairs?
Rafa?

I doubt anything will or should happen until after Everton game at the minimum?

If it was genuinely "Family Reasons"  the LFC statement would not have been so curt and he would have been given leave until the end of the season not to upset anything.  But FSG are no fools and Comolli cannot be blamed for the lack of performance on the field.  I really doubt that KD will be manager next season.

How does that work given that Dalglish has consistently affirmed that he had the final say on all signings and that Comolli got the players signe dwhom he wanted?

He may have wanted them plus others, but at what price, and of course Kenny will toe the Club line. He will not say I got the crappy half of the list I wanted and at the wrong price. Comolli has been sacked, not Kenny. It was Comolli's job to buy/sell players and do contracts, so FSG indicating they are not happy with that work, unless there is something else that we do not know about.
Let's also never forget the 39!

With very few games left anyway?
What is the United line-up?

So this decision was to take place after the game this weekend but Kenny wanted the meeting brought forward. That explains the timing then. As many other conspiracy theorists have said I also see Kenny stepping aside this summer.

Not really, the announcement could've waited until after the weekend, still think the timing of it is piss poor and still don't understand the decision to drop this bomb just before the game.

Didn't someone hint that Comolli had a little to much say over how we're going to set up to play as a team?

If that was ever the case, and it's seemed like a clash of philosophies between Kennys system and Comollis system then it could be a good thing, just depends on which system would suit us more, Kenny's or the one Comolli was scouting for.

If that was the case, dont you think Kenny would have told him just to fuck off? If there issues between Kenny and Comolli I cant see Kenny being so nice in a press conference either to be honest, polite yes, but Kenny seemed to say a lot of nice things about him. I havent seen the press confrence, just read whats been posted on here so might be reading it very wrong but it seems to me that Kenny was offering some solidarity to Comolli more then anything.

I think a lot of people on here are over-reacting. I can't see this having much effect on the team at all for the semi-final. It's entirely possible that the owners feel the club needs to try a different model, I.e. Kenny makes all of the decisions on transfers. Comolli's remit has already been altered once and the owners may have decided that he was no longer needed. He's left by 'mutual consent' so it all seems fairly amicable.

As for Dalglish being moved upstairs, that wouldn't happen. I think he'll get next season and if we're not close to champions league football I think he will stand down himself. I'm perfectly happy will Dalglish as manager and I do think we're better than our league position suggests. Give him next season and I'm sure we'll all see improvements in the league. After the carling cup final we were 4 pts behind Arsenal (I think, correct me if i'm wrong) and we were very unlucky in that game, since then the league form has dropped and we're in eighth place. He's been back a year and he's given us plently of great moments to remember already. I'm heading back to Wembley for the second time this season! Hopefully it will be three.

So get behind him and stop the talk of replacing him already.

As Werner basically said dont dwell on this move on and win on the weekend and keep going for the rest of the season. This will definitly not be the last head to role but who knows who else will go. I just hope we didn't have too pay Mr. Comolli too much to leave surely no performance related pay anyway. His handling of the Suarez incident shows me he had probably to much power in terms of the playing staff.

To be fair, the season we finished second, it was only til the new year that we opened up and took the shackles off.  You could hardly call Rafa's teams of the first few years entertaining and adventurous going forward on a regular basis.

Anyway, that's off topic and for a different thread.

How are they even debatable?
It has and is debated on how they are failures.  Adam f.e. is not considered a failure by some by looking at price vs the players he replaced as well as wages.  Carroll, he hasn't banged in 20 goals but other contributions seem to be ignored, and price-tag does play in.  Henderson...has he been that bad ?  And Downing..some do say he has been ok and it's not his fault that players aren't on the receiving end.

Above is not my opinion about said players, just stating how it is debatable who are failures.

Stage 2 can go either way - Kenny is next or they back Kenny in the summer with more funds.

Some players will come, some will go and some wont come or go. And some of these players, hopefully the ones doing the coming and not the going will play football and in that game of football goals will be scored or they might not be. You heard it here first. When we wanted to attack Hodgson, we said that the better signings (Meireles, Suarez) we'd made were down to Comolli, rather than Hodgson.  When we wanted to defend Dalglish, we said that the better signings (Bellamy, Enrique) we'd made were down to Dalglish, rather than Comolli.

This lack of clarity has not been helpful at all.  It will be far better to have one man at the top, responsible for both signings and tactics.

I can't help but think that the Americans are clearing ship and that Kenny is probably next but at the end of the season.  Comolli has left now because we have to get on transfers early but there'd be no point sacking your manager when there is a cup to play for.  I saw how FSG dealt with failure when they sacked their coach of the Red Sox at the end of MLB season. They don't hang about and failure is not tolerated.

I understand where they are coming from because this season has been shite and I don't think Kenny and Damien helped themselves, they made some dodgy signings and you have to be held to account when a big club like ours fails in this way.

To be fair if there were issues between Kenny and Comolli Kenny wouldn't be the type to come out and lambast him in an interview. If something has happened between them, Kenny wont say it in public. Which makes him such a great man imo

The bottom line is that this announcement shouldn't of been made two days before a cup semi against our local rivals.  Even if Kenny wanted the meeting brought forward and forced FSG's hand, they announcement could of waited until Monday.

The only reason to make it now is if the press got hold of it and was going to run it on Saturday morning, which wasn't out of the question.

Comolli has been sacked, not Kenny. It was Comolli's job to buy/sell players and do contracts, so FSG indicating they are not happy with that work, unless there is something else that we do not know about.

Initially I had thought that Dalglish will continue to next season, but putting all the news logically together, I dont think he will anymore because FSG is showing throught his that they do not want last summer and this season to repeat itself and they are bringing an entirely diferent set up to replace the current one because if they cannot trust the guy who was hunting down the players and negotiating with them, they will not want to trust the person who approved the player selections either. The DOF is probably being replaced now because they want the new DOF in place to chase the new player signings for next season. They are leaving Dalglish for the end of the season so as no to disrupt the team and for the lack of any credible stand ins, but I suspect they have already spoken to him and he will probably be bumped upstairs or head up the academy next season.  The new manager will be brought in at the end of the season.
