My man of the match. Thought he keep a cool head when we needed it the most, made some great runs forward, involved in the second goal, never stopped running. Excellent game, surprisingly mature for someone so young.

Deserves to start instead of Gerrard in the semi final.

He was our fantastic just behind Carroll before the sending off, then worked his ass off from then on. If he keeps working hard, we've got a good player on our hands here

Ran the show before the red card, worked hard after it, showed he has everything to be a top, top player. The only complaint I have is when he failed to slip the ball to Bellamy and went for a shot instead.

Didn't see the game as away from home on holiday, but I'm delighted he got the full 90 minutes tonight. Really have high hopes for him, and he could play a big role next season.

Said in the main thread that his pass to Bellamy right at the end was world class. Took all the pressure off our midfield and allowed us to keep the ball and run down the clock.

I haven't been Shelveys biggest fan, but tonight he definitely deserves praise for putting in a good shift. His best game in a red shirt so far.

he was mature beyond his years out there tonight. Brilliant performance. Shame we couldnt see more of him linking up with carroll but when he dropped back further into midfield he put in a proper shift, all over the place, and helped take the pressure off by breaking forward and setting some attacks going.

He's going to be a very good player for us in the future. Played great in the first 20 mins playing behind the striker but still played well when he had to move back next to Spearing in CM. I believe there's a lot more to come from him. Fantastic prospect

He's quality, wonderful performance tonight and that AM position is where he will thrive. Some of those driving runs forward were great. Think he needs to get his head up a little more when he gets into attacking positions but that will come with time
