Oh dear Bascombe, that's awful.

This was the Villa match report, wasn't it?

"Their presence meant Steven Gerrard was shifted first to the position of a second striker and later a makeshift right midfielder. As usual, he came to the fore by ole should not be compromised for the sake of players who you imagine queuing to get the captain to sign their shirt after a game. Their inclusion is symptomatic of why Liverpool are where they are."

Shelvey is a better player already than Charlie Adam. I have no prob with Adam being a squad member, but I don't like him playing ahead of Shelvey. It will block his progress. Same with Carra playing ahead of Coates.

Don't think his pressing game is as good as people are making out. Dunn isn't exactly nippy.

His best trait is his awareness and vision. Plays his way out of tricky spaces and knows what's going on around him. I think he did see Bellamy for instance, but felt entitled to shoot. That was on his left foot by the way, just showing the confidence of the lad.

He was great today and we are yet to see the best of him. His finishing game is vastly better than we have seen in a red shirt so far. Saw a bit of him at Charlton and he's a real threat around the box with his right foot.

Definitely got to be part of our long term plans.

He has many of Gerrard's technical qualities. Many of the mental characteristics too, which may or may not be termed qualities depending on how they're integrated into the team. Certainly a better choice than Adam in all aspects.

You know what, I'm writing this here now and I'm going to put it in my signature and leave it there for the next 5 years, no matter how embarrassing it might or might not turn out to be: Jordan Henderson is going to be a fantastic player.

Thought he was quality last night, and any mention of Dunn was only introduced once we went down to ten men. When it was 11 vs 11 he was running the game.

The left foot situation, think it might slightly occured when Bellamy previously had an option with Henderson or Flanaghan right side in loads of space & Shelvey infront of him, but decided to shoot.

His pass to Bellamy to the right corner flag to waste time was unbelievable, the vision to see it was Xabi'esq' or like Jari :)

Well played, has a good chance for Saturday.

Is anyone tempted to play the same midfield against Everton and either drop Gerrard to the bench or play him on the right?

Jonjo deserves a place in the team on Saturday

Gerrard should and will play.

I would start him and Shelvey in a midfield 3, along with Spearing. I would go for a front 3 of Downing, Suarez and Kuyt.

Ye I would be happy with that as long as gerrard adopts the role Shevey had tonight and tries to support Suarez instead of picking the ball of the defenders feet
