Have you forgiven Torres?
« on: April 8, 2012, 12:16:22 AM »
Just wondering what the general feeling is towards Torres amongst Liverpool fans? I know there was a feeling of betrayal when he first left, but has enough time passed for you to forgive him, or have those bridges been well and truly burned?

I didn't hold anything against him when he left, his reasons for leaving were perfectly understandable and £50million was a great deal for a an injury prone striker on the decline. It's just a pity we blew most of that money on duds.

Forgive what exactly? Leaving one job to go to another job? Bigger things to be worrying about in life then a footballer who feels like he needs a change.

Forgive is a bit of a stretch but I understand him. I felt hurt but I get why he did it, I've said it for a long time. His legs are gone, and if not that then his head is gone. He went in January because we were out of all competitions and Chelsea was his last ditch attempt at a trophy, rationlising to himself leaving his boyhood Atletico to win things, pick up a decent paypacket and go back to Atletico as the prodigal son returned with his English success medals. It failed, thanks for the memories now take care and take every single penny you can from that miserable excuse of a club and it's owner.

Good player, good PR machine. At first felt a bit betrayed when he as he sold us with his "one of us" vibe. Fact is he's been gone just over a year and we've already won a trophy, will take that over shirt and poster sales, which is ultimately all he offered in the end. Not arsed what he does now, bit like Owen to be honest, was never one of us.

He left.
Bigger players have left and no problems.
I've never had anything against him because of it.
The big club stuff was tittish bullshit, but a lot of players, and supporters, are more than capable of that.
We had his best years.

Players come and players go.

He came he saw he scored goals, he left.

We move on.

I consider myself lucky to have seen him in his prime when he was undoubtedly one the best strikers in the world, and I wish it had worked
out differently as I feel if he was still here he'd be scoring goals now that he's regained full fitness.
Part of me would love to see him score a hat-trick at Camp Nou and the rest of me hopes he and his club wins fuck all.
He won't be coming back so no point debating that side of things.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Don't blame any player who wants to move on - it's how the game works isn't it, but I can't forgive him for his behaviour and the way he handled it all.

He left us in the lurch, we had gone and bought Suarez to be his partner up front and he buggered those plans up and then went on about going to a ' big club'.

Suarez showed how you can leave a club without bad feelings, it is a shame Torres couldn't have had a similar show of dignity and respect for the club.

I can't stand the lad now.

Was gutted when he left, for the most part he was an amazing player for us and it was sad to see him go, even though he had been shite for a while. Those pictures of him at Melwood kicking the ball around on his own the day before he left will always stick in my mind. His reasons were somewhat understandable I suppose but I was glad it completely blew up in his face. He left for a horrible fake plastic club who are/were also in decline. He then had the fucking cheek to go on about how he could finally play for a big club. :lmao

He probably knows by now how stupid a thing that was to say but fuck it, he made his bed. We as fans loved him and I miss bouncing to the Torres song on the Kop, instead now he has those plastic flag waving c*nts who have already probably got sick of him. You can tell he is not happy at Chelsea, I reckon he'll be off back home to Spain in the near future. I'll still always remember him though. Some of his goals and performances were just amazing. Him and Gerrard together both at their peak was something special.

Ah well, football goes on....
